- Since "America Burning" was published in 1973, the United States has made incredible progress in lowering the number of fires, fire deaths, and fire injuries through the use of technologies like smoke alarms and implementing up-to-date codes and standards. But more progress is needed to eliminate the modern day fire problem in the US, which is characterized by trends like faster-burning furniture and massive wildfires. A new report from NFPA offers insights into what that problem looks like and how we can address it.

I lived thru a house fire in 1977 because my parents held "escape" practice in the summer and the winter. My brother and I were both teens and thought it was a hassle for no good reason. Without that practice I would have died from smoke inhalation. If parents love their kids they show it by holding practice evacuations. No if's and's or buts--- knowing how to get out saves even sleepy children from being victims. Thank you, Mom and Dad. I lived because you cared.
Why am I watching all these videos? I’m hooked!
Very informative!
Thanks for this video. I'd love to see links to videos that give pointers to what homeowners can do (especially homeowners that are building new houses) to make their houses more resilient to forest and neighborhood fires (things such as what type of siding to use, removing fuel from the yard, etc.).
