I have been diagnosed with terminal cancer.. so I probably won't be able to finish mistborn era 3, and almost certainly will be gone before stormlight ends. This is unfortunate, but I'm looking forward to the Rock story quite a bit, and I'm extremely grateful that I was able to last for Kaladin's arc to finish. I struggled with depression for decades, so that was extremely cathartic for me personally.

I'm so glad Brandon is able to write all 3 Ghostblood books before releasing them. It's one of the things that really made era 1 special, and consequently my favourite books of all time.
Even writing all three at once it still didn't help him figure out how the Godmetals work. I'm sure that's a big regret he has that he hadn't figured out the mechanics of everything yet. Now we have some weird convoluted explanation with electrum.

Curious about emotional impact if you read in this order. By myself read TSM before, when it was released, and because of this Sigzil arch in WaT give so much more grief, because you already know where it takes him (catch myself with something similar to a 3rd episode of Star Wars, you already knew what will happen, but looking how it begin is very emotional)
I love the idea of writing all three at once, it's going to make the story cohesive in a way that I cannot express my admiration for enough. But I feel like the leatherbounds have been put on a back burner for over a month now and I'm getting a little sad they haven't arrived.
Im also in the camp of era 2 > era 1, but I do personally think Stormlight Archive is his best work. This could change as the future Mistoborn eras are released and we can compare both overall series.

I was recently introduced to Brandon’s writing by my DM who runs my current DnD campaign. I just started “The Way of Kings” around Christmas! I’m on page 250! I’m absolutely loving his writing style, so I went out and bought the 2nd book and book one of Mistborn! So glad I took my DM’s advice!

I initially found his channel through writing advice since I am an aspiring historical fantasy writer, and I just thought he was so cool I kept diving and found that he’s actually a super renowned author. Definitely considering reading his books so I can figure out what he’s talking about.

But I'm super sad about a 3 year wait for more Sanderson books. A 3 year wait wouldn't be so bad for any other author, but I've been spoiled by the 2-3 books a year recently. Though, if we're being honest with ourselves, he is certain to write other things in the coming years, even if he doesn't know what it is yet. I expect more accidental books. XD
Finished Wind and Truth just the other week, and since there's very little new stuff coming out now, I decided to start in on the rest of Brandon's books that I've been neglecting or ignoring. Just finished reading Steelheart, and damn, it was much, much better than I expected, didn't think young adult and superhero theme was my cup of tea. Well it was, incredible world building and so many creative twists on the old heroes and villians tropes, and well, if you've read it you know what I am talking about, just a damn good read! Mitosis is next, and then on to Firefight! And then I should probably check out that Skyward series, I've heard it's quite good :)
Steelheart was really good, but Skyward is a lot better. Be aware that while almost everybody agrees that Steelheart and Skyward are great, the sequels are much more divisive. Some like them, some don't. In the case of Skyward, stay in there, even if book two and three isn't quite your taste, the finale (book 4) is much better. And the novellas (Skyward flight) are definitely worth reading, I personally prefer them to both book two and three of the Skyward series.

I haven't read anything that wasn't an educational book or playwright (which is the same for me cus I do theatre) for eight whole years, since I was a kid. My bday was recently and I bought the first 2 dune books and The Way Of Kings. I can't wait to read em! The first two was because I was told the concept's similar to the work I've been making as a passion project, BUT TToK just looked fun and interesting for me! And I think it's something I'll enjoy!

The Story Deck cards were fun. The rarity was a total pain. Fun at first, until everyone began to realize that some cards just weren't there. I managed to get the main story cards and a full set of Heralds (I hope the person who gave me Herald #7 for 4 of my extra Heralds was able to get what he was looking for as my family and I were heading home from the convention a bit early the last day). I am a bit sad to have missed some of the nonsense cards... but will not be starting that emotional roller coaster again. I gave everything else away to people for trading. Great cards and wonderful art though. If you're starting the journey or trying to finish, I truly hope these packs are more complete.

The Story Deck cards were fun. The rarity was a total pain. Fun at first, until everyone began to realize that some cards just weren't there.
I managed to get the main story cards and a full set of Heralds (I hope the person who gave me Herald #7 for 4 of my extra Heralds was able to get what he was looking for as my family and I were heading home from the convention a bit early the last day).
I am a bit sad to have missed some of the nonsense cards... but will not be starting that emotional roller coaster again. I gave everything else away to people for trading.
Great cards and wonderful art though. If you're starting the journey or trying to finish, I truly hope these packs are more complete.
