  • UL FSRI is conducting a study to examine how ventilation impacts fire damage and the resulting fire patterns in structures representing single family homes. Knowledge of fire dynamics is critical for fire investigators to identify a fire’s area of origin and determine a cause; and fire dynamics are dependent upon understanding the role of ventilation during a fire event.
This video provides an introduction to the types of measurements and experiments that were conducted. Reports and the online training program are being developed.
This project was supported by Award No. 2015-DN-BX-K052, awarded by the National Institute of Justice, Office of Justice Programs, U.S. Department of Justice. In January 95 I lost everything in apt fire. I got there as the fire company in a podunk town in Minnesota were finishing up. They asked me if I left anything on or plugged in I panicked and said an electric blanket. My dad had a retired fire chief from a city look at it he said right away it was arson and it started at my bedroom doorway that led to the hallway and that someone light something and stuck it under the door. To this day 26 years later its still being tentatively blamed on the electric blanket. Ps I recalled later that I made sure to unplug the blanket because I had a bad feeling can't explain why

Notre Dame is on fire right now. Already being ruled an accident. How would they make that assessment mid fire?

Can the fire safety officer investigate the cause of the fire even if fire department did not extinguish the fire in the building that was burning

This seems like a waste of wood. But at the same time pretty crucial in cases of wrongful death.
