There is a reason all of Nashville uses tube amps and LA ! Tubes are King always! Unless you have to play ultra low volumes and need that Saturated low volume dirt. I used transistor on the road for 10 years biggest mistake of my life or one of the biggest anyways!

Congrats on the score Doug, before I sold all my tube amps my main guy was my Peavey 5150 Block letter head. if i was using my own cab its was the matching 5150 cab. And that thing totally owned, only sold all my amps as I wasn't playing and wanted to downsize but man that thing flat out roared. Only amp that actually managed to beat it for me (and only just beat it mind you) was my Engl Blackmore head. The tone you can pull outta that thing is straight fire. Vic actually inquired about my 5150 as I sold it as a half stack but it was right around when Covid hit. So we couldn't make it happen. I think he ended up getting one anyway and I still managed to sell mine. But yeah fire breathing slabs of hardware nonetheless. Haha, given you got both Denis and Farrugia in the Aftershockers it doesn't surprise me there's tons of Megadeth.
Having owned both the Blackmore and the Peavey (6505), I can flat out say that the Blackmore sounds tiny in comparison at high volumes. It's a better studio amp, more refined, better cleans, great chunk at lower volumes. But at band volumes, nothing beats a 5150. Perhaps a JCM 800...
@@JaimeNoro I’d definitely have to agree, the higher you go with the Blackmore (and possibly any Engl) the more compressed it can get as where the 5150 just continues to roar with a big open sound. That said it also gets wildly out of control as well 😄
Yeah bro those amps are absolute powerhouses Total gain and saturation for any type of metal I have a 65 05 plus 112 and I run a mxr 12 band EQ and the loop a boss blues driver in the front end to add more articulation and some other pedals Eddie I believe played through a 6505 before he was played through his evh which was nothing but a 6505
You have to get an mxr 12 band EQ and run it through the looper in the back and you can dial that thing in plus it puts more gain in the preamp tubes also play through a marshall due super lead that I have hot rod and out with JJ preamp and power tubes
For funsies - you can run the out of your Helix into the effects loop of the 6505. So you’re using it as a tube power amp. Turn off cab sim on your Helix. Use the 412 cab. You may likey

You can scoop the meds out of that amp is how I run it also and it's a freaking powerhouse put the mid on like a half a point or one and a half and then put your trouble on seven presents on seven and your base on like five or six and you're getting on five and a half or six and you will not put your guitar down
Once Van Halen left Peavey, People stopped praising Peavey Peavey are cheaper but built to last thru a Nuclear Holocausts. BUT, Look how friggin happy you are! At the end of the day, that is what counts. I got a friend that owns a couple of Marshall Halfstacks, but uses a Peavey Bandit and he sounds amazing.

Just what the doctor ordered I use nothing but tube amps man articulation and gain is 10 times of a class a amp I can't even play through a class a amp anymore it doesn't have anything compared to what I'm used to through my PV to amp and Marshall to them are you still pedals through the fox loops
