People that are not truly interested in guitar need lessons Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, etc. never took a lesson. Does anybody need to teach you how to masturbate? Stop worshiping and play the damn guitar.
I lived on the Heemraadsingel in Rotterdam and I remember one guy on his pushbike with a long trailer attached to it, carrying the largest stand double bass nearly every day heading up to the Music Academy on the Pieter De Hoogweg. It was a funny sight as the Bass and Trailer were twice the size of the pushbike. The Collings guitar you are playing Paul has to be one of the sweetest guitars I have heard and the garden you are in is not to bad either. How I miss the Netherlands.
This is one of the few and best videos explaining the complicated technique of playing a Beatles song right.. Almost every person trying to teach you how to play Beatles songs fall far short of how they are really played. Syncopated rhythm is the key to much of the Beatles songs and I can agree cause I use to play in a Beatles tribute band for 10 years. There is always more to the Beatles then you think and they were masters of artistic composition, melodic themes and dynamic expression. This likes of which we will not likely see again the next 1000 years!
Very true about syncopation. They were swinging all over the place but you don't always notice it because it doesn't feel like what musicians normally do with syncopation. Oftentimes it's texture on a simple melody (as here), but that texture elevates the whole thing.
as an intermediate guitar connoisseur i would have to say that collings is about the best acoustic guitar i have ever heard/seen! DAMMMNNNN!!!!!! :) of course your playing/teaching is superb! many thx!
Love this lesson, really explores and elucidates the spectrum of details that George was implementing, and what it takes to be a guitar wizard. Don't think too much, just play the melody on the up, 3 chords simple, and... And, don't play chord notes that are higher than the melody line!!!
Amazing. You clearly put so much effort into your videos and this is probably one of my favourites. Also one of my favourite songs and this video has changed the way I play it.
Paul this was probably one of the best covered video explaining Here Comes The Sun. As a musician and Beatles fan, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. This was a pleasure!

Amazing! Martin Mull once said: "Talking about music is like dancing about architecture" --- a great quote. But Paul, you demonstrate how one actually can talk about music and deepen one's appreciation.
Watching that, totally felt like when we had lessons outside at school. It was really pleasant hearing the background, but at the same time, not having it interfere with the lesson at all. As for the lesson, absolutely superbly presented with such a chilled out vibe. Like a friend talking.
Fantastic information! Great presentation! I’ve listened to that song, and many others, for years but trying to play it “correctly “ or “like George did” is not as simple as knowing the chords or melody patterns. I have worn out cassette tapes and scratched up my albums (yes I’m old) trying to get songs down right either for playing in a band or just expanding my ability and repertoire. I like the way you explain the feeling or dynamics in the song and show exactly what or how the chord progressions make you feel as you create tension and then resolve it. Just beautiful. Thank you!
Absolutely love watching you breaking down the songs I love. (I came back from Liverpool today and the sun came out after rain - which brought this song to mind which is why I searched for it.)
It is the mark of a true master that their work seems simple and beautiful. It is only by getting closer, deeper, that the reality becomes clear. It is not pedantic to dive deeply into a master's work, it is a tribute to their art, and an expression of love. George left the world a legacy of beauty.

George Harrison used many of the same techniques as early as Rubber Soul's "If I Needed Someone" another song with syncopated strumming around D shapes with a capoed guitar at the seventh fret. (He was probably influenced by The Byrds' "Bells of Rhymey" out earlier that year or maybe "Norwegian Wood.") George Harrison also went to the well again with his demo of "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" capoed at the fifth fret. A lot of melodies can be created noodling with D shapes.
After about 6 months of lessons when I was around 12, I would sit there glassy eyed, mouth slightly open, drooling while my teacher tried ti explain chord structure etc to me. My brain just couldn't connect to what he was saying. I had already played for 4 years, (not that great but not bad) and thought some lessons would help. I quit. Some people can do something but not comprehend why they can do it. I can play chords, solo, write songs but when it comes to to things like what Paul talks about, I'm lost.

Thanks Paul. This video inspired me to learn how to play the guitar, it’s been 5 months now!
It’s been 3 years now
This is one of the few and best videos explaining the complicated technique of playing a Beatles song right.. Almost every person trying to teach you how to play Beatles songs fall
far short of how they are really played. Syncopated rhythm is the key to much of the Beatles
songs and I can agree cause I use to play in a Beatles tribute band for 10 years. There is always more to the Beatles then you think and they were masters of artistic composition,
melodic themes and dynamic expression. This likes of which we will not likely see again
the next 1000 years!
:) of course your playing/teaching is superb! many thx!
I guessed it was "Here comes the sun" just by the title. Took me 40 years to get it right.
Buying a guitar just to be able to play this riff😅
Almost exactly what I did. Year and a half later I can’t play it well enough for everyone to know what it isn’t. But it is t right
40 years???? lol
Lol same, I looked at the capo at 7th fret and instantly knew it was that.
My first guess was Day Tripper.
You have that ability to explain the “how to” and make it easy to grasp. 👍🏽
Best teacher on UA-cam by a country mile! Every lesson is spot on and explained so well. Thank you 🙏🏻
Thank you so much. George and all the Beatles were skilled musicians and underrated as not only great song composers but talented musicians.
The genius of George...you did a very good job showing off this tune.
Love this lesson, really explores and elucidates the spectrum of details that George was implementing, and what it takes to be a guitar wizard. Don't think too much, just play the melody on the up, 3 chords simple, and...
And, don't play chord notes that are higher than the melody line!!!
That Collings sounds reeeeeeaaaallllly good!! Great videos man
Amazing. You clearly put so much effort into your videos and this is probably one of my favourites. Also one of my favourite songs and this video has changed the way I play it.
Man! You're a natural! I see you brushing off offers from major broadcasters and even Hollywood.
Well done, your style is educational and refreshing.
Paul this was probably one of the best covered video explaining Here Comes The Sun. As a musician and Beatles fan, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. This was a pleasure!
I've been playing this song all day since I watched this video. You're a wonderful teacher! Keep up the great work. ^-^
I actually love Paul's videos so much. He always puts so much effort into the editing and video idea that always makes for an entertaining video. He makes a seemingly uninteresting topic become so engaging and intriguing and 100% has the highest quality guitar related content on UA-cam - Keep it up !
Such a good analysis! Pointing out individual parts that make this so good!
Your teaching is so on point. You identify the subtle nuances that makes the song what it is. Thanks!
Amazing!
Martin Mull once said: "Talking about music is like dancing about architecture" --- a great quote.
But Paul, you demonstrate how one actually can talk about music and deepen one's appreciation.
Beautiful song written by a beautiful soul
Paul, that is one gorgeous guitar, wow!
Just what is that! Martin?
Clive it’s a Collings. A hand built boutique manufacturer out of Austin, Texas. They are phenomenal instruments.
@@CodeBlueRaptor Thank you so much, sweet guitar....and beyond my price range! :(
you're a gorgeous guitar
The Trump grab them by the capos
I love this song, thank you for this fascinating insight. You're a beautiful guitarist Paul.
Just a wonderful tune. Thank you for helping me play it better.
Watching that, totally felt like when we had lessons outside at school. It was really pleasant hearing the background, but at the same time, not having it interfere with the lesson at all. As for the lesson, absolutely superbly presented with such a chilled out vibe. Like a friend talking.
Idk why, idk how, but after I slept on this info I learned how to do the strumming in balance with the melody. So thank you, Paul Davids.
Paul coming with a new video = here comes the sun ☀️
Fantastic information! Great presentation! I’ve listened to that song, and many others, for years but trying to play it “correctly “ or “like George did” is not as simple as knowing the chords or melody patterns. I have worn out cassette tapes and scratched up my albums (yes I’m old) trying to get songs down right either for playing in a band or just expanding my ability and repertoire. I like the way you explain the feeling or dynamics in the song and show exactly what or how the chord progressions make you feel as you create tension and then resolve it. Just beautiful. Thank you!
okay but the way this guy describes chords is so personifying
Absolutely love watching you breaking down the songs I love. (I came back from Liverpool today and the sun came out after rain - which brought this song to mind which is why I searched for it.)
It is the mark of a true master that their work seems simple and beautiful. It is only by getting closer, deeper, that the reality becomes clear. It is not pedantic to dive deeply into a master's work, it is a tribute to their art, and an expression of love. George left the world a legacy of beauty.
When you Fingerstyle this and feel disatvantaged without a pick ...damn you Paul, you always sound so awesome! ;)
Get a pick it's like 5 bucks for a pack
That guitar sounds absolutely gorgeous. Wow. Also, great video.

Between George and yourself Paul, I've almost cracked this beauty. Wonderful video.
I've been playing it like that for over 40 years. One of my favourite songs to play.
How to spot a pro guitarist: he talks about dynamics. ;) Excellent stuff, keep it up, Paul!
I really love your tutorial. Love this song and your style of playing it. Thanks a lot.
I think George is not thinking of all these concepts when writing, just what sounds good. Well maybe except for "My Sweet Lord."😆
Give Me Love and Dark Horse (with A7 and E chords) come to mind too as great capoed George guitar parts.
One of the most beautiful sounding guitars on UA-cam.
People talk about how the Beatles aren’t technical but why do we have a hard time covering songs like this and blackbird? It’s the feel.
I'm out in France on day 1 of Corona lock-down. I'm going to spend the day in my sunny garden learning this. Thanks Paul.
I don't know why I love watching music videos like this. I don't play the guitar or even know how to put on a capo.
You are the type of people that musicians need. You maybe don't play an instrument, but you have such an affinity for the artform
You do know how to write "capo", that's a good start.
you could figure out a capo lol
After about 6 months of lessons when I was around 12, I would sit there glassy eyed, mouth slightly open, drooling while my teacher tried ti explain chord structure etc to me. My brain just couldn't connect to what he was saying. I had already played for 4 years, (not that great but not bad) and thought some lessons would help.
I quit. Some people can do something but not comprehend why they can do it. I can play chords, solo, write songs but when it comes to to things like what Paul talks about, I'm lost.
You have a great understanding of the intricacies of this beautiful and difficult to get right song. Thank you for making them so much clearer.
Thank you, Paul! You're a gifted and generous teacher.
This is the acoustic song I’m having trouble learning. I have the basic notes down but then when you throw in all that other stuff it gets a little difficult for me but I’ll keep working on it!
Picking and strumming ~ 3:59
Filler notes ~ 6:22
Syncopation ~ 7:42
Dynamics ~ 9:09
You are very kind and very patient! Thank you for all your hard work!🙏❤
Paul, Paul, Paul! You are so good, my guitar playing friend. Your voice and instructions are so clear it's unbelievable. I have to give this one a good shot because of you. ❤
Dude. I learned the strumming version from GuitarZeroToHero (which is awesome btw), and never could figure out how to get the 'crisp' feel of original George version. This video is the answer.
Hello, I hope you are doing well today. I'm Patti from Long Beach California, just looking for a new friend and i saw your pic here.
Merry Christmas to you.
BEAUTIFUL JOB IN EXPLAINING IT ALL MY FRIEND...BRAVO!!!
Hey Paul I love you and your content!!! In my personal opinion one of the best guitarists!! I also really love the beard!!! Please keep posting I can’t get enough!!! I love you so much Paul!!!!!!!! You are very welcome inspirational for a young guitarist like me! Thanks for posting ❤️❤️🎸
I REALLY liked this video. The song, the background, your explaining, just everything. Keep it up!
Explaining how the chords are supposed to make you feel - almost like why George arranged the intro that way. You’re amazing lol.
Excellent. I’m working on this with my teacher at the moment and he explains it exactly as you do here. He said that too many guitar players give up on this because it’s difficult but if you persevere it is very beneficial for technique. Fortunately, I can do this song pretty good but I have spent a lot of time lately working on pick accuracy.
Hello John, I hope you are doing well today. I'm Patti from Long Beach California, just looking for a new friend and i saw your pic here.

Loved the adds on this video about apps to play piano and singing 👍🎵🎤
Much needed lesson. I learned the riff just a few days back. This video helped a lot. Thanks Paul!
This is just what I was looking for, Paul, thank you, a deep dive into this song. I wanna start playing it for people but I wanna get it right first, this helps so much to understand it.
George Harrison is probably the most underrated guitar player ever. His subtleties are amazing.
Thank you Sir for this educational video.
