Get it up a little higher. Get the obstruction from the ground plane area. It will disrupt the signal dispersion Are you running a rx and tx or just two radios . ? I love building stuff. I currently have my yagi about 46 ft up off the corner of my house on some fence top rail tubing. About an 1 1/4". I built a yagi and some j poles. It's fun man. J poles are awesome base antennas and are easy to make. Do you own an swr meter ? My max reach on repeaters in my state with land blocking me is about 32 miles. Gmrs
I tried taking it down and I put it on a tripod about 7ft high about 20feet from the house. Swr is still over 4. I’ve tried 3 different antennas, shortened the coax run and still high swr. The only good antenna I have is the little 1/4 wave that came with the midland mxt275. The swr is 1.4
