Love the old utility body on Squad 28. Surprised they lasted like that for so long (since late 60’s? I think Johnny’s original squad in the Emergency! pilot was a ‘69 or ‘70.) Still, the new utility bodies (Squad 191’s) have a strong resemblance.
Not anymore. The TV show was authentic in dispatch in the era of the show. 1972-1975. Today's dispatch takes in additional station growth, multiple frequencies and computers, CAD System, etc.
Does the paramedics have what is known as full medical command.? In Pennsylvania the paramedics don't call into an emergency room at a hospital for approval from a doctor.!
I think here in California depends on the agency paramedics here where I'm at don't have to call in to the doctor only time they have to call in to the doctors just to let them know that we are responding to your hospital
@@davidweston6653 it is, but they contracted with L.A. County due to proximity. The closest mutual aid units were usually in L.A. County, anyway, whenever they needed them, from what I remember hearing.
@@Channel51_LA Tks for the quick reply. Back in the 70’s I worked for the local pvt ambulance that would transport for LA County. No mutual aid then, each county had different policies. As soon as a paramedic ( unless transporting) entered a different county they could not give advanced care. Glad many things have evolved since the dinosaur era.🚑💨
The squads have come a long way since squad 51. D5W anyone? Lol
The squads have definietly changed a lot since the 1970's!
Awesome catches!! Great lighting on that medic
NorCal, after rewatching the video totally agree with you on that!
I noticed that La Habrá still as some piece of their old fire department vis a vis RA 1.

I had heard that the fire department is not dispatched like it was on the television show emergency

JAMES W. HOUSTON They absolutely do. At least in my experience.

According to the L.A. County EMS protocols that I have, there are certain circumstances where they have to contact medical control.
Are the La Habra ambulances quartered at the County stations?
FB51 Affirm and run on Co Dispatch
@@310fire Yeah, I hear them dispatched with County so I figured that might be the case. Thanks for the answer!
Ok, it’s been years since I worked in that area, but isn’t La Habra Orange County ?
