Fantastic news. But the best news of the decade is the imminent re-release of the 'Let It Be' film, and the release of the new accompanying documentary. That was announced the day after I finally gave up hoping - a very weird coincidence given that hope lasted over 30 years.

just what is "Billboard’s Hot Rock Songs chart" anyway? I always preferred "here comes the sun" to "something." in fact, next to "golden slumbers" I think "something" is the weakest song on the album. "here comes the sun" and "think for yourself" are 2 of my favorite beatles' songs. but then again, I have MANY favorite beatles' songs.

The morning they announced that George had died I was driving in north Columbus on I-71 to work and they played this on the radio, it had been raining and when song started the most beautiful rainbow was in the sky. People were pulling over and pointing at it. You knew everyone was listening to this song. I cried all the way to work.

Just came in from an all-nighter. Sitting on the couch with my wife to be and my best friend - just talking about life and all that kind of stuff. The couch faced the east wall of this trailer. The wall had multiple windows. Radio on but the volume was somewhat subdued. You know what they played. All three of use were speechless. Joe Bob summed it up nicely - " I couldn't believe how that experience made me feel". Wishing all of you positive experiences that open your mind to the bigger picture in this play we live called "Life".

@@garlandhogan3158 Didn't the Beatles have many of these brilliant accidents, too? Or do you think they were more talent directed accidents? SOME accidents are on purpose. The resident Muse strikes a cord!

    • @garlandhogan3158
      @garlandhogan3158 4 роки тому

@@debdriev2479 Great questions! Did The Beatles do this sort of thing more than others? And, weren't these actually more like creative choices than accidents.
At the risk of being too analytical about an artistic process, I would say two things. The Beatles (and George Martin, of course), deliberately stretched the forms and methods of recording far more often, and far more broadly, than most well-known pop musicians. So, lots more chances to make brilliant accidents/choices outside of the usually pop-making processes.
Second, I believe that Paul is a genius; John was a rebel who really rocked hard; George was a fairly good musician whose Great Soul later shown through; and, Ringo was lucky. But the combination of the four of them, at that cultural moment, resulted in collective brilliance. Their records surpass most of the popular music of any era. (Yet.)
So, yes, I believe that many of their records include talent-directed accidents of the highest order. Now, please Deb, don't let the haters start hating on me. These are just my opinions, and I respect different ones than mine. I can easily make the case for Lennon's genius as a singer, especially "White Album" era. But Ringo as a great drummer? Sorry. (A subtly charismatic character...OK. But as a musician? No. Great drummers play like Harvey Mason and Omar Hakim and Lenny White.)
Does the Resident Muse have intriguing opinions about other kinds of music, or just about our favorite Fab Four?

"Here Comes The Sun" has always been my favourite George Harrison song. I forget that it's considered a "Beatles" song. George was my favourite "Beatle" from the time that I saw them appear on Ed Sullivan 9 February 1964. He loomed large in my life with the "Beatles" and with his solo career. As is discussed in this video, at the time the song was being recorded, in our part of the world, my family and friends had just experienced a major Hurricane. I was barely 12 and our lives were going to be different. Different, but, at least we were intact and safe. And now, he is still a huge part of my life. For a brief time, I drove a VW Beetle and, in keeping with the tradition of naming my vehicles, his name was "George". Unfortunately, he was totaled by a terrible driver. I now drive a Volkswagen EOS. He is George 2.O and is a hard-top convertible. Nothing quite like putting in a George Harrison CD, putting the top down and having nothing betwixt you and the sky. My family knows already that at my memorial service, I wish to have "Here Comes The Sun" played as it is such an uplifting song.
Many thanks for taking your time to put this video together and please tell your wife "many thanks" for her patience and support.

I am 68 years old and have enjoyed the beatles since before they were on Ed Sullivan .. I want to say thank you to your wife for her patience and understanding.. She has no idea how we oldsters are still affected by the beatles.. not just there music.. but our youth, our dreams and our hopes are tied up in this music.. We can remember what it was like to be young and healthy, vigorous and strong.. when the world was full of possibilities and we could do anything.. But have now drained down to just mere existence and memories.. Tell her what you are doing here is not just trying to make a few bucks on a subject you like.. But that you are introvertly firing up the memories and joys of the youth of a whole generation.. We are on our way to the Halls of ancestry to move off into obscurity.. But until we all leave.. let your husband bring us our memories of joy and peace.. For we certainly did have a lot of dang fun! thanks.. carry on!

John Lennon's voice (actually, his NOT singing harmony) changes everything!
Lennon has a totally distinctive voice. I would describe his voice as: sarcastic, confrontational, intellectual, mocking, and dark. That is exactly what you DON'T want on Here Comes The Sun! If Lennon sang on it, the title would have to be, Here's That Damn Sun Again.

I used to play this vinyl album to death through earphones as a teenager, used to drive my folks nuts. (I am 59 now) But it is so brilliant it is iconic, we have to be grateful to the Beatles and support staff for their professionalism and singlemindedness. Great to know it is still being enjoyed and appreciated by youngsters today. I heard the missing chord some time back and agree it is hard to unhear, it would have added another level of surreal artistry to the song imho. Good vlog.

"If you haven't listened to it on vinyl... " 😂 I bought my copy in 1975 or so! What people forget in the new deification of vinyl is that every play wore at the grooves, till finally it was like you were listening beside a crackling camp fire! And unless you were a rich hi fi buff, that was the only way to hear music! Not that we cared. Previous generations had put up with 78s after all.

Here Comes The Sun is probably my all time favorite or any artist in any genre. That album was released when I was 12 years old, and going through significant changes in my life. But that one song gave me a happy outlook. As an aside The song by George on his first solo album "what Is Life" was released at the same time as my grandfathers death in 1971. It fit what I felt at the time as my maternal grandparents raised me until then. "What Is My Life Without Your Love". Now I am just an old foolish man that still identifies with the music of that time so long ago.

On a weird note, I happened to be living in London as a child from 1967-69. Those two years had the fewest sunny days on record. I still remember my delight at getting a sunny day on my seventh birthday. I've always thought that was part of the reason there were two songs with sun in the title on Abbey Road.

They were so different that what we had been hearing on commercial AM radio (before FM).

Based on the way you guys provide clear and interesting details and Factual information about the song, music and Artist. The way your wife and you are presenting and producing your show STANDS OUT and it has a Father, an Inventor. In 1969 a Radio DJ thought just providing the artist name and spinning records was boring and he wanted to try something NEW but his boss REJECTED his suggestions! So,..took it upon himself to risk sure firing and his very next show, he SHOCKED and PLEASED his listeners by giving a little story and background and personal facts about the song, music, artist and even some highlights and history of the band and their lives. His name was,
    Casey Kasem!
He was very successful and started his Top 40 countdown in 1970 to a long, long successful profitable career and gave birth to a format and style that NEVER existed before him! Thank you and Definitely your wife for today’s “Here Comes The Sun” piece and the future projects!
