Couldn’t agree more on the score, it’s not perfect but to me it feels like what pop punk should be. Not to call any specific band out but this made me reconsider the genre as a whole, I really think they nailed it with this one despite some slower moments
I had never heard of this band until I stumbled upon "Time & Space" and it ended up being my AOTY. I feel like this one took a bit longer to grow on me because of the slower songs but I realized they're good "catch your breath" tracks. IDK if this will be AOTY but it'll be close.
Maybe but not quite as abrupt - TF went full shoegaze in a single album, Turnstile definitely trying new things (very successfully) while still pretty rooted in their classic sound
I'd argue the people riding hype with blinders like that on wouldn't care anyways with that kind of attention span 🤷 This album slays the whole way through, though. I bet it'll be a breakthrough for them and that they're going to land on the radar of some bigger names
I wouldn't pay it any mind, the people who are hyped about Kanye probably wouldn't listen to something like Turnstile. People will only expand their horizons if they want to. I think it’s just out of focus
@@WheezyBeardLover let us suspend our disbelief and choose to believe it was blurred out by the editor because that would be kinda funny.
Couldn’t agree more on the score, it’s not perfect but to me it feels like what pop punk should be. Not to call any specific band out but this made me reconsider the genre as a whole, I really think they nailed it with this one despite some slower moments
he’s taking ages to iron that yellow flannel for donda
I had never heard of this band until I stumbled upon "Time & Space" and it ended up being my AOTY. I feel like this one took a bit longer to grow on me because of the slower songs but I realized they're good "catch your breath" tracks. IDK if this will be AOTY but it'll be close.
Saw them live last week and they sounded great. Album has elements of 311, Janes Addiction, and RHCP.....a really good listen.
I can't thank you enough for introducing me to this band, it's restored my faith in music. Cheers, Fantano.
He’s saving the 10 for Donda.
he’ll give it a 5 or a 6
This is one of the best albums I've ever had the honor of listening to.
the evolution of Turnstile's sound reminds me of Title Fight (in a really good way). Glow On is a banger
Maybe but not quite as abrupt - TF went full shoegaze in a single album, Turnstile definitely trying new things (very successfully) while still pretty rooted in their classic sound
@@Joshua-ww1fz I really wouldn't say new it's more just putting things that they were more inspired by to be more authentic outside of hardcore
Fuck Donda, Turnstile deserves more love and recognition
its always a good day when anthony is wearing a yellow flannel.
Thanks for the recommendation, I enjoyed listening to this album! it was a fun listen :)
This is a 10 for me.
Best album of 2021. GLOW ON.
Shame these lesser known albums will get ignored by so many just because they happened to be released near a much more hyped album.
Specially when in this case, the lesser expected album happens to be extremely better than the overhyped lame ass one.
I'd argue the people riding hype with blinders like that on wouldn't care anyways with that kind of attention span 🤷
This album slays the whole way through, though. I bet it'll be a breakthrough for them and that they're going to land on the radar of some bigger names
I wouldn't pay it any mind, the people who are hyped about Kanye probably wouldn't listen to something like Turnstile. People will only expand their horizons if they want to. Also Turnstile are already really popular in the Hardcore punk / skater scene, they are perhaps the most accessible hardcore band right now with this album and their previous album Time & Space
ty for putting me onto some amazing bands like black midi, squid, bcnr and now turnstile.
Pumped on this review. One question how did he give time and space a 5 and this an 8
"I don't know whether to mosh or ascend to heaven" sums up the record entirely.
Fuck yea i love turnstile, imo theyre the best band since the 90s and even though theyr old shit is amazing this is up ther too
Kudos for the Meantime profile pic. What a fucking album!
