I was thinking of the song, "Birches". It was a song I had heard on a great mix tape from way back when people made mix tapes. It's sad when you learn someone that you admire has passed. It's particularly sad to find out it was so long ago. You left your mark, Bill. Rest in Peace.
Today is Bill's 69th Birthday, November 25, 1951. Thanks for posting the concert. I first learned of Bill Morrissey, at a Tom Rush concert at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. on January 4, 1984. (I am good at remembering dates!) Tom was doing one of Club 47 type shows of introducing new acts, as on the bill was 4 acts. Morrissey, David Buskin and Robin Batteau, Nanci Griffith, as they all made a impact on my wife and me. The other person, I do not remember his name, as he just did not. We never saw Bill again in concert, but we have seen Nanci and B&B so many times, as we have all of their CDs. I only have 3 of Bill's CDs as I need to get the rest. On January 4, 2020, we did see B&B in concert, as I wrote David Buskin about that, being the same day and it was the last concert we have been to due to Covid. My wife's brother died of Alcoholism, so I know the effects on a family on this disease. Garnet Rogers wrote a great song about Bill. Best Mike

Wow! Sitting back on a gloomy Sunday afternoon enjoying this show. Morissey is touring my favorite album, “You’ll Never get Heaven.” Had the chance to see him several times solo. This is a real treat to see him with band. Thanks for posting!
My wife and I were there! I believe this was one of the shows where my wife helped Vonnie Hicks record this video. We enjoyed many performances of Bill Morrissey with the Fiddle and Bow society over the years. Thanks for getting this video out there! I hope some more of these CAT TV shows will be uploaded in the future!
Christine Lavin who produced the On a Winter's Night compilation on cassette of new singer /songwriters "sometime in the late 20th century" (as Gorka once quipped) introduced me to Bill. His song "She's That Kind of Mystery" (found here at 32:10) is one of the many favorites on that compilation. Searching on YT, there aren't that many performances/covers. I'm happy to have found this one and TY for posting. 3/22/2022
Richard Marsh, Thank you for this. I miss Bill, was lucky enough to see him perform live once. Gotta love the pen in the t-shirt pocket. When you're a writer you never know when inspiration will show up!
Thanks so much for such a rare and beautiful Bill music treat. Especially with a band. Please give us some more Fourth Fret songwriter shows in you have them! Ramcey in Nashville
I was most fortunate to come into possession of the original VHS tape of Bill Morrissey's 1996 Fiddle & Bow appearance. I will try to obtain tapes of other artists who appeared at the Fourth Fret.
What a wonderful vid!!! Thanks so much for posting this. We saw Bill maybe as many as ten times in his all too short life but we were never lucky enough to have seen him with a band....and what a band this is!! Michael Toles is incredible. I know that by now there are just too many fans out there who never got to see Bill.....I hope this helps remedy that!
I first met Bill and Ellen on this tour!! I think Lynne Miles opened for him in Exeter NH? Look how handsome he is, and he sounds wonderful! Thanks for posting this whole show ❤️

One of the great storytellers of our time. There are times when his music just fits like a glove. Like so many, he left us too soon!
How I miss Bill Morrissey.
What a gift to have this video.

My pleasure. Bill was truly a gifted performer. So glad I was able to post a video of this concert.
Amazing ! First time I see Bill play with a band! Who are those guys? Michael Toles on guitar.
Sorry... not sure who the other musicians were.
Michael Toles - lead guitar * Danny Mack - drums * David Walters - bass
