There won't be any one who can even compare to this man as he's been the best country musician and performer in my lifetime. I was born in 56 and told at a young age that I'd appreciate this music when I get older. It didn't take long. With this mans help. The last concert I attended was in Santa Barbara county bowl in the early 80s. May he RIP.
He was such a cool cucumber when he knew he was ON and knew exactly how important it was for his fans to see him this way. Now, I know he had moments that he battled with insecurity, paranoia, and some other things that almost all of us humans fall victim to. My sincere hope is that at the end of his life, he had a moment of clarity and finally allowed himself to recognize just how great and how important he was! Peace to his memory. His music and the love/respect of music that he had and passed on to others, will live forever!

Too many people forget that Merle was one of the greatest telecaster pickers to ever live. He could light that thing on fire, with a high hard bite on the bridge setting and a beautiful, bluesy, SRV/Hendrix like sound on the neck setting. No, he wasn't as good as Stevie Ray or Jimi, but he made every note count beautifully with his guitar playing. Even the great Keith Richards admitted he couldn't keep up with Merle on guitar, that Merle was a much better picker than him.
Oh! He has been my Number one Man! Saw him twice. Loved every tone. I'm sure in these times and coming times he will be heard and loved all over again. They are all in tune with each other. Those old Strangers! Wonderful stuff. Gotta go because I can on and on about them Sendinguch 💘

I got to have my Hag fix every few days or I do not feel good...his songs and playing them in bands around westren Canada when I was a young man are a huge part of my life. I met my wife and formed a happy life together all because she was a great Hag fan and she herd me singing a Hag song. We still have a 3× 4 foot picture of the Hag in our living room...to remind us of Merle and to temind us of our start in life together over 20 years ago.
I saw him about that many times myself! Even got to meet him once, Ms Bonnie too! Met band members many times. Don Markham and I had a beer together at the casino bar! What great memories. Makes me sad that the era has passed. 😥

Too many people forget that Merle was one of the greatest telecaster pickers to ever live. He could light that thing on fire, with a high hard bite on the bridge setting and a beautiful, bluesy, SRV/Hendrix like sound on the neck setting. No, he wasn't as good as Stevie Ray or Jimi, but he made every note count beautifully with his guitar playing. Even the great Keith Richards admitted he couldn't keep up with Merle on guitar, that Merle was a much better picker than him.

El más completo -gran compositor, gran músico, gran letrista, gran cantante...-, creo que solo Willie Nelson está en esa jerarquía de artista total. Sin desmerecer a Waylon, Kristofferson, G. Jones y tantos otros grandes entre los grandes..pero, sí, creo que Haggard fue y es el más completo.

I got to have my Hag fix every few days or I do not feel good...his songs and playing them in bands around westren Canada when I was a young man are a huge part of my life. I met my wife and formed a happy life together all because she was a great Hag fan and she herd me singing a Hag song.
We still have a 3× 4 foot picture of the Hag in our living room...to remind us of Merle and to temind us of our start in life together over 20 years ago.
