I worked at a pizza shop with a young women when I was in college who HATED everything the Beatles did. She avidly disliked each and every track and loved letting people know. She was a big Country and Western fan... I believe she had to just be being a contrarian about it, but she really seemed to revel in the controversy this opinion inspired. Then again, my grandmother actively disliked all music, in general. She was much too simple a person to even consider something like a contrarian attitude about anything. She actually just did not like music at all. W...T...F???
The fact the George put in the love and effort to figure out the moog in 1969 with zero instructions, properly enough to use it on the record, really shows how cool he thought the technology was.
@@JamesMaharajOfficial There is a video somewhere on YT (I can't find it anymore) by some EMI Studios staff member saying that George's Moog actually broke down a bit: the envelope generator's "R" (release) curve would mistakenly affect the pitch instead of the volume. The intended effect of the "R" portion of the envelope is to gradually fade out the sound when the finger goes off the key. Makes sense. But what was happening was that the pitch would go doooooooown instead. They called in a Moog engineer to fix it (he happened to be still in London) but it took a few hours before he got there and in the meantime George had already found a nice "bug workaround": he incorporated this cool unintended glissando in the song.
Love how it follows "I Want You" on Abbey Road. It's the perfect lead-in. The riff at the end of John's tune is so heavy, and it goes on and on and on. Like an endless swamp of infinity. Then it finally ends and there's a moment of silence. Then George's opening guitar chords of "Here Comes the Sun." Utterly epiphanic. Every single time. God bless the Beatles!

I waited to hear my awesome song played over the PA and reap the credit for enlightening my schoolmates...and I waited...and I waited...I was so bummed. Finally, 3 weeks later, I got a note to come to the office. They said “why haven’t you come up here to pick up your album? By the way, that was an excellent choice! The ‘grownups’ really enjoyed it.” It turns out they played my record the ONE day I was absent. D’oh!!! But as you can tell, I’m totally over it. Lol! 😂

It's arguable that laid the ground work for people like Hans Zimmer who uses Moog nearly exclusively as his analogue synth.

So, to “school” them, I brought in HCTS! It A) had a morning theme, B) was the freakin BEATLES for Pete’s sake! So.... Lol! 😂
He put in so much emotion in his songs. I believe he thought he lived and breathed for what he wrote. He is my all-time favorite. I love all four of them, but in the end George turned out to be my all-time favorite. Rest in peace George ✌️🙂🌄💙☮️ here comes the sun
Great story. I raised my daughter on classic rock and she loves it. She proudly wore her Eagle's concert shirt to school, (4th grade, she's 21 now) and didn't care that others didn't know who the Eagle's were.
Another great video, Hobs! Also, the quarantine beard is coming in nicely!
Excellent summary and information about a great song. Thanks.
