Cocodrie is an excellent summer pattern fishing hotspot for speckled trout.
In this trip I run out first thing in the morning to fish the rigs and islands located not far from Coco Marina.
The tide really could have been moving better, and that was definitely the challenge to overcome.
And there were other challenges!
Lots of dink trout. I mean TONS of throwbacks. It was that kind of day where you would catch ten just to finally land one that was over twelve inches.
And, to make matters worse, there were sharks on the prowl eating fish as I reeled them in to the boat.
But this part of what makes Cocodrie such an amazing fishing destination.
I will certainly be back to fish Cocodrie again, because I really want to figure the area out and reap the reward of incredible speckled trout fishing.

Glad you’re getting over to the cocodrie area. I need to visit it soon. After years of busting my ass I’ve finally qualified for our BCKFC championship this year and of course ..: it’s being held in cocodrie this year. Somewhere I’ve never been 😂 so it’s good to see some footage from out there (even if I can’t take the kayak as far out as the boats). Time to put the LAFB into overdrive and start doing homework on a new place. Thanks for the classes. They’re a huge help.
What's the tournament format? Species? Can you put in wherever you want?
I really appreciate the awesome feedback, Eddie. Anyone who wants to learn more about LAFB Elite can do so on this information page: www.lafbelite.com/join-lafb-elite/
@@LAFishBlog we have to launch out of coco marina on nov 20th and it’ll be some combination of redfish and trout. All Details aren’t released just yet no problem man, there’s a wealth of great knowledge in the course. I learn something new every time that I revisit it.
I know this is a year old but thank you for your channel! That's my old stomping grounds where I'm from! I moved up towards Chicago 24 years ago and you brought me back home I had a camp there past boudreaux canal. I miss my fishing the food and the people. Love your channel!
Deathgrip jig heads are amazing and worth every penny. But not for rig fishing that’s for sure. I buy death grip jig heads specifically for redfish spinners and bayou jigging
Subscribed! Like the content. Was in cocodrie a few weeks back, lots of cookie cutter specs around 12 and sharks to match it seems lol. What boat do you fish from?
Back in 1965 I used a catfish flipper for the first time in Mandrrville. I flip a large hardheaded up in the air on the the way down he hit both my knees and then in the side of the foot. I use two pliers now and squeeze their brains out. Making floaters.
Nice video keep them coming. We went there this Saturday to timbalier Bay sharks are everywhere
Thanks! Will do!
How many times did you get hung up? Be honest.

Capt Devin, I see you have the minnkota terrova with ipilot that's not the riptide model. How's it holding up in the salt. Been in the market for a while for one !
That's an Ultrex. It definitely rusts.
@@LAFishBlog tenfo. So ima go with the riptide then. Thanx for the reply
I went a few weeks ago nothing but sharks. I haven’t tasted saltwater like that in many years and beautiful water.
Yeah, it's salty the way I like, one reason why I made the drive. It's a looong ride, though. lol
@@LAFishBlog it is a long ride from the northshore nice catch!! I have a buddy looking at camps in that area so hopefully I get a few over night invites.
Hey man I might have to show you some spots in dularge and dulac if we can get a fishing trip😂
Shiet, I’m no Pro-fisherman like Captain Devin, but I’ll take you on my boat if you show me some good spots
Luke, thanks for the kind offer, but I'd rather find fish on my own. Thank you!
I went to the wrong boat launch Devin. Sorry man, next time we'll clarify where to meet up a little better. I won't miss our next trip.
Damn bruh you missed a trip with Devin? Id pay to fish with him, id laugh the whole time!
Where is the spot in cocodrie if u don’t mind asking bud
I really hate handing out fishing spots because I feel that takes away from the point of going fishing in the first place. Reeling in fish is easy, finding them is the true challenge.
icast was a super spreader maybe? Chad hoover got the covid at icast
nice episode!! there needs to be a bounty on some of these sharks. also ive been trying to find some good light weight pants since i burnt the back side of my knees last time haha. what pants are you wearing and or what do you prefer?
Eddie Bauer, for sure.
@@LAFishBlog thanks!!
I know you don't like giving locations away but do you mind telling me a round about figure on how long of a boat ride it takes to those rigs? Or the general area. Thanks.
How fast is your boat?
@@LAFishBlog picking up an h20 bay with a 115 in a few weeks
Ruh Roh !! You got da RONA Cap ?
Did you get a new clicker counter?
I ordered like six of them off Amazon lol
Hey man I thought I saw you Sunday in black bay. Did you end up finding any?
Yes and no.
Check LAFB Inshore on Facebook for the fishing report I posted there. Thank you!
What kind of Jigheads do you use? I've been just using goldeneyes
I use the bulk bags that are sold at local tackle stores like Gus' Tackle and Chag's
🎣🎣
I swear I was gonna ask what jig heads you use and talk about death grip🤦🏽♂️
lol Death Grip are great jigheads, I think they're better under a cork than broken off on a rig. I use a locally made jighead for jigging that can be found at local stores in SE Louisiana, like Gus' Tackle, Puglias, Chag's, etc.
@@LAFishBlog I’m on the sw side we have some tackle stores but mostly just big sporting good stores. I order death grips. You’re right about them being broken off. I fish 1-3 times a week and go through a good amount of jigs Some guys say to superglue the jig on but I’ve never tired that.
@@LAFishBlog off the wall question. Where did you get your bag you keep your plastics in?
Can you go and check out myrtle Grove area?
Unfortunately, I can't fish everywhere all the time. Maybe one day.
