+joebowles06 I love Radiohead, but it's not about getting them, it's about liking/disliking their sound. You are completely fine by me. i don't know much about you though
There are Radiohead songs that I like and I definitely respect them as a band, but out of all the times I've really given their music honest tries, it's just not something that I love or really ever seek out to listen to. Most people can understand my opinion, but I've ran into enough die hard fans of theirs who get all pissy when I disagree with their idea of Radiohead being the greatest thing to ever happen to music. And its always the same thing, "you just don't get it." It's the most pretentious, dickheadish thing I think anyone could say to someone who simply doesn't share the same admiration for a band. Like you said, its about liking or disliking their music, not about insulting other people's tastes and intelligence because they don't "get it" like you do.
+joebowles06 The only way I could ever justify saying to someone they don't get it, is if someone dismisses a band completely without giving an honest shot. But even then it would a pretty snobish way of putting it.
Back in high school there was a hipster dude who thought knew everything underground, and I remember once in english class we were doing an group project presenting music artist we like and the dude brought up Sage Francis and about how no one else but him knew SF. I simply said that I knew who SF was and the dude gave this bewildered and shocked look.
Tool fans are the kings of music snobbery. It's like they think they are so much more intellectual than all non Tool fans. Having had conversations in the past with these folks saying that I don't hate or love them, but I really don't care either way, gets that look from them like I just snaked a coil in their Wheaties. Whatevs. Let them sip on Maynard's wine and wax poetically about the time signatures and intricacies of their lyrics, while I jam out to Mercyful Fate and chug Oberon.
+Marty Worm I've only gotten into a few discussions with Tool fans and they said the exact same thing you just mentioned!!! Hahah! "Dude, what other band does time switches like them?" Atheist, Coalesce, Meshuggah. "Nah, it's not the same." I'm like you. I think Tool's cool, but I don't jump up and down for them. When Undertow came out I was obsessed. Anything else gets listened to on a once every other year basis.
+Marty Worm Agreed. They're always pseudo-intellectuals who throw around the word "deep" as if it's a philosophical term. Nine Inch Nails fans are about the same. I don't mind the music of Tool or NIN, but in my experience, their fans are beyond pretentious.
+maskei Trilogy era is my favorite too. His fans on UA-cam though have a vendetta against anybody who discovered him via Can't feel my Face or Earned It
ChannelX Yeah that's always annoying, man. I don't really care for his style nowadays, I fuck with The Hills and that's pretty much it. I preferred his darker and grittier R&B style that made him unique. That was pretty cool.
Yes! I have the Audio Technica LP120 as well! I really enjoy it. As for your flea issue, you must preserve! Be a warrior! Fight back! DO NOT REST UNTIL EACH OF YOUR STEPS LAND UPON BONES OF THE FALLEN FLEAS! Or just usurp the flea throne and repurpose them to destroy your enemies. Either one works. luv u boo
Im working to save enough money for a better record player, right now i have tha multi format crosley. I started collecting records about 2 years ago,but i make sure im either playing replaceable reissues or bootlegs,im scared to even bring out my old school records or anything limited.
I got the AT120 and TBH I hated the thing until I ripped out the preamp and used a different one. THEN I had to get a rubber mat for it because the plate was making this weird humming noise. Other than that it's aight.
Pretty sure I have the same receiver/preamp in my setup, which ironically I showed in a video last night. And yes, I pretty much have to agree with all of the finer points of your rant.
Off topic, but I wanted to hear your thoughts on Apathy. His lyrical ability is damn near unmatched, and is one monster of an MC. Unfortunately for rap fans he is extremely slept on, and I was wondering if you guys would ever cover him or his work on DEHH?
JUST recovered from a Flea infestation (2 cats). I used Revolution on the cats, which worked. Used Siphotrol Plus 2 for the carpet/flooring and Diatomaceous Earth. Separately, then together, vacuumed over and over and between. Of course keeping cats in separate room for months. Shit was absolutely exasperating.
they are the corny "real hip-hop" people for the most part that half the time are 13 and play Call of Duty and drink Mountain Dew. They say he's the best rapper cause he talks about real shit and not money and hoes. All of that is just delusional of them, his recent music is incredibly corny and reflects his current fanbase. It makes me question whether he was ever good, but regardless I still love his first 2 albums and Relapse.
You are making all these points and I'm just thinking "so what?" Why should other people's opinion on him affect your own personal opinion? Sounds stupid to me.
+Mowlid M I agree to an extent but at the same time it just taints the way I see his music. It makes me question why they like his music, and then why I like his music. It's the same reason why a song getting super popular on the radio can make me like it less. It's not to be a hipster, but it's like it loses its rarity and becomes over played and you start to notice more of its problems. I know I sound super pretentious right now, but I really don't mean to.
I have two Direct Drive Numark TTX's running though a Mixer instead of a receiver. I do also have an extra Technic 1200 but the tone arm needs to be replaced. If anyone wants to make an offer for that I'm open to selling it for the low.
Luckily I got a Numark TTX, Stanton someting, Behringer mxier, and Labtec speakers, along with a stack of about 30 records, all for the low low price of FREE.
Of course bands can/do change when they get more coverage. It happened so many times in history and was/is often because the record label would ask/demand they go in a certain direction, different from what they sounded like.
Could anyone please suggest a vinyl setup which would not damage my vinyls and would not be too expensive ( I do not have a lot of money to spend on it unfortunately), I would REALLY appreciate it :) I love vinyls, have collected them for only 1 year now, I was using my friend's setup, but now that he moved out, I have to get something new...
I try to avoid turntables with a built in preamp...there are a plethora of used decks and receivers with phono jacks for short money...pretty much any receiver sounds better that a built in preamp.
Yo myke, I'm fairly new to your channel and I was wondering how you feel about electronic music. Just asking because you mentioned skrillex and I have never heard your opinion. Really enjoy your content though!
When I saw the subject line for this video I was scared cus I though it was going to be a list of things I say. Thankful I say none of those thing. Except maybe "best album of the decade" i have about 20 of those and they change daily.
I think terrible fans can easily skew your opinion of an artist if you're naive enough to let it happen - and it sucks. I've totally been guilty of looking at an artist differently because of how their fans react and I know it ultimately makes no sense.
Honestly I get so much shit because I don't like wrath of the tyrants by emperor because it's a "classic" of the black metal genre, people automatically think it's mandatory to like that album.
Wanna know what's annoying? When you recommend an artist and the people you're showing them to begin to shit on the artist for a stupid reason. I've shown Eminem to mad of my homies, 10 times out of 10, they dismissed him because they ain't want to hear no "corny white boy". Didn't even listen. Just dismissed it.
+JayGLiteHarlem Ugh. That's so stupid. But, at the same time, I can get not being able to get behind an album because the content doesn't interest you.
+JayGLiteHarlem You know what's even more annoying ? When you recommend an artist, the people begin to shit on it for no apparent reason, a few months later a song by the artist is played on the radio / in some movie / whatever and the very same people act like they always loved it and can't remember that you ever tried to show it to them. Happened to me more than one time ...
Lmao i completely understand. i find a lot of artists and if i find someone that i think is cool, i let others give it a try. i just love discussing music, responsibly
The whole time he was talking about how cold it was I was thinking he was going to at least say something below 60. Here in the Midwest we'd be in shorts if we had 64 degree weather. I'm jealous.
I think mentioning an obscure band/album isn't in and of itself, being snobby. Mentioning that artist, like say Apes and Androids or Brice Plays Drums doesn't come across as being a snob. It's more of the intention when mentioning an obscure artist or album and looking down upon others because they don't know them (and even if they may know them/heard of them, or then go on to check them out and not like them). There are just some of us out there who tend to appreciate and gravitate towards more underground, obscure music. Maybe largely due to the music that those obscure artists are making is very niche. You know, esoteric, and those people's taste are just that outside the mainstream. I sometimes just ask someone if they've heard of a band who are similar but more successful (like when I ask someone about the band dredg, if they don't know them, I might then ask them if they know The Mars Volta or Muse). But I won't deny, I have had the feeling of frustration when a band becomes popular and I feel a bit disconnected to them as a result, as-in they aren't my little secret anymore. It's a bit of a Catch-22, because I know how good they are or their music seems to me, and think a lot more people could enjoy them with more exposure. But then when they do in some rare cases (Warpaint, Local Natives are 2 examples I think of for myself), I see larger music sources jumping on their bandwagon, and I never see any of them reference my previous work talking about them, it is frustrating. So much to the point I just kind of assume that when that happens, I won't be given any credit and it's really not worth my time and energy being annoyed by anymore. But in some cases, a band will release a new album that is after they receive some mainstream success and hype, and it just so happens their new album I don't find as good. Maybe it's a case-by-case basis, or maybe just purely coincidence, but it seems to happen to me a lot. St.Vincent for example is a great example of this. I really haven't cared for any of her albums all that much since her debut album "Marry Me" in 2007. On Marry Me, to me, she sounded like if Annie Haslam were singing with King Crimson. And that style seems to be less and less apparent with each record she's released since. And each record since, she's seen more and more mainstream success. It may be purely on her interest and direction musically, and my personal taste, but I can't deny that's what happened. Although I do think the hype of her albums since Marry Me hasn't contributed to my interest in those albums, because I often tend to be turned off by hyped albums and artists.
+allmediareviews.blogspot.com I'm sorry. No way I'm reading all that. But I'm just gonna say there's nothing wrong with mentioning an obscure band as a means of discussing said band. But most of us have been in that conversation with that jackoff who's doing it as a means of impressing everyone else with his musical knowledge.
i just got over a flea infestation, and i honestly don't even know how i did it. nothing seemed to work at the time. i was hella stressed. but i had multiple (low rimmed) bowls of warm water and dish soap around near lights, and i vacuumed a lot. used diotomacious earth and pesticides. but you need to neutralize your pets too. get your ass on eBay and buy some generic brand Capstar (you want the FLEA KILLER and FLEA CONTROLLER stuff, the daily medicine and the monthly medicine), and stuff them shits down your cats throat and the fleas will fall off almost instantly. finally, i never read that it being cold KILLS the fleas, since fleas can live through winter. i read that in colder temperatures fleas are easier to control because eggs take longer to hatch in low temperatures, not that they die. so there is definitely an advantage to it being cold, but it won't kill them. thats what i read, anyway
And id personally say just because an artist has a couple albums that arent great doesnt make a bad band. I personally didnt like anything after No Love Deep Web, But i still hold Death Grips in high regard..
+TheBzg07 That's cool and I agree with you, but that's not what I said. A band with one good album compared to multiple bad ones is the scenario I gave.
The whole "but that's a classic!" argument comes up EVERY time I say I don't care for the Beatles. Yes, they're one of the best respected bands of all time. I just don't like the way they sound, on any of their albums.
Dude, you’re great and fuckin funny as hell! Just found your channel, and it’s killer. I hang with a group of people in a different part of the VC but clicked on your vid, and I’m glad I did! Bravo, dude! 👏🎶✌️
you have to vacuum 2 times a day for 2 weeks. I did that when we got fleas (and I don't even have animals). anyhow... keep your vaccum outside so that they don't jump out and get back. Cold weather won't help lol. vacuum the shit out of your house. Trust me.
Back in 2010/2011, Skrillex haters were always way more annoying than Skrillex fans. I don't know how you're still getting into conversations about brostep tho. That whole thing died out ages ago.
lol, I'm very guilty when it comes to recommending projects when people say they don't like an artist. I guess the first step to fixing a problem is admitting you have one...
Im so with you on annoying people's comments. I myself like a little of most genres, but my fav to collect on vinyl is 70s Disco 12" and lps, and most record collectors ,turn theyr noses down on me because its Disco.. Same on them for looking at me like im a freak.
+PodmixtureAgain Ha. That's actually kinda awesome! I don't know shit about the genre but collecting disco LPs just seems rad to me. So keep that shit up! Fuck everyone else!
The amount of shade thrown in this video is hilarious. But for real I want to share music with people but I'm afraid I'm gonna say at least one or two of the dumbass comments like some that Myke just listed.
#2cold2care I fucking hate that argument of of "_______ influenced ____________ band, so what the fuck is wrong with you?!" I've gotten into this argument with people before over Deicide and Venom. I don't care if they influenced tons of bands. Good on them. I still think they're fucking garbage with no redeeming value to them.. especially Venom. Also, I saw that Dark Light special edition hiding in the corner! I found that in a local record store for $10 one day and I didn't have the extra to get it, went back and the fucking thing was gone. Turns out the guitarist in my band bought it haha.
+CountBlagorath Damn! I love Venom! Haha! But the thing is...I also like Kreator, Violence and Destruction. That would be more of a reason to like Venom than being a fan of black metal. Personally, I see no real correlation between Venom and black metal outside of the album title and the poor production. And, fuck yeah! I preordered that Dark Light box when it first came out. They said it was "limited." I kinda doubt it's that hard to find. Plus the shit inside is worthless. A fucking heartagram flashlight? Hahah! So lame. But I fucking love that record! They need to drop something new.
+Osama Bin Wheelie I'm sure it's an inside joke between the TWO of them. People should stop trying to read drama out of simple things that don't involve them.
I was about to comment about how modern country truly isn't actually country is pretty accurate, but then you made the beard comment and yes, I have a beard.
Fuck you have alota records 🖤 I've only been collecting for a year now. And only 60. I'm so happy to be all set up now. ^,_,^ only thing I hate is the vinyl community that says entry level turntables like Audio Techinca LP60 is junk blah blah blah lol. I used it for a few months. Worked great. Now I'm using the Pioneer PLX-500.. and yup, people in comments say that is junk and I need to spend money and get a real turntable. Smh
I saw someone call this one random album the "greatest thrash album of all time", so naturally I went and listened to it. Come to find out, it was just a bunch of Slayer wannabe's with boring, stereotypical riffs and lyrics for thrash.
Hey Mikearoo, Sorry, I won't ever call you that again.LOL I couldn't help but tell you this, if you want to get rid of fleasthen buy some Borax, it should be in the laundry isle in a grocery store such as walmart. It should be in a white box. Put it on overnight and then vacuum it. That works for me. My mom brought her dumbass flea ridden cat in my housend I laid some of that down and then wam bam! They were gone.Hope that helped!XXX

"You don't like Radiohead? That must be because you don't get it" - Every Radiohead fan ever when I say that I don't listen to Radiohead.
+joebowles06 Yup. Their fans were the WORST in the late 90s early 00s.

Do you have riff raff on Vinyl?
LIVING for these rants! haha
+CaliforniaLuv84 It was sooooooo cold that it made me angry! Haha!
64 degrees cold? That's t shirt weather here in Utah.
I live in Canada where things make sense. 64 degrees is boiling.
Shit, I need a new turntable… but I got no dough. Such is life

Myke C-Town yeah, i love in the nightside eclipse, it's definitely one of my favourites when it comes to that era of black metal.
Myke C-Town It's "Wrath Of The Tyrant", noob, not "tyrants".
64 sounds wonderful to me.
If you are still having a problem, try Diatomaceous earth. It works pretty well.
Where'd you get that shirt? I really like it

Great video, MYKE!!!

I agree af! Music is soo subjective that people make such a big deal about it.
8:35 hahaha spot-on. I love this guy, hilarious!
That comment about Classics was the best! I love how you just rage about everything that gets under your skin in your vids.

Awesome i was wanting to get the Audio Technica LP 120. Just wasnt sure. Awesome ! Thanks and as always great vids :D
lol 64 degrees is so warm
8:35 im on the floor fuckin laughing
i just got over a flea infestation, and i honestly don't even know how i did it. nothing seemed to work at the time. i was hella stressed.
but i had multiple (low rimmed) bowls of warm water and dish soap around near lights, and i vacuumed a lot. used diotomacious earth and pesticides. but you need to neutralize your pets too. get your ass on eBay and buy some generic brand Capstar (you want the FLEA KILLER and FLEA CONTROLLER stuff, the daily medicine and the monthly medicine), and stuff them shits down your cats throat and the fleas will fall off almost instantly.
finally, i never read that it being cold KILLS the fleas, since fleas can live through winter. i read that in colder temperatures fleas are easier to control because eggs take longer to hatch in low temperatures, not that they die. so there is definitely an advantage to it being cold, but it won't kill them. thats what i read, anyway
ESPECIALLY the "because you don't get it". That is a really sad attempt at backing your views up with unapologetic pretension.
Did you ever read Chunklet and their Jaded Robot?
+Joshua Davis I did, but I wasn't an avid reader...
Your conversation about not talking about music reminded me of their Jaded Robot feature. You are very spot on.
The whole "but that's a classic!" argument comes up EVERY time I say I don't care for the Beatles. Yes, they're one of the best respected bands of all time. I just don't like the way they sound, on any of their albums.
viralinfecticide same I'm not a fan of the Beatles
Thoughts on Fugazi Mike?
+coney island lurker Love 'em.
I think the song Know It All by Lagwagon tackles the whole "bands suck after getting press" topic pretty greatly
LMAO "Bearded fuck"
Shouts to Beezy430 for the music! This was great! lol
When people say ..I don't listen to that type of music every band sounds the same or o no all they do is scream
Dude, you’re great and fuckin funny as hell! Just found your channel, and it’s killer. I hang with a group of people in a different part of the VC but clicked on your vid, and I’m glad I did! Bravo, dude! 👏🎶✌️
technics stopped making turntables !I wanna cry
you did talked about your setup but it was with fantano.
+Luis granados Huh?
4:35... thats little too graphical haha...
you have to vacuum 2 times a day for 2 weeks.
12:30 Voice crack
yeah big deal guys get them , wow you cracked the code
+Anatomy Of Melancholy I feel really proud. :) jk It's nothing serious.
lol, I'm very guilty when it comes to recommending projects when people say they don't like an artist. I guess the first step to fixing a problem is admitting you have one...
lol Jax Teller? As in the Sons of Anarchy character?
Im so with you on annoying people's comments. I myself like a little of most genres, but my fav to collect on vinyl is 70s Disco 12" and lps, and most record collectors ,turn theyr noses down on me because its Disco.. Same on them for looking at me like im a freak.
+PodmixtureAgain Ha. That's actually kinda awesome! I don't know shit about the genre but collecting disco LPs just seems rad to me. So keep that shit up! Fuck everyone else!
The amount of shade thrown in this video is hilarious.
But for real I want to share music with people but I'm afraid I'm gonna say at least one or two of the dumbass comments like some that Myke just listed.
thank you for this video. i really really cant stand music snobs like the ones you described
That comicbook guy impression is dead on
LP120 is great! I have it too
FLEAS ON A LEASH?
Holy shit this video was hilarious. 'You Bearded Fuck'
This is war.

I fucking hate that argument of of "_______ influenced ____________ band, so what the fuck is wrong with you?!" I've gotten into this argument with people before over Deicide and Venom.
***** Boring NWOBHM is boring. I never saw the appeal.
Bet those bug bombs will do wonders for your vinyl.
That was mean Myke, I know you only brought up God Hates Us All be Rich O))) asked you that question.
+Osama Bin Wheelie I'm sure it's an inside joke between the TWO of them. People should stop trying to read drama out of simple things that don't involve them.
I gathered that, I wasn't actually upset.
Dude, A-fucking-MEN!
Them fleas finna catch the fade
I was about to comment about how modern country truly isn't actually country is pretty accurate, but then you made the beard comment and yes, I have a beard.
+Andrew Smock Modern country is still country...
I really don't like when people describe music as "commercial", it is an almost meaningless way to describe music.
Totally agree, you buy what you can afford.
The same turntable I have
I know I'm late to this but lavendar will get rid of fleas
Fuck you have alota records 🖤 I've only been collecting for a year now. And only 60. I'm so happy to be all set up now. ^,_,^ only thing I hate is the vinyl community that says entry level turntables like Audio Techinca LP60 is junk blah blah blah lol. I used it for a few months. Worked great. Now I'm using the Pioneer PLX-500.. and yup, people in comments say that is junk and I need to spend money and get a real turntable. Smh
Reminds me of the shitty Yeezus album and all the yeezy stans falling back on the "you just don't get it" stance.
I saw someone call this one random album the "greatest thrash album of all time", so naturally I went and listened to it. Come to find out, it was just a bunch of Slayer wannabe's with boring, stereotypical riffs and lyrics for thrash.
........you like Brand New? ......i love Brand New....
You are an idiot!!... and had me laughing the entire time LOL. Too funny man! I agree with a lot of what you were saying.
Hey Mikearoo,
Sorry, I won't ever call you that again.LOL I couldn't help but tell you this, if you want to get rid of fleasthen buy some Borax, it should be in the laundry isle in a grocery store such as walmart. It should be in a white box. Put it on overnight and then vacuum it. That works for me. My mom brought her dumbass flea ridden cat in my housend I laid some of that down and then wam bam! They were gone.Hope that helped!XXX
