- Los Angeles County Fire Dept. Squad 171 following up with McCormick Ambulance to Kaiser West LA from a possible stroke patient in 172's area.
Units due: Engine 38, Engine 171 (canceled), Squad 161 (canceled), Squad 171.
Thanks to the crew of Station 171-A for the hospitality and allowing me to ride out.

I created this video with the UA-cam Video Editor ( / editor )
I've been a paramedic for 25 years (in EMS for 37 years) and I still don't understand why a non-transport squad would run "hot" to follow an ambulance to the hospital. It's a dangerous practice and a crazy liability.
Reminds me of when Squad 51 used to follow the Ambulance to Rampart
That was interesting to watch. You can feel the intensity in how hard it is to navigate traffic. The ambulance was way ahead.
I have to give props to the EMT behind the wheel of the mod. That dude drives with confidence and I guarantee knows every bump, pothole, RR track, stale green lights and medians in his district.
A 10 minute response time to get to the hospital? That's INSANE!! The poor patient could have died if she or he were having an M.I. Traffic in Los Angeles kills in many ways other than just vehicle accidents. Delays in getting to emergency care are a killer in themselves.
That is so annoying when they just stay there in the left lane when they have all the room in the right to move that is so annoying
I would love if I heard LA engine 51 over the radio!
No one knows how too drive in LA 🤦
I would have so much fun honking the horn
232 clicks on siren per minute avg speed
Did my paramedic internship with LA County Squad 47 many years ago. Best time of my life. No crew cab,the three of us crammed into the front seat
Those two vehicles at
That ambo was hauling ass😂😂
thanks 4 the ride
I know it must be annoying to see people like those at the traffic lights not being able to get out of the way even though with a little more thought they could have, I still really love and feel good when I see people trying, I don't know its just nice to see people move and panic and do all they can to make room for these guys to get through. I guess I'm used to seeing to many vids from other parts of the world where people just don't seem to give a shit.
Hell of a long run for you guys!
This was a good one to watch. Thank you for filming this and nice job on the horn!!
I like how the squads have eq2bs and air horns as on emergency that had the little electronic weewoo box
I have a question FB1 Response Videos, If you are a Paramedic on one of the Private Ambulances, are you allowed to run ALS with LACoFD or are you limited to the EMT-B scope of practice?
Sweet catch thx
