Merle Haggard had that special voice . He was a fantastic country singer . Love all his songs . His music will always live on . And he was a legend of his time ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
He was simply the greatest all-around country music talent that ever lived. Singer, songwriter, musician, band leader, impressionist (if you've ever seen him perform impressions of other artists, he was spot on). It's a race for second place, because there was Merle, and then there is everyone else.
Yes it is but as I think about who was better I cannot think of anyone who outshines him. Probably my #2 pick of best would be Vince Gill, another great talent.
I'm proud to play country music every day Merle still plays the night shift and I have my guitar to play along with a tad of whiskey This is living music.thanks again for this.
Mearle Haggard "The Hag " one of, if not the best in country music. My favorite. Ive seen him at least 3 times live in concert at Jimmie Rogers Festival in the Temple Theatre. Such a great writer and singer.
Been listening to Merle since the late sixties he's the greatest and always will be he has helped me through more hard times than anything or anybody and I still listen to him everyday
I have 200 LPs of original Merle Haggard vinyl records, almost everything he ever released. (I collected them in Los Angeles in the 1980s when you go to little album stores in downtown and find them). I got them. What is the best way to make sure they are saved for future generations? Money doesn’t matter, I just want them to be cherished, shared and appreciated forever.
I started collecting vinyl for almost a year now. Think I have 3 of Merle. The idea was to only get a couple lp's 1 of every country legend and hang them on my wall. 1 of Merle Haggard, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Bocephus, Marty Robbins, Charlie Daniels, David Allan Coe, ....... then I realized I do like a lot of country singers and my wall isn't that big 😅
Merl and his Country and Western giants have left a rich musical legacy..gone are those days not likely to return..these recordings needs to be preserved with great pride the world is not likely to this team of musical heroes again..
l agree with you, indeed Merle Haggard is a great and talented artist who's songs never goes out of style,he's one of my favorites artist, he songs still and always heals the Soul, I pray God gives you lot of beautiful days
Anytime the Hag performed was legendary. My favorite country artist of all time. Country started to go down in the 80’s and by the time you got to Garth Brooks it was done. What they are doing today isn’t country music, it is bad pop rock music with fiddles and pedal steel thrown in. It is so terrible it disgusts me that anybody would compare the titans of country music of yesteryear with this modern farce. God Bless Dale Watson and the few who are staying true to REAL Country Music!
I told Willie Nelson a few weeks ago, Merle Haggard (Willie's good, good friend) was the king, the best songwriter, catnip to women, he couldn't help it. Merle's death was a hole in our hearts, BUT Willie, don't despair, when you and Kris Kristofferson die, the world will literally stop. I'm looking at a world map above my tv; I don't think there is a country in the world whose citizens do not know your names.

Many of our pure country music artist have gone home, leaving us with their young ones trying to fill their shoes, but Merle's boys have done better than most answering George Jones "who's going to fill their shoes".
True enough but Merle left behind him three sons who are also excellent country singers and guitar players….they also sound very much like their daddy.

If they gave a shit about real country music they would never had anything to do with Taylor Swift and those two guys...I call them Shag and Fag....
All the greatest country singers are now up in heaven singing for the lord.
This song should be our Everyday Anthem. After 7/13/24 this is more true than ever. Love ole Merle
And don’t forget his son, Ben Haggard. He is the one who will carry on..
Absolutely agree, sounds the most like his dad!
And don’t forget Noel Haggard. His son, Marty, named after Marty Robbins can also sing like his dad.
