Am I the only one who thinks it's cool as hell that you're the first person to demo this amp?? Seriously, that's incredible. Congratulations Kyle
I love when the dog wanders in randomly, that was cute. Dogs are the best.
This is about as perfect of a demo of this for me personally that could be. My playing and tone tastes are similar, so this just slays.
I absolutely love the aesthetic of this amp. I always thought that the 6505 lost something in the looks department when Eddie left. . .
@@0megalul309 nah its iconic just doesnt fit the 5150 type amps but like the ultra series for example wouldnt look right without it
I met Misha at his clinic and he told me the transformers used in the Invective were cloned from one of Ed’s old plexi’s left behind at Peavey.
I thought that sounded great! John Fields played it smart by using the transformer from the invective.( love that amp) I do notice more clarity. Peavey has made some of the greatest amps of all time. Sounds like they continue to do so even if it's overseas. I would like it if Peavey just let John Fields do his dream amp. That dude is an amp wizard.
The 6505 / 5150 line from Peavey has always been amazing!! Been playing a 5150 for 20+ years.... This new version of the "+" / "II" Sounds awesome. Well done!
I never really listened to a Peavey amp demonstration. It’s so articulate, clear and has a nice throaty resonance. Those bold letters he behind that black grill makes it look menacing in a no nonsense kinda way. Great demo!
So stoked for you that you got this opportunity! Well deserved, congrats
Great demo, it sounds awesome. Congrats on getting the scoop it's well deserved.
I dig it. Cant wait to hear the 1992 OG and the hopefully still slightly less present cocked wah mids! The standard 6505/5150 always sounded a little more pleasing to my ears
It looks so much better than the normal 6505s. Sounds great obv. Great stuff man.
A beautiful dog interrupting any video is a win for everyone!
In all seriousness, this amp sounds really sick! Thank you for introducing it to the world!!!
😁
You slayed this demo!! Loved it. From your demo, I think it sounds every bit s as good as my 6505+. Maybe even better. The upper mids seem to be more pronounced. But I’m a huge fan of the 5150/6505+ lines. Awesome demo bro 🤘
Fantastic job on the demo/review.I had no idea these would be coming out! Now my only problem is that I am torn between the 5150 Iconic and this : ) I've never seen one of your videos before, as this came up in my feed today, but I really enjoyed it, have subscribed and am looking forward to more! Thank you for doing what you do!
You are the patron saint of amp demos. Bless you and your work!
Hell yeah, I’m sold. Congrats on your opportunity to unveil this bad boy.
This is awesome. I have some nostalgia for the 6505s but I didn't forget about its shortcomings when I did own it. I'll definitely take an updated 6505, really interested in this one.
Awesome! Glad to finally hear this beast. It's pretty much a 6505 with a touch more definition / something. Sounds massive. I don't plan on buying one yet (moving life etc). Ampcraft1992 / audio interface for now lol. but I'm glad they kept it classic. This will likely be the amp people buy if they want the spirit of the OG 5150 without paying through the nose for a used one with 20+ year old stuff in it. Hope the price is right. And EL34 option = extra goodness.
Great demo!
Ordered. Tomorrow will be here! 🤘🏼👏🏼🤘🏼
Trusted your review! Excited!
Great vid 👍. So pleased Peavey seem to be getting their shit together.
i hope i get to try this out. I just found an OG 6505 at a pawn shop for 500 bucks. Will be picking it up soon for the collection since prices are so high right now. Love this channel and the community.
I always liked the EVH 5150 III amps for continuing the 5150/ 6505 legacy and think they sound great, BUT I never bought one, got another 6505+ instead, don't know why... I'm just a Peavey guy xD So happy about this video and can't wait to hear the 1992 version. So stoked, will definitely preorder one of those!
And as always, Kyle - heavy riffs, I get to know what I need to know, simple and common gear setups that might happen in 99% of all rehearsal rooms. Thanks again, keep it up and have a heavy xmas!
Good review sick amp it fits in with the rest of the line of 🤴 Peavey 5150,6505
Dig it. I have never owed, oddly enough, any 5150 variant. For sure interested in this.
I'll get one at some point but will hang on to my 6505+. I'm looking forward to seeing how they stack up against each other.
Dig that way more than the regular 6505 cosmetics. Good on Peavey. Nice job man :)
Sounds great. I think it does sound a little better than the old 6505. I already have an Invective, which I bought because I wanted the 5150 heavy tone with a better clean channel, and I got exactly what I wanted and paid for. I wish I had more opportunities to turn it up, but I've been playing at home by myself for the last 2 years.
get a two notes torpedo captor! I have one on my Invective 120 and you can push the amp's volume higher while still staying within bedroom levels, and it really opens up the tone of the amp!
Same here man, i got the Invective and its an awesome amp. But, I haven’t really been able to crank it in the 2 years I’ve had it. Sounds great though.. i love it
Yep sounds like a 6505. Great seeing the ltd ec1000t silverburst. Probably my favorite guitar you have.
Great demo, Kyle! 🍻 Like the amp a lot! 🤘🏻
A comparison with the Ampcraft 1992-plugin would be more than cool!
Very awesome. Great demo...definitely holds it's own.
Man I want one now. I will for sure purchase one once they go on sale.
Great Job Kyle. Very thorough video 👍🏻
Sounds awesome, as to be expected. I love my 6505+ and I would not hate the idea of getting one of these anyway. Lol.
Sounds great. Nice tone
After playing exclusively through 5150 II/6505+ heads for over 20 years I am excited to see an update. Like many others I hate that they are made in China. But damn.....Those people have to eat too. And I haven't heard any real evidence that quality has dropped. I just hope the price is realistic. Pricing is crazy right now. Definitely not the best time to introduce "new" models.
Great job as always Kyle. It's always good to hear a 5150 run through a Boogie cab.
Sounds awesome!! Great demo!!
Being that I hated my Invective I was worried about the new transformers. Pound for pound my JSX and 5150 spanked my Invective.
Weird, I was able to get my 5150 to sound pretty damn close to the Invective. I think it's a great amp
Kyle what's up glad i stumbled on this lol! cuz i might buy this when it finally ships out, soon I have heard !!
Sounds incredible, wow.
I bought a used 5150 ll head just before Ed passed. It was like 1/3 of the asking price today and in “bedroom” condition. Never had any Peavey amps before but it is really nice.
This is the BEST news since my late 90s bandit silver stripe sheffield finally bit the dust.
Love your Balaguer Espada, I want to have my own spec'd one someday.
To me, a bias test on the rear is a great feature. The green channel doesn't sound that bad on its own, but the red one is where it shines the most.
I've always been a fan of the tone from the Peavey version of the 5150/6505, but I really only liked the way the old ones looked. I like the rounded logo and big numbers and stuff, so I was always holding out to get a 5150II. I knew the circuits were exactly the same, I never cared if it was made in China or USA, I just frankly thought the 6505 line was ugly lmao I'm glad I waited
Dude, congratulations. This is a BIG deal for you, getting to be the first. You've earned it man, and your channel is one of the best, if not the best, crude amp demoing platforms on here. Keep them coming!
Really great demo, especially with an EQ setting similar to my own tonal tastes, when you bring those mids back down to 3. I really disliked how the SugarH20 demo sounded for this amp, but your sweeping through the eq range really helps.
I actually really enjoy the sound of when you slam the Green Channel! I never really messed around with my Green Channel other than kinda-sorta cleans in a live situation back when I was using a 5150 Block. I agree that the top end sounds richer and more defined (maybe transformers? other compoment tweaks?).
The one thing that I do not like about the 6505's is the quackie/spongey 620Hz, that doesn't go away even when the mids are dialed back, and that trait is still present in this model. This is a tonal character that my 5150 Block didn't have, in a good way (loaded with all Sovtek pre/power tubes, not the original unicorn 90s tubes).
I bought one. Not disappointed. ❤
Great review. i have the 5150 II it's just a killer amp.
Certainly.more imoressed with this than the Iconic 5150, and I think all the new bits are on the money. Will check this out, always wanted a 5150 II.
liked this over the iconic, peavey rules!!
Sounds good I’ll need to hear the clean channel though 🤟🏻🤓
Aw yis lad, been eagerly awaiting this one.
That spice at the beginning, I'm dying dude lol
Here we go!
That Ltd with the emgs sounds amazing through this amp.
Dog cameos = instant thumbs up.
(Would probably have liked it anyway, but *might’ve* forgotten)
Man that amps sounds awesome!!
My.fucking.guy. Another great video! Always giving me just what I need to know. Thank you and congrats man. Super stoked for you on this one!
Nice to hear some bolt thrower in a demo
Sounds great, that guitar looks solid as a stone
Sounded pretty sick with those actives
I’ve always liked the 6505 clean channel. I think it’s much better than most other high gain amps. Second to the Orange Rockerverb in my opinion.
Sounds so good!
Sounds great. Is it now possible to bias the amp above 20 ma without modifying it?
Ohh wow just in time for my mid-afternoon poop
Great vid. The LTD def made it shine.
I think this looks much better than the 6505+. Are you going to do a shootout between this, the 5150 iconic, and/or some other 5150 style amps? Also, I watched some of ur vids and decided to subscribe. Good content man!
There was a time where I could find 6505+ for 400-600usd all day about 10 years ago. Now they go for a little more
I got my 6505+ 120W for about $700 last year, before inflation & gear flippers really spiked prices.
Great demo and great presentation/explanation. But thanks but no thanks I will stick with my ENGL amps. But then again Peavey's pricepoints are pretty reasonable so always a good buy, and it is the heavy music recording standard
Man sounds so good!
Hahaha the doggy would like to be involved please and thank you
Export amps have had the IEC socket for a long time but the selectable voltage down to 100/110V is new
The full 120 watt 6505 and 6505+ have never had the detachable power cable until now
My VKll 100w has a voltage selector. It also is built for both 6L6 and EL34.The VKll has a lot of features i wish the 6505 had like its but it just does not sound nearly as good.
Sounds great man! Would you consider doing a review of that Balaguer Espada you’re playing? There are few reviews on YT, and the only ones I’ve seen on that model are in russian.
Sounds really good.
this thing looks and sounds so fucking good. that Helvetica font and being centered is long overdue. Definitely trying to snag one
Tight work KB
John Fields? I have talked to him before on FB! He’s a very nice man
Hmm... My block is more mid forward than any 5150ii or 6505+ I've ever tried, and I've tried a ton of them for years. What the ii/+ have had is more bass cut and smoother high end. Josh Middleton's results are very similar to mine if you need an example.
Original block is noticeably more aggressive.
The reason why I tested repeatedly is because I have a particular block letter that was owned by a guitarist that is special to me and I tried to replace it so that I could preserve the amp. It was also my first 100 watt head.
This isn't just a question of tubes, because I've transferred the tubes from amp to amp. I have all the old tubes and the different versions too... Single and dual getters... The old Chinese preamp tubes.. I have boxes and boxes of tubes.
I've also done mods to 5150ii's to make their preamp more like the blocks and non + 6505's, and boas nodded the originals to match the bias settings as well.
One thing I wish had happened is MIDI implementation.
I'm also curious about the implementation of the Invective's transformer... I haven't spent any time with the Invective but have avoided it due to cost and because several people have said that it sounds noticeably different than the original amps... Perhaps colder? But it could be other changes in the circuit or something.
Whatever the case, I will be taking both of my remaining blocks to the store for a head to head when they're available.
If it stands up I'll be very excited and I'll bring a new amp home to do the full tube swaps etc.
If it all works out, I'll finally be able to preserve my OG amp.
Th final thing I'd like to say is... I sure hope Peavey returns to having a robust parts department. Ever since a bunch of their production has moved to Asia, it's been increasingly difficult to get parts from them. Their parts service has been invaluable over the years.. Being able to get the exact parts from the manufacturer without second guessing has been invaluable.
Give me Shannon back!
Sounds really good. Like REALLY good. Like im 9/10 going to buy one of these. Only one thing im worried about and its pricing. Now im just hoping they get the pricing right. I see it is still made in China so im thinking anything more than $1300 would really be a bit much. Anyone else agree? Overall though fantastic amp head.
“Still” made in China? Of course. Everything Peavey is made in China now. And that’s why I won’t buy Peavey products anymore. Which is a shame because I’ve been a huge Peavey fan since they came out with my favorite hard rock amp, the VTM 120. Now they’re just cheap junk. I’m sure many may not agree with me but that’s my opinion.
@@TheAxe4Ever I'm real curious about where you buy all your electronics then cause its almost all made in china, and if not made there then assembled here in the US with Chinese made components. Same goes for most of these made (assembled) in USA and UK amps.
@@anandgarde13 that other dude is too busy sniffing his own farts to think critically.
Peavey use components that keep their products at an affordable price point. Those components are not high quality. The repair shop I worked at have seen many of the chinese made peavey amps, including 6505's.... that should be a red flag alone. With that said, I appreciate the sound of these amps but will always save my dollars for higher quality amps.
Asesome demo! Definitely sounds tighter than any of the 6505's I've heard! Made in China though...you would think the prices would come down, or stay the same?
dang that sounds great!
I’ve had my 6505+ since 2005!!!
I always thought you were saying,”east- ender riffs”. Like that was a new sub genre I hadn’t heard of. E standard makes a lot more sense.
Same lol. When he says that I imagine surly British guys in East London playing belligerent riffs, beating people, and saying “Oi!” a lot.
Most excellent!
Nice review, peavey ll sounds great , but I will throw down on a ceriatone chupacabra 100 , yes , I can wait a year for that chupa .... 😊
Sounds excellent 6 preamp 4 6l6 what brand tubes? Also iconic did u try it honestly..good job tw
i might buy that amp
Hello Brethren, do you guys prefer the Mesa Traditional 4x12 or the Mesa Oversized 4x12?
Well isnt that just the goodest boy! 🐶
Sorry if I missed in video... Any idea when this will hit the market?
That’s awesome.. I like the fact it’s not a signature amp now. I personally don’t like signature things because your not being you. Thank you PEAVEY
Hi Kyle, i have a question, how do you keep the volume down with the post gain set at 3?
I have a 6505+ and i can barely get the pregain at 1
Amazing demo by the way!
This thing kills!
Definitely the most pleasing 5150 tones I've heard in a UA-cam demo, to date. I couldn't agree more with your assessment of the OT changes. Awesome....thank you!
Except it was a 6505 lol
@@ViperBitenESP the 5150 and 6505 are identical
@@TheStinkysteve EXACTLY!! The only difference is the tubes that shipped with the 5150/6505!!
