      Its a Pierce PUC Velocity. It was a Hermosa Beach Engine before the county took them over. Ironically they had just ordered it the year before so it was pretty new. My Guess LA county just kept it for that reason or maybe even a test bed for a future spec.

    • @spencerberklite5118

      cheerwrest they keep any absorbed apparatus as a frontline if it is newer than any practical replacements. They almost always use the previous apparatus if possible and then replace it with one of their own spec when it ages out

    I wonder why they didn't throw on an EQ2B on E100 since it's standard to have a Q on LA County Engines.

    Why’d Hermosa fold?

    • @310fire
      @310fire  6 років тому +4

      It’s too costly for cities with a single fire station. HBFD was understaffed and was always requesting mutual aid. LACoFD is cheaper and provides a higher level of service to Hermosa with their large array of resources.

    • @emvvehicles_8
      @emvvehicles_8 6 років тому +2

      SoCal EmergencyResponse I can see how cheap LACOFD is, they didn't even bother repainting the truck into the standard LACOFD paint job.

    • @LancasterResponding
      @LancasterResponding 6 років тому +3

      John Schuster Why bother taking a rig out of service for a few weeks to paint it? Current paint scheme fights fire just as well

    What is a lifeguard rescue truck and what’s it capable of handling? Emt or Paramedic staffed?

    • @CenTexPhoto
      @CenTexPhoto 4 роки тому

      LACoFD Lifeguards are EMT Basics. The only exception being Baywatch Avalon and Baywatch Isthmus on Catalina Island. Those are all Paramedics and trained in underwater recovery(dive team), high angle rope rescue, marine firefighting and boat rescue. The trucks in this video are equipped with EMS bags, backboards, O2, various water rescue equipment, ropes, etc. The Catalina Baywatch have a Squad similar to a brush patrol unit with LACoFD in Avalon and a type 1 ambulance in Two Harbors(Isthmus). They also use 32-foot boats at both locations.

    LA County's new Engine 100 has a different paint scheme from any other LA County unit I've ever seen. Why's that?

    • @310fire
      @310fire  6 років тому +2

      They adopted the paint scheme from Hermosa. This was Hermosa’s rig, and the county changed the decals and equipment.

    Hard to believe that the City of Hermosa Beach 🏖 disbanded their fire department and contracted with LACoFD. Do you happen to know what brought that on??

    • @310fire
      @310fire  4 роки тому +1

      Christopher Cotton small departments usually don’t succeed. Hermosa firefighters were overworked, underfunded and required too many delayed mutual aids. Much smarter to go with county.

    • @CenTexPhoto
      @CenTexPhoto 4 роки тому +3

      The city was going to incur a budget deficit of over $10 million with the department due to mainly the fire station being condemned. They were working out of portable buildings. Apparently the station suffered extensive termite damage due to years of neglect. Their department had 15 firefighters and they were all absorbed by LACoFD and their EMS turned over via contract to McCormick Ambulance. In the long run the city gets a county funded new fire station, much better trained staff, access to the county's expansive firefighting expertise/equipment and quicker mutual aid. After 10 years, should the city decide it wants to go back in-house, they get to keep the new station and new apparatus. Win-win for the city.

      @@emvvehicles_8 Rumor has it REV is trying to faze out the KME Brand and just go with Ferrara and their E-One Brand names they just laid off 100 KME Employees. So anything is possible now days. I doubt the PUC design would ever catch on but I could see them going with another brand in the same design they use.
