It seems ironic that a video about audio quality is recorded in poor quality
I muted it, but swear I can still hear the clipping.
I agree.
Not a very ringing endorsement for ACX University.
Just saying.
This was really the best audio you could get?
Or was it just the one microphone that was so awful?
His mic sucked.
Hers was fine.
No. Soon as she raised her voice the audio was awful.
And we could not hear the questions. Really?
No one could put a mic in their hand?
Heard the 2nd speaker but not the first. The 3rd was pretty distorted.
Absolutely the first thing I noticed. I was afraid my speakers had blown for a moment until I saw the comments section lol.
LMAO I was about to comment something similar.
@@LifeOfMissG Exactly what I was thinking as soon as I clicked it on. Cicadas are louder than the audience input.
I love the audience participation that you can't even effing hear!
Action starts at 5:35
In this video, it talks about the importance of coaching for narrators. Mike from ACX says they know lots of people who do this and, if we need any suggestions, just send them an email. I sent them an email. Their reply: "As of right now, we do not offer that and I'm really sorry, but this is something that you will need to find out for yourself".
PS: People complaining about the sound quality: it sorts itself out after the intro, so stick with it and all is fine after a couple of minutes.
No it doesn't
A lot of good advice here, which can be heard plain enough.
Thanks for posting these sessions 👍
It would be beneficial for those of us watching the youtube videos if Kat or Mike could repeat the questions from the audience as it is difficult to hear the questions asked by the audience/
Thank you for the useful information. I endured the poor sound quality through this and the second video, and got some good tips. Such a pity that a company this big can’t make a decent production on the sound. Three half decent lavalier mics from Amazon would have done the trick, and of course a decent sound engineer that could ride the faders to compensate for the lack of microphone technique.
You need to realize that when you ask the audience questions and they give you answers, we can't hear them clear enough to understand them at all. Took you a long time to get the audience member a mic. Otherwise you need to tell us what they said.
I thought this was all really great information. I am brand new...like...don't even know if I am good enough to do this new, lol. But this seems like a great place to start.
So... How's it going 3 years later? 😉😊
You too can sound this good.
Is it possible to get subtitles or a transcript of what the folks off-mic are saying?
I love Ellen Archer!
Everybody saying the audio sucks. She’s using a sm58 and not even speaking directly into it.
Thank you for the info
It would be very helpful if the hosts at least repeated the question so those watching the videos could know what the questions are.
It got a little intense there at the end...
as a newbie on ACX i watched this video that was promoted on their site, i'm confused as to how we are supposed to take this video as help when the audio was terrible in this video. Did not help me at all, and I see that many ppl already made this comment.
This is six years old....does the the info on Top Categories still apply?
It's kind of odd that for a video about Audio book narration the acoustics of the audience speakers are a bit off.
Very frustrating to hear a question asked that is unintelligible and your answer is "absolutely!" If the questioner doesn't have the mic, you need to repeat his question for the video.
Should I be concerned that the audio quality of this video is so horrendous? You'd think... 🤔
Cassette recorder, showing age? How about an 8-track, or a tape reel that you have to manually load it and wind it around the other reel?
I guess this video about audio quality is a great example of what NOT TO EVER PUBLISH.
And the audio for the audition is . essentially missing
hello?? You are saying "uh huh, yeah, that". and WE CANT HEAR THEM.
Hello there, I am looking for someone in the Los Angeles area that could spend a day and tutor me on recording and editing.
How do I fix my nasal sound? I recently submitted my audition and wasn't cast. I only submitted one audition. I thought I sound one way inside but others say I sound sick or nasal. My grandmother told me my adenosis needs to be taking out. but I went to a sleep study and she told me my adenosis is gone. but I snore.
I believe it's related to your breathing. You can try practicing breathing exercises. Breathing from the diaphragm and pushing the air through your mouth. You can try singing while holding your nose to get used to breathing through your mouth. I'll bet there's plenty of videos on youtube that can help with this.
@@IAmReceiving... Thank you. I also have a weak diaphragm in a way because I am not a runner.
The audio is not so good. It’s muffled. Also, the questions from the audience need to be repeated by the facilitators.
Oh the irony
Nice audio😅
Using 'coachings' as a noun, is that some weird acting community thing?
Hilarious that every ACX tutorial has trash audio quality. If it's not over blown, one mic is hot and the other is too soft, or the overall gain is so low that all volume and speaker controls have to be maxed to hear it properly.
This is painful to listen to. Not just the horrendous audio but also the cringe attempt at audience participation.
the room they are in feels like a fever dream
Please fix the audio on this....the irony.
The sound engineer must have been a REAL hater... the audio is vile...
That lady is really freaking pregnant. Also, who cares about the audio quality, this was produced for the people in the audience, as long as you can hear it, who cares
Every video I've watched, no matter what year it was made, she's pregnant 😂
Ryan Gäble “our lady of perpetual pregnancy”
She's about 16 months pregnant!
I don't know who needs to read this but you DO NOT need to move to Los Angeles to improve your acting skills. Acting is dying there. I can't speak for NYC but I've heard it's good. But there is no more acting in LA with the exception of a few good coaches. (And some of them are now on zoom.)
