@@mandytuning the satellite mount is perfect for this antenna and larger ones. When the wind hits a satellite dish, it applies allot of force to the mount and it holds up well. The small diameter HAM/GMRS antenna does not receive anywhere near that force. And who doesn’t have an unused satellite dish these days?
      Have a great day

What is your SWR on this antenna? For some reason I’m getting 1.7 to 1.9 and sometimes even 2.2 with this exact same antenna. I’m using 25ft of KMR-400 coax.

I am getting around 1.3-1.6. That being said, my meter is very old and I am not sure how accurate it is and what frequency it is designed for. I am in the market for a new one designed for GMRS frequency. What frequency is your meter designed for?

Great job sir. Nice clean install. I like the re-purposing of the dish mount. Also, very nice spread you've got. Love rural living!!

Where did you purchase the GMRS antenna, also what coaxial cable did you use, and how long was the run? I've been thinking about using the old antenna base from direct tv on the side of my house.
    Nice video.

I bought all my stuff on Amazon. Antenna: HYS 200w GMRS 460-470mhz. COAX: upgraded since the video to KMR 400 UHF. The run is about 35’ to my Philllips COAX Grounding Block and then 6’ to my desk in the house. The grounding block is connected to my grounding rod about 6’ away with solid copper 6 gauge wire.
The use of the dish mount makes it easy to mount the antenna in many locations. The antenna has very little wind drag compared to the dish. Also they look better than some of the other options out there and in most cases. , it is free.
The current setup hits most of the repeaters in my area with my HT or base station connected.
      Hope this helps out.8

Does the antenna need any kind of tuning or does it come pretuned

It comes pretuned for GMRS frequencies. Works great and has a low SWR.
I will be upgrading the coax to LNM 400 next week.
