The plot in this game makes no sense.
While i do enjoy the game. I just cant see how this game is gonna keep me playing after i finish the story and do some Endgame stuff since it seems to still be repetitive af.
The builds and their variety. How it feels to have a busted kit and different busted kits that have big numbers. Its looter shooter 101 but its ok if you don’t like that.

Man, damn near all games are repetitive if you're willing to get reductive about things. Either that or they innovate for the sake of innovating and have you saying "WTF, just stick with what's been proven"
So far I see myself willing to embrace the grind enough to get the Platinum trophy and that will prove in and of itself for me to have gotten my money's worth but I definitely don't have any plans to be the kind of long term player that faffs about with the live service shenanigans that they are hoping for.

Now that I think about it I do treat most drops below Legendary as just different colors of crafting material packs.
The fact ragnarok had a better flash fight than this tells a lot about their priorities. They should’ve made this (and other boss fights) a gimmick fight. Like imagine the squad having the serum to temporarily use the speed force. Then after taking it, you’re in a small arena with him where he creates several clones of him and you need to shoot the right one or something. Then after hitting him once he becomes injured and is becoming slower and slower. Meanwhile every team member will get locked because of the serums negative effects. Then in the end you 1v1 him and it would be like they did it in the game

SS:KtJL peaked at 13k players and a week after release never went above 7k players again, BL3 has 7k players right now.
Imma be honest. As a hardcore destiny 2 player. Doing monotonous things for main questlines is a deal breaker for games for me. After having to do that for shadowkeep and beyond light, it took all that patience away. Some games repetition is ok, but most games i can't do too much, and I'll need a break after a bit.
The problem with this game is that they lock everything behind the seasons which makes the content dry

Lol ppl are only sponsored for like 2 hours. If they keep playing after that, it’s their choice. Shroud played over 15 hours so far after his sponsored stream ended
The superman battle was my favorite. Loved that he threw missiles and tanks at you
2:11 I do agree with you on the topic of repetition. This game i hope adds some mission variety in the endgame. I feel like despite outriders stopping development, the expeditions are what killed the game for a lot of people, then trials' lack of loot is what turned people away. Though both stories are vastly different, the endgame does need variety. Power creep needs to be kept in check, and I think a destiny style artifact every season would make this game phenomenal. That being said, I just got the game yesterday and have seen the reviews, and this game does not deserve the hate it's getting.

not complaining at all I play destiny and warframe. I'm saying that something that switches up how you play in an endgame environment would be nice later down the line to help.
I knew this game was gonna need the kther seaons to make it more non repetitive so i dont care i cant beat the story and grind for the bane stuff and wait for s1 this game was meant to be a secondary game

i guess to each their own, i completed the game purely for the plot and it was pretty decent, but i felt like the gameplay was missing a dimension or too, I feel like the overreliance on guns holds this back for me just a bit, it feels too much like a skinned up division for me when im just in regular free roam
With that i feel like they kind of half assed legendary loot, and the skill tree almost feels useless since theres probably only 1 or 2 ways youre going to play that character
I absolutely love this game & its refreshing to get a good looter shooter based on the suicide squad that doesn't waste your time or padded out nonsense like Gotham knights or the avengers...the suffocating hate is truly unreal. In simple terms this is a game that feels like like a slick mix of Sunset overdrive & crackdown with an actual respectable loot system to grind. The traversal & combat feel great & makes the gameplay loop just super fun despite the repetitive mission structure sometimes.. A beautiful metropolis city running at 60 FPS to use as your playground instead of another lifeless city to go through.. no battle pass shoved in your face day 1 and no expiration date making it one of the most consumer friendly things ive seen in a battlepass.. free missions, free characters & content.. its not a game for everyone & i know the story isnt for everyone especially the arkham fans.. but just to disregard everything the game does right is so ignorant. Its sad.

Great. I'm happy people find the good out of the bad, but it's like you said." The story ain't for everyone, especially Arkham fans." They butched a character I and millions, maybe even billions at this point play for 15 years. A character that they so perfectly built a relationship with the player and Batman, just to kill him like some sick animal. That is the sad part. But hey, if you like it, you like it. It does have good gameplay and graphics.
I dont think were in base reality in this game. But i know one thing i want the next batman arkham game to be us being a murderous demon bat, the one he became after arkham knight and before superman brought him back to light as the musem stated
What is to like about games as a service? I tried to like them but those games always prove that modders can do a lot better than anything companies can come up with.
I just dont think people understand the subtle nuances of escort missions. They were designed with the same precision and care as the marketing which accurately targeted their audience for this game.
32:07 There are a ton of very valid reasons why this is bad for the industry in the long run. Especially when you blindly rely on the Internet for all thoughts, triply so considering that a lot of users mass-hating this game on UA-cam alone who accepted paid coverage of similar games such as Payday 3, which was fundamentally broken at release, meaning that their honesty can be sold away to anyone willing to pay them, which is a real issue that ironically these particular users point out ALL the time until THEY get paid to do so themselves, which erodes the trust threshold by default. As it demonstrates that they will say anything, positive or negative for the sake of it.
Furthermore, the negative narrative of "live services are bad, okay" is insanely disingenuous, and horrifically reductive, keeping in mind that a league's worth of people defend multiple Fighting Games, MMOs, RPGs, etc for using the model for years before Suicide Squad (and before anyone says anything, NO, the primary, summarised critical argument is "live services are bad, okay", anyone who is claiming retroactively that they like live services when they're done well in response to this historical fact that Live Service games have existed longer than you think they have and in many cases, several people, especially normal players who don't have the time to play anything to completion, have shown little issues with it is textbook backtracking, it's a bit of a mind game or street trick people do when caught being hypocritical, most sceptics call that "moving the goalposts") existed. It discounts the many nuances and variables relating to Live Service games (though the game running on a CENTRAL SERVER is a negative that they all/mostly share and since that's more of a universal problem with the servers themselves, not the fact that the game is "live service" more than anything else is worth considering, so ipso facto, it's less a problem with Live Service games and more an issue with server ownership than anything else) and the fact that games such as Monster Hunter exist that have been doing the live service method since the first iteration of the series in 2004, 20 YEARS AGO! Or even Phantasy Star Online, which did the Live Service practice in 2000, nearly a quarter of a century ago. Demonstrating the lack of object permanence of mob thinking. In addition to the blazing hypocrisy and false equivalences many larger users on this website use to confirm the biases of others, again, see above, they'll say one thing, and then they'll say another thing that contradicts the first thing.
They'll often claim that the "AAA" industry is the ultimate big bad and that these games are "soulless, corpo junk" without elaborating on how they are soulless other than 1) a cash shop or 2) the game's contents/scope and not the mechanics of the game. And the vast majority of them also never worked in, studied, or investigated the industry as a whole, especially the history of the industry at large and often struggle to come up with anything other than...well the same beats you see all the time, lazy and corporate beats that they criticise other people for. Hmm...
The door swings both ways, and it is ill-advised to go full "this game sucks/rocks" because some loser on the Internet said so. If I (some loser on the Internet) told you that Game A is crap, I do not expect or demand people to blindly follow my word to the T. I only expect to argue about the point for the sake of discussion. I don't request boycotts, I don't ask for false-flagging campaigns, I don't fall for or create smear campaigns because IGN (who are owned by News Corp, a rival company to Warner, and a company that is not known for their journalistic integrity) are spearheading it. And also be VERY weary of large users online with massive pull. Think for yourself for god's sake!
There's also the chilling effect of risking the jobs and livelihoods of tens of thousands of people over easy, quick buck narratives that earn you "cool kid" points online to preserve your dwindling relevancy by going for the easy arguments rather than being considered, nuanced and patient with your observations and feedback. From a personal perspective, joining high school cliques is idiotic by definition, and just because you have easy answers and psychotic targets like QuantumTV who exist, does not equate to delving into the groupthink assumption that EVERYONE ONLINE DEFENDING ANYTHING WILL BE A SHILL! That kind of Autistic and idiotic thinking is very akin to the "Turn and Burn" tactics of the Catholic Church when it came to dividing people and setting social groups against each other for the long grift. It is very dangerous and damaging to anyone involved, least of all the poor fuckers who play the game, let alone the developers who had to change directions and rush a lot of the latter part of the game due to the development hell this game faced, after two years worth of delays and corporate hot potato matches between AT&T and Discovery Communications during all of this.
Good review been having fun so far
I was really excited for this game especially after seeing a lot of the praise from creators I like. But after playing it a little over 15 hours I was happy to discover I can still refund it on steam. The gameplay is incredible and the build with the loot sets are pretty cool but I can't really say anything else good about the game. I beat the story and was so excited for the endgame to just get slapped down by it just being repeat same missions but on higher difficulty. Honestly chaos chamber was more fun to me because i liked the structure of those more than these missions. And while the loot effects are cool I've used the sniper that comes with the deluxe edition for the entirety of my playthrough. I tried other guns but nothing fit quite as well as that so in 15 hours i never really felt an upgrade outside of skill tree and some added perks from mods and such. All the loot feels like its the same rarity like the infamous gear or whatever just seems to come at the end of every other mission or at least legendary and sets do. I wanted to love this game so much because its looter but I feel like it really misses that mark. Obviously this is my own opinion and hope people have fun with the game but for me it was a hard pass and for anyone else who may have gotten it on steam through pre order you can get a refund if you are like me and don't like it.
Yea enjoy what you enjoy, but it looks absolutely uninteresting to me. After years of playing and suffering through a live service game (Destiny 2) I really don’t want to play yet another mid live service looter shooter

remeber everyone this game is a 65 dollar launch plus "deluxe" editions if only there where games with better gameplay but also good story and even good monetization models, that were less than that or really worth the money i guess helldivers, palworld, baldurs gate, elden ring , warframe and a lot of indie games or the the original batman games are just out of the question. live service games are awesome when theyre done right and this is 1000% not it. spend your money on something that is really worth it, and never preorder any games pre order bonuses are not worth it these days, just a bunch of useless skins

I really enjoy the looting in the game. Constant combat and all. It’s very fun
This game wasnt what i wanted but one I was willing to try but after seeing other reviews and what theyve done with Arkham batman and Arkham robin really just made me angry. I dont mind the live service elements and i dont mind the gameplay. I was willing to try it out and i can imagine myself playing for hours but I cant bring myself to play because I grew up with arkham Batman and seeing all the things they do with Batman just hurts man. i wont throw unecessary hate at Rocksteady because this is a good game but its one of the worst sequels ive ever seen.
This is a looter shooter. As a borderlands fan this game looks good and while the story is neither good or bad the looter shooter aspect is great. If you don't like it, don't play it. Most people haven't even touched the game, they just repeat youtuber opinions over and over again.

@Slomoshun09 you see the issue though, the game has an 87% very positive on steam, but the game in UA-cam comment sections and videos are dreadful, something isn’t lineing between people that actually bought and played and people that haven’t

Thats why I never trust reviews fully because a lot of times I enjoy games which a lot of peole dont. This game was really fun honestly
But all "disappointments" about what could have been aside I am quite enjoying this game and I see myself embracing the grind through whatever repetition there is just enough to get the platinum trophy which will give me my money's worth.
Im hoping this studio gets another crack at things but WB tries having the confidence to let this studio cook and not meddle with the trend chasing. Let them make a solid, focused, narrative campaign with a definitive end point. Let them make something that will show well and generate good will during the preview cycle!

Gameplay is amazing. Story is very good. But the gameplay is also VERY repetitive.
To be fair damn near every game is repetitive if we want to get reductive about things. It's a matter of creating a fun gameplay loop to make doing the repetitive tasks enjoyable for a long period of time and this does accomplish that to some extent (I personally find the boss fights and some of the objectives a bit annoying)

I have had 2 bugs in my 30 hours. Enemies forever what reason doing... nothing. Just standing there taking it. Another bug is music just stuttering or turning off lol, but it havent been too bad

That is the objectively correct score. Dissapointing consider the pedigree of the studio and franchise sure, but not outright trash like the idiot masses ass sheeple are claiming.
Good review, but isn't Batman getting disrespectfully disposed on brand for a team made of DC supervillains? I found the treatment of the team towards the league refreshing, a game about villains killing superheroes without the straight faced hero worship and cannonization. They also brought out the less discussed aspects about the heroes like green lantern basically being a cop bastard with a magic ring, Batman's aura being built around him wishing to intimidate his adversaries and then resort to using scarecrow's fear gas. Arkhamverse made Batman too overpowered, actually felt nice to see Tfx take him out in a way befitting non superpowered hero. Totally agree about the endgame and the bitchy coverage by ign. I would like the game to go on cuz the story is fun and the chemistry among the squad is entertaining. Hopefully the devs can find a way to improve the mission structure so all this great writing doesn't get cut short in case the game actually dies

Yeah I absolutely love this game. It's refreshing to get something a bit more bold and different. A slick mix of sunset overdrive & crackdown mixed with a good loot system.. 60 fps metropolis playground with amazing weather conditions.. traversal & combat are so satisfying and the generous loot drops just make for a compelling gameplay loop even with repetitive mission design. No battle pass shoved in your face day 1 with free content/characters to be added & no expiration date either so no FOMO!... You can hate the story all you want but don't disregard everything the game does right which no hater talks about of course because 90% of them haven't even played the game. It's sad.
Finally someone that's willing to speak the truth and not cater to the online mob. Seems like every video review talks about so many great things in it and still gives it a poor grade. Same with popular streamers like Shroud. I heard him say "Oh man, I love this! Oh wow!" and even when he was in a group with others that were figuring out the game like Summit, he said "I can hear you guys starting to love the game" while he's got a big grin on his face. Like it was clear that he was enjoying it, but then a fan dono'd to say he's going to get it and he played it off like he didn't like the game and that it was too easy. Like I don't get it.
People can say something is good even if 99% of people hate it. I loved the original Animal Crossing and I didn't know anyone at the time that loved it and heard a lot of people talk trash about it for years until New Horizons came out. Too much bandwagoning going on, too much clout chasing. Not interested in that. Big credit to you for being completely legitimate in your review.

Thank god there’s a vid that isn’t following the hate train. I’m so tired of hearing all the hate constantly, it’s pathetic for grown adults to be crying that much. The game certainly isn’t perfect and maybe didn’t do some things right but it’s still a great game and very fun. The people complaining are literally nitpicking every little thing about it because they love crying. I hope the game continues to provide more going forward.

Im leaning towards there being a breakdown in communication somewhere as to why this was claimed to be set in the Arkham universe.
If anything Gotham Knights is more a sequel to Arkham Knight so that's probably actually supposed to be part of the Arkham universe and this is supposed to be its own thing. I'm willing to give them time to do the right thing and say they made an oopsie as to what game is supposed to be part of what universe.
It sucks to have to do the mental gymnastics to make this game's story more enjoyable but it is what it is. HOpefully next time they get it right from the get go; specifically in the form of saying they are starting their own, Justice League universe and are willing to leave this game's story as it's own, nonsensical Elseworld canon. (and I'm actually enjoying this game's story; just so long as I stick my fingers in my ears and go "lalalalalalala" to the fact that it's an Arkham Knight sequel)

Mate, I'm about 20 minutes into the review which would make it the majority of the review and, frankly, it seems like you actually think this game is terrible but you're trying your best to cope. I mean, let's say the loot economy, which is probably the most important part of a looter shooter game, is essentially pointless. Thus the game, is essentially pointless, since it's core aspect is not worth playing.
Anyway, I'm glad you had a good time but if anything, I'm likely going to wait for the game to cost 5 bucks or to be given away on epic or something before I try it.
