- We've been pulling hard for Bassmage to make big moves at Smash Summit this weekend and this set did not disappoint! Going up against Chag was tough as Palutena can be one of Jigglypuff's hardest matchups, and when things looked their absolute worst - Bassmage happened.

@@MDMcNugget my thoughts as well. Hungrybox is the best Jigglypuff player in Melee whereas Bassmage is becoming the best Jigglypuff player in Ultimate. Both use the same character, but are better adapting with Puff in one game vs the other.

Bassmage is killing at Summit. You can see how differently he makes every player play with his puff tactics. Everyone's gameplan is thrown slightly off keel trying to deal with a character like Puff lol. Great stuff to him though hope he makes a solid run in the final bracket today.
Continuing the legacy of our own Melee Puff, once scrutinized for changing the game as we know it.
That game 5 was one of the hypest things I've ever watched live

Literally made me cover my mouth from shock! Crazy plays by bassmage
This may be some of the best conditioning i’ve seen in a long time. Holding out on rest setups until Game 5 (but props to Chag for avoiding them for the most part until then) and exploding for a reverse three stock in under one minute (approx 31s) with two rests. Absolutely insane by both players, and congrats to bass!
This was the most hype ~25 seconds of smash I've seen in a long time.

Can't blame the guy. Adrenaline pumping like crazy in these sets. And he got double cheesed by Puff in a game that looked like his. In less then a minute he lost his 2 last stock. I too would be shaking. Major respects to Bass of course for going for that crazy shit on the last game, saving the best for last. And no disrespect for Chag either, I usually root for him but in this case he wasn't the underdog.
This was insane. Hbox was lending Bassmage his power to finish off Chag. Bassmage just went crazy at the end with hitting 2 of 3 of the rests he threw out the entire match in less than a minute of one another, possibly in under half a minute. Glory to the puff player!

This is forever one of my favorite moments in Ultimate. People doubted bassmage when he got voted in, and you can see in hbox’s chat game 5 that people were calling that the set was over when bassmage was down. But HBox still expressed that he believed in the comeback.
And then bassmage actually does it. Just amazing
The end of this set gives me so much serotonin.
22:11 Bass was fighting for that inch, and the second he got it he ran ten goddamn miles with it.
Bassmage's strategy was strange, but I think I understand it now. I wondered if he had foresworn rest entirely as part of his game plan, but that was likely just a form of conditioning: to win solidly with just regular neutral and to pull out rest setups at the last minute when no one was expecting them. Brilliant and so clutch.
I feel like it was more like rest was a plan-B to swing Bassmage back into the game when it was slipping away from him.
He just closed his eyes for a few seconds and summoned the clutch

Seeing these videos of Bassmage is crazy for me since I have actually randomly got put against him TWICE on Elite smash on different days. He kicked my ass of course but I at least took a stock each time. It’s just so cool that I got to play against a pro player two times.
I've played against Nairo, Tilde, and Seagull Joe online as well as Marss offline (I took game 1 on his ZSS!!). It's an entirely different beat playing someone at that caliber, fucking amazing

I almost 3 stocked bassmage on elite, then he reverse 3 stocked me. Got me twice w the platform setup, then up air rest to finish me off. Immediately opened up his stream to hear him go “I’m so much better than you” LOL
Oh and I beat marss snake online like a year ago, the guy really hates roy.

Ok that ending was sick but Hungry Box’s reaction was the best part.
Bassmage tried to win with pure fundies and no risks for most of Sumit's streamed matches. He's a PHENOMENAL player and the best Puff by far. But he needs to embrace the part of Puff that makes her such a tier breaker.
Puff can risk EVERYTHING and clutch.
Bass needs to embrace some of Hboxes legacy and learn to trust the rest. He has everything else he needs.

Bassmage really turns it on when the chips are down. After no rests in the previous 4 games he hits 2 within 30 seconds to win the match with the second being a 0-to-death on one of the best players in the world. What an amazing upset.

Hbox encouraging bass to use rest is hilarious. Bassmage doesn't use the B button unless it's to use the occasional Pound. Which is why I prefer to watch Hbox's Jiggs, he actually takes risks. Way more exciting play style to watch, even if Bass's is more "optimal."
