- The short answer is yes, it is real. From nacho chips igniting to oily rags bursting into flames, there are several recent examples of seemingly spontaneous combustion. Whether spontaneous human combustion is real, however, is an entirely different question-and many people think the answer is no. Please note: I believe linseed oil and even OLIVE oil can do this! Also, if it's flammable when wet, it will still catch more easily and burn more toxic, I think, when dry.

I'd only use DAWN to break up grease. And could these be murders? If you had the ability to make ash, wouldn't that explain why nothing else burned?
