I worked at Toys R Us years ago and two crazes that actually broke out into fistfights were cabbage patch dolls and tickle me Elmo. People went batshit crazy over those two.
Phil Hartman as Ted is really underrated in this. He absolutely kills it as that insufferable creepy neighbor. You can't watch this movie and not want to punch him in the face a couple of times at least.
Arnold switching to comedy after The Terminator and Predator is one of the most brilliant career moves in film history. The contrast enhances the humor infinitely. "It's not a tuminator!"
In fact the educator in Kindergarten Cop and Howard the Dad are the real Arnold, in real life he is a nice and funny guy and PLAYS Action, gunners and Warriors only at the silver screen
Love your laughter. When I was in college I remember the tickle me Elmo. The funny part of the story I bought some for friends and children I took care of in the summer of the year they came out the first time I saw them not knowing what would become of them shopping for Christmas. When everyone got them at Christmas everyone was all amazed as to how I got them all and I just them I had them since the summer. Everyone was so very happy which made me happy. That was THE toy of that year. The reaction of the children is what made it all worth it.
Its interesting to see the difference between countrys, in my opinion these Elmo wasnt a thing in germany. Sometimes these american hype toys are not interested in germany
in 1996 Tickle Me Elmo was the toy to have. prices on ebay where into the thousands. this movie came out around the same time. almost like they knew what was about to happen.
Happy holidays to you and your family! Arnold Schwarzenegger also starred in the movie "Maggie" with Abigail Breslin (Emma Stone's younger sister in "Zombieland"). It's a surprisingly good post-apocalyptic zombie film where Arnie flexes his acting chops. Here's to more great content in 2024!
In the 50's when there was only 3 national/network T.V. channels, after school until about 5 p.m. & Sat. mornings were dedicated children's cartoon programs. Advertisers would have special toys, etc. that you had to mail in so many box tops from their products & maybe a dollar or less. I remember one program where you received a sheet of plastic that stuck to your T.V. set. You could take a marking pencil & draw on your T.V.'s screen whatever they told you to draw. My mother walked in as I was drawing on our T.V. & she almost had a heart attack. I also remember a toy submarine that you filled with baking soda or powder (?) & it would sink & then rise to the surface while you were playing in the bath tub. That's when we weren't outside shooting our Daisy Red Ryder BB guns!
My grandma sent my mom and aunt through the crowds and each one hugged a giant lawn decoration candle. My mom said ladies were trying to pry them loose to get the candles.
When Cassie finds out that Jammie and Ani Skywalker are the same person; She will go crazy with joy and excitement, seeing Little Ani being a very, very happy child.
In 1993, there was a toy craze that started when a tv show released on August 28th became the biggest show on the planet. The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers was about 5 teenagers with attitude, who were assembled by an interdimentional being stuck in a time warp, who was named Zordon. He gathered the teens to fight an evil space witch named, Rita and her minions. The toy line was the most sought after toy line and I had all of it That Christmas, thanks to the tenacity of my parents who developed a very special set of skills to retrieve the whole Power Rangers line that I asked for, that Christmas. Now, as an adult, I have the pleasure of getting to see my parents open gifts and be surprised & delighted with I have gotten them for Christmas. My parents taught me to enjoy giving rather than getting the gifts.
Why is everybody not watching the last scene after the end of the credits, if you fast forward to the end, there's one more scene with Arnold and Rita. You first time watchers should really check that out! And Merry Christmas to you all. RIP Phil Hartman. I think this came out in the year... 1996.
I remember my mom and grandma fighting the insanity looking for Cabbage Patch Kids for my sisters. I also remember the same battle for the original Nintendo gaming system. I didn't get one that first year, but my best friend did. I got one the following year when the demand wasn't so strong, but it was still one of the hotest gifts going. I remember the Sega System also being in high demand. Then years later it was the Elmo and Furby craze. By the mid to late 90s the craze for toys was ending, but starting for HDTVs (DLP style, not LCD. Better picture for that era, but still big box tv styles) and then in the early to mid 2ks, flat LCD "widescreen" TVs were in demand (40inch was HUGE then). The last craze I remember was the Wii. Then the online shopping world was starting to be a thing and malls and big toy store box stores were closing up. ... I remember stores like "K B Toys", "The Toy Box" and "Toys R Us". Walmart size buildings full of toys, isles and isles of toys to dream about. I remember going shopping at malls and such with my Mom and Grandma and looking forward to going into the toy stores. We'd stop at one of the food places in the mall for lunch and my sister and I would spend the entire time roaming the toy stores by ourselves. Strange looking back how often we were away from our parents (hours) back then compared to the over protection parents give kids today. I often would go to the mall with mom and spend the entire time she was shopping hanging out in the game room. Rarely had quarters to play myself, but loved watching the older kids play the games. Some were very good. I guess that's why as an adult, I enjoy Twitch so much. Anyway, life was so free, easy and innocent back then. Sad how sheltered and home-locked kids have become. Necessary or un-necessary I guess depends on where you are. Here in the Midwest, never had to worry much about crazy people back then. But now, all the coastal crazies are piling into the mid west. Especially since COVID and the big exodus from large Cities.
I remember the Tickle Me Elmo was around the same time as this movie and i remember it was impossible to find it was even in the news !!!! For me it was the first Megazord it was hard to find and i never got it for christmas i got a smaller version insted i finally got one in 2020 !!!
Accomplished comedian Sinbad (what? He's accomplished. This isn't against anybody) has filed for bankruptcy for the _second_ time. Looks like things have gone from sinbad to sinworse---
At the time I was younger the most popular doll was Holly Hobby. I really wanted one and ended up with one at Christmas morning. The best gift I ever got.
This movie is a special one for my family. We used to drive from Atlanta, Ga. to the Connecticut for Thanksgiving at the end of November and we'd stop halfway in Virginia and we'd get a little suite. My wife and my two young sons and it happened that for several years this movie would come on tv while we were in the hotel. It was a fun, seasonal family movie to watch as a family. My sons are grown now and we try to put the DVD on when the visit for Christmas even if we don't always pay attention any more. It is silly but it is a fun movie. I liked your reaction.
When I young I had so many toys but I want a Barbie, and there's 1 Barbie I really like, they said no cause it was expensive. Then on my birthday they surprised me with that exact Barbie😊 I also like the Hello Kitty plushie but I was a teenager then so they don't bother anymore😂 We love this movie.
NICE! Never seen this. Robey Conrad was the cop. He was the original Adam West from the TV series and Pappy Boyington from the TV series Baa Baa Black sheep. Always a learning experience on this channel!! HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL 💖🥳🎉 PEACE ☮️🕊️
Cassie, toy collecting/hunting was hard enough before the internet existed, add on christmas, it makes it really hard to find a toy you want, but in the 1980s , they seemed to have enough toys for everyone, toy companies started to make less and less toys over the years, because they want to save money?
There’s a post credits scene where Arnold’s character and his wife are setting the tree, then the wife asks “what did you get me?” Then Arnold turns his head to the camera once again.
"Put that cookie down. NOW!" Love this movie. RIP Phil Hartman, he was so funny and Sinbad is hilarious, too. Also, Ted's line after Howard got caught stealing the toy from under the tree, "you can't bench press your way out of this one" is comedic gold to me.
Yeah, I always though Phil was the one saving grace of this movie. Seriously, I wish the writers of this movie didn't make him into a villain, since he's a way better father than Howard.
@@MrFishing4uyeah that was terrible. I remember when Small Soldiers came out they all made it about Phil Hartman and my parents were talking about the tragedy.
Oh, this is one of my favorite Christmas movies. I love Sinbad in this. His character is hilarious. “This is a sick world we’re living in! With sick people!” 🤣
Phil Hartman gone to soon, he was a legend and a Canadian 🇨🇦, he did voices in the Simpson and also started in NewsRadio *highly recommended to watch the show.
The big Santa Claus that fights Arnold Schwarzenegger is played by a man named Paul Wight who is a former professional wrestler that went by many names over his career, but mainly, “The Big Show”, and he’s 7’-1” tall and weighs around 500 lbs. That’s why he made Arnold Schwarzenegger look so small.
I worked at K-mart during the Cabbage Patch dolls craze. It was nuts how people would actually fight each other in the isles over a doll. I don't know how many times we had to call the cops on customers.
I remember that my local K-Mart in 83 was the same. My Mom wanted to get my big sister one but everyone got them so she got her a Cutie doll she loved it.
Cabbage Patch and to a lesser degree Teddy Ruxbin. Worked at a Best Products back then and was just shocked at the parents wrestling each other for toys. A few fist fights even broke out. Ridiculous.
This movie's essentially a live-action cartoon. Over the top performances everywhere. It probably exists in the same universe as christmas with the kranks. Arnold VS holiday shopping. A classic
It's fun you made the comparison of Christmas with the Kranks, because I don't enjoy that movie nor Jingle All the Way, and now that I think of it, don't like Decks the Halls. It's hard to nail down why -- love Tim Allen movies, Jamie Lee Curtis movies, and most of Arnold's; also love Christmas Vacation and Scrooged. Maybe it's just the "dad is an idiot" movies that bother us, where it's more acceptable if the entire family is a bit of a write off. Regardless PiB reactions are terrific.
*Ironic Trivia Fact:* Chris Columbus (of _Home Alone_ fame) *_was_* involved in both _Jingle All the Way_ (as producer and an uncredited co-writer) and _Christmas with the Kranks_ (as the main writer), through his 1492 Pictures production company.
I love that nobody could tell Arnold was Turboman even though he has one of the most recognizable voices ever haha. I also forgot about him drinking beer with the reindeer haha
Which still annoys me that this was the supposably the best child actor they could find for a role like this and to play Anakin. Seriously, it really baffling. And before someone starts saying, "Come on, he was only a kid.", let me just say that's not my issue. My issue is the fact that the actor they decided on feels very mis-casted here. I'm all for seeing a comedy movie or show about either obnoxious little boys or perfectly cute sweethearts. But there's and wrong way to do that. As a director or writer, you can't rely on just the child actor to be doing one or the other just on their youthfulness. Jake Lloyd performance here feels very unfocused and phoned in, that even when he's trying to be cute it feels like he's acting like a brat or when he's acting like a brat, it doesn't feel like it. I think a good comparison to see what I mean is looking at the kid Max from Liar Liar, which is a story about a father who works too much and lies to his son on why he failed to be there for him. The actor feels like how a kid should act without needing to rely on being too cute or acting like a spoiled.
in 96 the Tickle me Elmo was one of the biggest Christmas toys fads I've ever seen. about $30 dollars to buy from the stores but was going for over a thousand from scalpers.
I actually practiced the alphabet backwards just in case that scenario came up. I ended up memorizing the alphabet so well that I know what numeric position every letter is in and I can do the alphabet in either direction from any starting position in the alphabet. I have never needed it in the long run, but it was a fun exercise.
@@warspaniel Wild, Wild, West was on a decade earlier than Baa Baa Black Sheep (the original name when it was shown in the mid-1970's). Wild, Wild, West was in my opinion MUCH more popular during its run. Your mileage may vary. Maybe it came down to having fewer choices of what you could watch.
Back in the 80's Cabbage Patch Kids went through the same thing. People went crazy for them and the prices sored. Police were even called into some stores to control shoppers fighting over limited supplies of the '80s phenomenon. Although retailing for $25, there were black market sales of Cabbage Patch Kids recorded as high as $2,000.
Oh my gosh! I literally came here from the Vertigo reaction, having no idea this reaction was coming. Absolutely hilarious! The universe works in mysterious ways.
Stressful, chaotic but fun movie. However I can't help but be reminded of the very disturbing /tragic death of Phil Hartman. He played the annoying Ted. I won't go into the details as this video is meant for fun.
I think what I really love about jingle all the way now that I watched as an adult, is the subtext that Jamie really likes turbo man, because Turbo Man fills the void that his dad has create. His dad is constantly working and not being with him during events. And when Arnold decides to start keeping the promises, it's his way of saying he was going to step in to the role of dad and be physically present in his son's life, which is why it makes sense at the end that Jamie gives away the little action figure to Sinbad. Yes it is silly and ridiculous, but it does have a heart, and that's why I watch it every year.
This movie always reminds me of the Tickle Me Elmo and Furby crazes even though JATW predates them by about two or three years. My "OMG I MUST HAVE IT" was the Game Boy Color, which I didn't get the Christmas it came out but did get it for my birthday the following year. I actually remember not liking this movie when I first saw it because I was in my dumb "I ONLY WATCH GOOD MOVIES HMPH" phase before I learned to have fun with not so great movies lol. But it does have some genuine laughs in it (massive Santa punching out the little Santa cracks me up) and Jingle All the Way has been part of my Christmas movie rotation ever since. RIP to Phil Hartman, one of the greatest comedians of all time.
That moan that comes from the reindeer when Arnold uppercut him in the face I can't tell you how many times I rewound that part over and over as a kid 😂
An underrated Christmas movie. Another one I like that is underrated is Deck the Halls. Danny Devito and Matthew Broderick. It should be on the list next year.
Cassie, thank you very much for your videos and your reactions. regards to Carly I wish you a very happy new year and congratulations on all your achievements. 🌌🎆🎇🌟
Why didn't the wife buy the Turbo man doll? Arnold is working his ass off everyday to provide for this family and this stay at home mom has the gall to make him buy it? She literally has nothing going on in her life other than to go to the store!!!!!!
I just want to say again me and my family love watching your reactions and you've been over of the reasons I keep sane after loosing my brother to COVID, by the way the giant Santa Arnold face was a professional wrestler by the name of Paul Wright AKA The Big Show

There are some interesting facts about... The Lady in the drive away car with the last Turboman is our beloved Princess Leia, Carrie Fisher...The Turboman Action Figure really came out as a special Collectors edition so it really exist. The Wintertainment Parade really exists, too, but the movie was made in April, i think... A nice line is "All your muscles cant help you now", and...after 45 yrs in Martial Arts i never understand the mysterious ranking of the Karate belts of Jaimie... Arnold had much success with his comedys, Stallone failed in comedy. Maybe its because Arnold is a funny guy in real life. And of course this movie reminds every parent whats going on right before Christmas, shopping, sold out presents, stress, hurry up etc. Same with Christmas vacation (Griswold). TOO much truth in these stories... The Johnny 7 Gun real existed long time ago. The only not that good part in this movie is the too overloaded ending with the unrealistic and too childish flight scenes. Another Movie when Arnold dont shows his Trademark, the muscles. Same as Kindergarten Cop. Finally, its easy to fight Barbarians, robots of liquid metal, Alien hunters or troops of thugs, but to fight against hordes of christmas shoppers who want to buy the hottest toy of the century too, THATS another challenge...(of course you cant slash, bomb or shoot them)
Every time I go to the bathroom, I think of Arnold Schwarzenegger kicking a door. In fact, that's what I did when I asked permission to go to a restaurant's bathroom when I had a stomache😂. Thank you for making this movie reaction.
How do you keep your kids away from commercials? I’ve mastered avoiding brick and mortar stores, but I could use some tips for staying away from commercials. ❤

Yes, funny that Turboman had an austrian accent like Howard...
And the Conan callback when he punched him. lol
The kid actor who played Jamie Langston in this movie is Jake Lloyd, who also played Anakin Skywalker in The Phantom Menace.
Happy New Year, Cassie.
Jake's reality is heartbreaking. Diagnosed with Paranoid Schizophrenia.
The cop was Pappy Boyington in Black Sheep Squadron.
@osmanyousif7849 Even the best actor can't do much with a bad script.
And The Phantom Menace had a terrible script.
Robert Conrad, and if you want to go back even further Wild Wild West. TV show was very good. Movie with Will Smith was a real stinker.@@SoloRenegade
in 96 the Tickle me Elmo was one of the biggest Christmas toys fads I've ever seen. about $30 dollars to buy from the stores but was going for over a thousand from scalpers.
And that talking robot nice-version-of-gremlin thing.
I actually practiced the alphabet backwards just in case that scenario came up. I ended up memorizing the alphabet so well that I know what numeric position every letter is in and I can do the alphabet in either direction from any starting position in the alphabet. I have never needed it in the long run, but it was a fun exercise.
…honestly, how long did it take to become proficient?
well don't brag about it
Dude same!
The cop was played by Robert Conrad, best known for his series The Wild, Wild West where he played a secret agent in the post-Civil War US.
I remember that one. James West and Artemus Gordon. An enjoyable show.
Was Wild, Wild West more popular than Black Sheep Squadron? I'm not sure.
I unironically LOVE this movie. One of my absolute favorite Christmas movies.
I love how Arnie spelled out "doll" like his kid was a still a toddler and probably wouldn't know what he was saying lol
I think these hypes (Furby, Tamagochi etc) are the background of this idea.
Phil Hartman's life ended in a very tragic way. It's really disappointing.
Hopefully you watch the Post Credit scene
I feel like this is a “love it or hate it” movie, and I LOVE IT
HAPPY NEW YEAR from Germany 🍾🥂🎆🥳
I've seen a lot of Arnold Schwarzenegger movies lately. Would you try a Christian Slater movie called Heather's?
That moan that comes from the reindeer when Arnold uppercut him in the face
I can't tell you how many times I rewound that part over and over as a kid 😂
An underrated Christmas movie. Another one I like that is underrated is Deck the Halls. Danny Devito and Matthew Broderick. It should be on the list next year.
Cassie, thank you very much for your videos and your reactions.
regards to Carly
I wish you a very happy new year and congratulations on all your achievements.
🌌🎆🎇🌟
Why didn't the wife buy the Turbo man doll? Arnold is working his ass off everyday to provide for this family and this stay at home mom has the gall to make him buy it? She literally has nothing going on in her life other than to go to the store!!!!!!
Booster was the Jar Jar of his world.
I just want to say again me and my family love watching your reactions and you've been over of the reasons I keep sane after loosing my brother to COVID, by the way the giant Santa Arnold face was a professional wrestler by the name of Paul Wright AKA The Big Show
Sorry for your loss
I lost my brother too over 20 years ago. I am so sorry for your loss.
CASSIE......when are you going to watch 1983s - A CHRISTMAS STORY????
It's a classic
Hi Beautiful Girl ,,, Next reaction Christmas Vacation (1989)
You know, I think she's already seen that one, before she started her channel, Here's a list of nearly everything Cassie has seen, even before she started her "First Time Watching" channel. Check out her Letterboxd page: letterboxd.com/pib1/films/by/name/
Thanks for all the reactions, Cassie.
Happy New Year!!
Turbo Man was based on Buzz Lightyear due to the producer having a hard time finding a Buzz Lightyear toy for his child.
YOU MISSED THE AFTER CREDIT SCENE!!! 😃🤩🤓🙃🤣
What is more surprising is that no one here seems to know that there is one... 😯😧😲
Happy Holidays from The Philippines... 💖❤🩹💕
Jamie is gonna force choke someone if he doesn’t get a Turbo Man.
Finally, its easy to fight Barbarians, robots of liquid metal, Alien hunters or troops of thugs, but to fight against hordes of christmas shoppers who want to buy the hottest toy of the century too, THATS another challenge...(of course you cant slash, bomb or shoot them)
If you haven't seen TWINS you should. Arnold and Danny Devito are twins in a heartwarming movie.
I remember Tickle Me Elmo, Furby and Power Rangers being the hottest toys when I was growing up.
❤
Hey it's the Terminator and Anakin together...wait i think i'm hearing something...
