Winter Camping In Bubble Wrap Shelter
Вставка

- I tried this out to see what would happen in a closed campground if I just wrapped a gazebo tent frame with bubble wrap for a camping shelter. It was an interesting night, with freezing temperatures, and strong winds. Things didn't go quite to plan, as usual... but I adapted and survived the adventure trying to camp in bubble wrap.
casually while his tent is breaking apart he's all calm talking to the camera: oh boy it's going to be a chilly night." what a legend
Yeah lol
Steve has an amazing ability to find success when any sane person would see failure. He's my Hero!!
While popping bubbles. Lol!
Sometimes you just have to be like the band that played as the Titanic sunk.
I'm like 5 minutes in and keep waiting for the wind to increase and take it.
LOL! This was a good one. I think the bubble wrap would have been more useful if you just rolled yourself up in it. :D
😄😄
thats actually a lifesaver
I really think this could have worked if he had wrapped the tent in multiple layers, if he had enough wrap, and tied the tent down to the park table or some trees. Or, well, possibly.
Definitely!! Cracked me up!!
@@HumanPerson_final
Or, just use a tent designed for the season. 😉😄
But, the bubble wrap allows any passing predator to look in to see what’s for dinner. 😱
Walls fall apart and Steve casually mentions “its a pickle” and next scene shows him drinking a beer and popping bubblewrap! I love this guy!
“Now you’re camping with Steve” as his whole tent is laying in the snow upside down 😂😂😂 please never change.
I laughed so hard there lol
Could you imagine being a new viewer and this is the first video that introduces you to Steve camping lol.
Definitely one of the best
Who else loved Steve just sitting there, drinking beer and popping bubble wrap.
tbh that was my fav part reminded me of the one where we was just chilling on the swings
just moments before he did say he didnt know what to do....
I can hear him thinking in his head "I'm going to die tonight. let's take a sip and start popping the bubble wrap."
Step Two is my new life goal...ha. Ha. He's a total panic. I love this guy...but I worry about him too.
Probably the funniest scene LOL
The shot of you sitting idle, drinking a beer and popping some bubble wrap, was pure magic. I love it... 😆
That was the part that really tickled me too!
Haha this part got me too!
Same!!
This guy is so honest and outrageously funny! Still laughing about his good sense of humor
🤣 ROTFLMFAO 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😅😂😂🤣😅😅
Steve putting hot dogs on top of his fire, sat out in the open, in the freezing cold and says, 'I sure miss the tent.' 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I'm crying laughing
I missed the tent for him
Priceless!!
Well kids step 2 is gonna consist of strong whiskey.. your buddy Steve needs to stay a bit warmer.... 🥶🌨️🥃
mad respect for still posting this absolute madness. You're a trooper i would have been in the car or headed back to the house lol
I admit I nearly fainted from laughter when the tent blew away, not at your misfortune, but your positive attitude towards it. "Now you're camping with Steve!" "I sure miss the tent....." Well done.
Me too. I made a comment about the same thing. & I love how he sits there for half a minute taking a sip, reaches over and pops a few of the bubbles on the bubble wrap. gee i guess i'll at least pop off a few of these bubbles b4 this stuff blows away lol i'd being doing the same thing haha
Me too lol. So positive we can all learn from him.

Hey Steve!
Looks like you have the newest spam comment bots.
These are the ones that seem to have 12 or more lines worth of "........" & somewhere along the way, drop a porn site or "adult dating" site which ends up being a credit card scam.
Only way to get rid of one that I know is to type in said thing on your studio settings for "words to block" & it'll get rid of them up until the next style come by.
You're not the only channel getting these & they've been popping up as far back as 2014 it seems.
( I had some of the "older ones" visit my YT going back that far & finally, seemed to've gotten rid of whatever was the deal by doing what I suggested with YT Studio; ever since then, I haven't seen one since about 2019 or so)
Anyway, I reported the one hanging in your comment section but it won't take it out fully, reporting never seems to on UA-cam's end which stinks.
I know it’s a Canadian stereotype to be polite and positive, but Steve is the real deal. I love these videos. 👍
@@campingwithsteve glad ya posted
Steve when things go bad; "I really don't know what to do. Boy, it's a pickle." Then proceeds to sit down and drink a beer while popping the bubble wrap.- Priceless!!!
That was my favorite part. I wonder what he was thinking while just chillin there popping them. That part was epic
@@Mexcali552 Probably thinking "Man, I should have brought more beer!"
That popping of the bubbles part had me rolling.
"The good news is, with the tent gone, I can use this heater with impunity" - I couldn't hardly stop laughing!!! Cheers, mate! 😂
Having the occasional "fail" with camping is absolutely essential for entertaining content. Thank you sir. You made my night.
I always say... if videos go perfect 100% of the time... there's a possibility they could be a little faked.
Agreed!! The realer the better in my opinion
@@campingwithsteve I've had many a failed plan for a night of camping. Wind, Rain, Snow, the fact that you stick it out till the bitter end and stay positive is something I highly respect and always strive for myself. But personally if you gave it your best but end up goin home for nice warm night in with the wife I'll still be here to watch the video. The positive attitude, curiosity, and being able to show us the video no matter how it goes are what keep me coming back! Also maybe some car/trailer, quinzee, or even something like a garage/storage unit could be some ways to stay warmer!
No way that was staged Don't get no better than this Now You're Camping with Steve 🥴
I dont know if everyone saw this, but I got a pop-up advertising a hot-tent with a wood stove during this, lmao. My favorite scene was Steve saying over and over "I really dont know what Im going to do now", then sips his beer and reaches over to start popping bubbles on the remaining sheet of bubble wrap. This is honestly one of the funniest videos Ive seen of Steves so far. Thumbs up!
That got me too!
😂 Priceless!🤣
I felt a tad guilty laughing so much 😅
The whole things blows away... now you are camping with steve :D :D :D
All I could think was. 30mins of Steve popping bubble wrap. I can watch that
it was hilarious how each scene got more chaotic ending in you and the cot in the open field. incredible video steve, thanks for being you!
I honestly haven't wheeze laughed like this in a looooongg time. His calm reaction to all the absurdity happening just had me dying.
I found this episode so entertaining. I was laughing hysterically when Steve said calmly & so causally “Oh boy there goes the wall behind me”
It was almost as if Steve was surprised the wall was coming down. I love his dry sense of humor & look forward to watching every video he posts on his channel.
Steve just sitting there, wondering what he’s going to do next, sipping a step two, as he nonchalantly reaches over and starts popping the bubble wrap. I absolutely love this! Steve you are priceless! 😂
I could not stop laughing.
When in doubt, pop bubble wrap
That was my favorite part 🤣
My favorite moment in the whole video
When I saw Steve pull out those rolls of bubble wrap I said “no way he makes it through the night w/o popping some!” 😂
I about died when the tent flew away and you said “now you’re camping with Steve.” Still has me laughing.
You're a legend, Steve. Not many people can resist the urge to pop those bubbles, especially after a couple Step 2's it wouldn't stand a chance.

That's the best part of this video.
My favorite Steve moment is from the bear camping series when he had been in the Step 2s and was cooking. Seemed like the camera spooked him a bit! 🤣
Epic!!
Hey, S! Another approach: Why not shortened the legs of the canopy by half, then double wrap bubble wrap all around? No need to heat unnecessary height. Any thoughts? ⛺

Yep, would’ve been better than nothing
Hope Steve tries our suggestions sometime! Can't wait to see his next 'crisis' adventure! Haha! 🤣

This was my favorite moment, too! I mean, what else can you do, but embrace the suck. I did military training in that kind of weather. I dont think i got any sleep...too busy shivering in two man tents, even though we tried to huddle for warmth. Steve didnt even have a battle buddy! 😂

True!
Steve is the reason I WANT to start camping. Even just traditional, normal camping in a campsite. No matter what, he makes it look like an adventure!
@@ozorhaar9575 oh my friend, let me tell ya about camping. I grew up camping with my parents often. We didn't do much cold weather stuff until my sister and I were older. But it was always the BEST time! Always an adventure no matter where we were. Sometimes we'd pack our head in a few miles deep on trails, others we would just hit camp sites. It was always so wholesome. There's always little issues but you end up laughing at the end of the day. Food on a campfire can't be bested. And the quality time with family and friends is better than anything! Camping is 100% worth it. It's therapeutic. I've never done the fancy trailer or RV camping. Always tents, makeshift shelters, things of that nature. I definitely recommend. And now that I have a little boy of my own, I've been taking him out and he has an absolute blast. The dirt, the scrapes, the cuts, the bruises from tearing through the woods, he loves it, so I love it as well! I truly hope you do get out there and experience it. The silence, the animals, the fresh air, the primal nature of the entire situation is the best medicine in this world! Stay safe, and remember the most expensive gear isn't always best. Fleece and wool are great for cold weather. Fleece dries quickly when wet. And wool is the only material on earth that will keep you warm if you somehow manage to get it wet. Plan your trip, and make sure at least someone knows you're going out. Just in case something goes bad.
Steve, I'd just like to just take a minute to say thank you for all the countless hours of entertainment you've brought us all over the years. Merry Christmas to you my friend I appreciate all you do!
No idea why I do this but I tend to watch one of Steve’s camping vids before I go to bed, find them very relaxing and enjoyable to watch
I find myself freezing🤕
Haha same. I got a space heater going right now. Sorta simulates a camp fire next to bed haha. I think it’s because it’s just simple and not over produced. There’s so much over produced junk out there with flashy edits and loud sounds, effects, and music. This is just raw, essentially nearly unedited for the most part and obviously more realistic. That’s probably why it’s so calming. It’s relatable and sort of calms the nerves at the end of the day at least for me. That’s my theory anyway
Lol you never know, he might be in the backyard
Same here . Me and my son watch the channel till we pass out
I’m the same! He’s so good natured and chill, it really helps me to unwind after a tough day

😂😂😂
He’s so calm that he would’ve been looking for a fishing pole if he’d been on the Titanic. Great, entertaining video!
Failure is always an option
Now i'm wondering if it could work with a few changes
1 - Don't set the gasebo roof full height, if you put the legs at the lowest you'll still have a shelter but it won't catch the wind as much and it would be easier to heat up
2 - Put the nylon walls outside and bubble wrap inside for extra insulation while the nylon stops the wind
3 - Don't cut a door and just lift your way in and out, the integrity of the "structure" will be better
Yeah and he could also secure it with ropes and weights if he can't drive spikes in the ground
@@CaesarBest Buckets full of snow - there's plenty of it!
A teepee shape works much better in the wind
I wonder if going top to bottom instead of bottom to top with the bubble wrap would have made a difference. I was also thinking that making a door outline with tape and then cutting in the middle of the tape would have helped keep it together…
I was thinking this as well, also maybe a layer of plastic wrap to secure the bubble wrap on the next test. And maybe a stapler.

I'm agree :)
AGREED ! I'm a relatively new fan, but my appreciation for him has grown exponentially with this seeming "fail." I sometimes try to take solace in that expression : "If you don't F-up now and again, you must not be doing very much." And, of course, Thomas Edison supposedly say something like "I haven't failed . . . I've found 999 ways that don't work ! " There are no mistakes, only lessons, the 'mistake' is in not learning the lesson, or worse, learning the wrong ones.
These are not fails, they are really stupid ideas. Why would anyone use bubble wrap as a shelter? I used to enjoy this channel, now it's just stupid
i don’t understand why he doesn’t just buy a good tent 😂
Well sure. Mistakes are the best things to learn from, and not just for Steve, but for anyone watching these, we can all learn from his mistakes.

*snapping bubble wrap and drinking a beer*
THE TRUE NORTHERN LEGEND!! This is my favorite video yet, love em all but this one is almost a genuinely unique and good slap-stick comedy bit. Trying to make a shelter out of bubble wrap at -20C and having no real back up plan for the wind on a not so windy night. This could be straight up in "The Trailer Park Boys." That is meant as a genuine compliment, I know you try and put yourself in terrible situations because that's how real life works. You are making amazing content that gets better and better somehow!
You should do a UA-cam short with that quote and then the next frame. It is gold and might bring in viewers.
Kudos to you Steve for posting something that turned into a border line disaster. Not going to lie I enjoyed every failure along the way.
He has had lots of border line disasters - that's what we love about him. He slogs on through and actually stays with it through the night.
This was an unintentionally funny episode, Steve. I think I would have tried shortening the legs of the 'tent'. That would have meant you could overlap more bubble wrap and might have made it less of a target for the wind. Better luck next time... and I'll keep watching and hunkering down. Indoors, of course.
That's what I thought too.
Yeah, collapse the legs, double up the wrap, and no door Just lift it up and duck under.
My family uses these canopies at the beach and always shorten the legs on windy days.
I would try not making a tent out of bubble wrap. How was it not apparent from the beginning that this was a terrible idea that could only end one way?
That's what you would have tried? I would have tried ropes and pegs, but, whatever you think will work, I guess.

You and beautiful wife camping out in your own damn living room with a cobbled-together pillow and blanket fort. Just a good time out of the cold, for once. You've more than earned it!
When setting up the canopy you don't have to extend all the legs. Or all the legs all of the way.
Setting it up in a lean-to configuration helps with wind and it can be held down with snow, or by tying it down to stuff like propane tank.
Or tie down to picnic table or benches I saw...
Exactly what I was thinking
I think he thought he was going to mail himself to an ebay customer...
Ahh...im taking notes
It amazes me how people in colder climates are like "it's only -20C". Did I'm from Scotland. I think the coldest we've ever had is like -15. Funny how on the chin you all take it.

I think you put the bubble wrap up too quick. Adding tarp and maybe a tarp floor and planning a better doorway might have helped. I was so excited to see this one. Sorry it did not work.
Been watching you since the boomdocking documentary. Im very happy to know your channel. It encourages me to camp out here in the desert. Maybe consider do an episode if that one if these days? Cheers from Arizona. One love
If you haven't been there, check out Lake Pleasant about 30 miles N of Peoria. Fair priced camping and a huge lake accessible from your camp site.
Mikel Mouss what part of Arizona are you from?
I wish I’ll have the same zen like calmness Steve had when he says, “this is a disaster happening right now” the next time I have a panic attack 😅
hey Steve, next time when there is high wind you should not use the telescopic legs until full length, make it not too high - this way the shelter's ressistance to the wind would be slightly higher..and next time use wrapping foil to secure the bubble stuff, this way is like an added layer. :)
Was just about to say, if the tent was lower it would have worked a little better :) Still a fantastic video from Steve, you certainly put yourself through it to give us something great to watch :)
Same
@@chriscowey7464 beat us to it...I would of used pallet shrink wraps that stuff is sticky and I would've definitely kept it as low as possible.
Except he didn't want to use single-use plastic wrap because of the waste
was also thinking not to Extend the legs .. he mentioned not being able to stake it down .. might have been able to put it up over or next to the picnic table to use it as an anchor or started in the trees to start with to block some of the wind .. (always easy for us to say After the Fact)
I watch Steve do these overnights and think to myself "I could never pull that off".
This video however, gives me hope.....
My Sunday is complete. Literally just cooked and sat down at the table to see that you posted a new one hot out the oven. Thank you. 🙌🏾🙌🏾 Can’t wait to eat, enjoy some eggnog, and watch. Cheers everybody. Happy Holidays
Cheers! Happy holidays my dude!
Happy holidays to you!
Hey- Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you!
This is possibly the greatest episode yet. The failure was spectacularly comedic. Thank you Steve for making me laugh. Appreciate you.
Yeah.....I am a big fan of Steve; just imagine if this was the first video of his you ever saw!!!LOL!!!1
Steve sitting in the bubble wrap tent trying to cope as the walls fall around him is a great visual for my entire life.
Laughed so hard at the moment where Steve just sat there and played with some bubble wrap. Was waiting for this haha.
"Disasters with Steve" is shaping up to be a great series!
Next week: Steve scrambles out of a vacant carwash by full washers coming on! Gets chased out of a 24 hour laundry by an irate small business owner! Has to duel a park Ranger and gets chased by a Mountie ala 1980's Benny Hill style! And finally.... Gets eaten by a Sasquatch!
Total legend
Down in the dumps around holidays and Steve makes me laugh. Just keeps talking as his house is falling down lol
This is the greatest failed camping ever. Great video. Merry Christmas Steve!
Perfectly imperfect. I love how you leave everything in. Shows real life. Better than any TV show.
One of the more educational ones! LOL "I sure miss the tent"... priceless! Thank you Steve for being the most sympathetic and resilient camping-on-a-budget host there is! Just epic!
The things Steve puts himself through for our entertainment! I salute you! And he did it all with a smile and his usual humility. Thank you and Merry Christmas all!
Honestly... this was a 24 min window into EVERYONES life at one point or another. Thank you Steve, for showing us how to push through! ❤️
That had to be the most ghetto attempt at camping I've every seen. I LOVED IT! The fact nothing went as planned made me feel like I am a normal person after all. Great video Steve!
Even when things go wrong for Steve, he still has a great attitude!! You have more patience than I do, that's for sure!! Thanks for being awesome Steve!!!
Sleeping in a barn with the cows is so much fun, feeling the warmth of their breath, the smell of the hay, some moos here and there. Our friendly goat and the dog near us. Watching a movie on the back and white TV with the lights off. Very calming.
That would be too comfortable to Steve, he likes to though it out.
@Lala who are you? And how can I get in touch with you?
I lost it at him chuckling “Now you’re camping with Steve” 😂 You’re the best man!
Open-air camping without a heater in -4F temps… my hat’s off to ya, Steve. Wonder if not fully extending the legs of that canopy (sleep under a “low-rise” canopy) would’ve been more wind resistant?
Thank you Turd, very cool!
mound the snow around it,maybe a bit op top to stay put
I cannot stand that stupid term "My Hats Off To You" 🙄
@@trxtech3010 So I guess “stop being such a butthead” isn’t on your Top Ten Phrases list?
@@slapdat.byteme That term is way over used "My HaTs OfF tO yOu" Sounds like something some dumb old hillbilly would say.
When I saw him cut the door (wall) open I said “oh no this is going to go poorly”. I love when the disasters get posted too Steve, great job!
Same. I thought maybe he’d cut a little opening at the bottom. Then he just slashed right through the entire side.
I found this station only a week or so ago. I've been binge watching for hours at a time!!! I haven't laughed like I did during this episode in a long time! Steve walis you are a bitchin human being!!!!! Please never stop making these!!!
Dude. I don't want to laugh at your suffering but I am literally in tears from this video. This is an all time classic and immediately one of my favorite things you've ever done. Some of these shots like you saying you need to figure out what to do, then drinking beer and popping bubble wrap, or you sitting on a cot with zero shelter grilling on a heater, absolutely belong on a TV show. Top rate work man.
I said the same thing to my wife one of my all time favorites
Precisely why he has almost 800k subs, as of 12/20/21. love this channel
Remember the Red Green show! Yeah, Steve is the new Red Green! 🤣
Thanks so much Doctor!
The sad resignation in the beer and bubble wrap event was fantastic comedy. Haha
Been watching you for a couple of years now. 99% of us would have packed it up and at least slept in the car. I admire your positive attitude and determination to make a video. Can't wait for New Years Eve with Steve!
I have never seen a better metaphor for anything than this video is for the end of 2021.
We are all dragging the tent out of the tree.
12:53 Steve says, "Boy, it's a pickle."
Steve thinks, "Damn, I'm screwed!"
Honestly, I can't tell you how much I appreciate the adventures you take us on. You're a real trooper to endure that kind of cold.
