Just because you get a mean comment and can't sleep doesn't mean your depressed, just sensetive. I barely sleep well like 6h a day and i get picked on a lot but i ain't depressed neither does that affect me.

I'm 19 now, I started writing so many things down since I was 13 ish something, because I had absolutely no friends...I started to feel deeply depressed at the age of 14 and it went on for more than four years...I could not write anything about myself but I wrote wierd stuff about madness and the way our universe isn't more than an illusion we've created ourselves...
I ,then, stopped writing but still expressed the THING by drawing (mostly scrawling) ...
And this still continues.
To anyone who reads this,please start writing in a diary,no matter whatever you write will turn into a really precious source of self awareness in 3 years ..start today.

The doctor would tell her to make a log in a diary, and to feel free writing about her day along with it. When my mom was in a car accident and had to take the insurance company to court she was advised to keep a diary of her pain and how it effected her everyday life.

Its just like the immense sadness you feel when you finish a beautiful novel with all characters are at peace with their life and they just left you there all alone. You are no longer in their life. It hurts, it really does.
I started my diary at 12 in 1987 and documented everything I went through until I was around 22. I never wanted to forget what it was like to be a young person. I've only shared bits and pieces with my 17 and 19 year old daughter's so far. I was something else! Not sure what to do with it yet but names must be changed to protect the innocent😁.

Eh, I think it was the way she read it. Believe me, I'd know if she had depression 😉 but i think her anxiety plays such a role that in the way she acts in a average life, she's only analyzing everything to an extent, keeping her awake at night which makes her constantly tired, showing little but some symptoms of depression but mostly in need of bed rest and a companion 🙃
Everybody's depression is different. Saying "I'd know if she had depression" is a little far-fetched, especially considering the limited amount of information about the person we were given. Though, with the information we were given, it isn't wrong to be inclined to say she DID have depression. The (what seems to be) insomnia, how we really only hear about her eating (drinking) Slimfast, and her reliance on her companion (in this case a dog) especially if she was having to take care of an elderly, or possibly sickly father. All signs would point to having depression (though, again, we can't be sure because of how little info we have). I also don't see many signs of anxiety considering how often she went out. I suppose it is up for interpretation, though.
It sounds to me like she had a eating disorder. Drinking slim fast everyday. Claudia saying she’s fat. Not sleeping well. But the biggest clue was that when she said all she wanted to do was sleep and eat. I think that because of the feelings I have for myself

I didn't think of that but I did find myself asking if she was okay, and thinking she seemed kind of depressed. I hope she's alright.
Diarrhea too, she may have been taking laxatives and stuff like that.

They should make a movie about people buying these Diaries and then it goes into sort of a flashback whenever you read them. and you get to see their life. all interesting things sad heartbreaking happy funny. I think it would make a really good movie. and at the end it's like you learned A Life Lesson and it helps you with the hard times in your life by reading about others throughout the years.

You should really read A Tale for the Time Being. It's one of my favourite books and it's pretty much how you described the movie. "It's a novel by Ruth Ozeki narrated by two characters, a sixteen-year-old Japanese American girl in Tokyo who keeps a diary, and a Japanese American writer living on an island off British Columbia who finds the diary washed up on shore some time after the 2011 tsunami that devastated Japan." You basically get to read the girl's diary together with the writer as she's trying to figure out who that girl was and if she's okay and alive. It gets pretty deep and sad at some point but also has some heartwarming moments.
