Cool video but you might want to tell people to be careful because if they do this you run the risk of blowing your 15 amp PCM fuse in the dash and then wonder why the car won’t start stumped me for about 20 minutes till I realized it actually burned up the fuse for the relays including the infamous ASD
@@Botcheykibbles46 having to small of a gauge wire could short it out most common are 12 gauge look at the amp do a little research to see the output/input
I'm definitely going to look into it. Went out there tonight and retraced everything wires and hoses. Ended up finding out 1 fan was pushing and the other was pulling. Fixed it and now its sitting right at 205 with this mod and 180 t stat. Thanks again bud. I'm going to definitely look into the 160 and gasket
For sure! Any time. Im full of idea's that work so if u ever get stuff let me know! I can try to help. I may not know everything but i know alot of things that could help!
better to just turn the fan temp down on the diablosport. 180 degree thermostat and set the fans at 180. I've never seen my temp over 185 with the ac on in 100 degree weather.
I am on a stock tune no tuner yet. This is just a general mod that can be done on any stock car. i don't get over 175-180 degrees now. I have a nice code reader and it said highest temp was 180 a/c on or off sitting in hot traffic or not. My Normal operating temperature is around 170 highest it peaks is 180. But you are correct it would be ALOT easier to turn the temperature down in the tuner. I have a 160degree thermostat so it helps keep it way cooler and with fans on at all time it cools down really fast which is nice because i was getting WAY to hott for my liking.
its cool Lol im trying to squeeze the fastest 1/4 mile outta her on stock tune and boost level and then get a tune. so far 13.4 @105mph. gonna break 12s soon
its cool Lol im trying to squeeze the fastest 1/4 mile outta her on stock tune and boost level and then get a tune. so far 13.4 @105mph. gonna break 12s soon
James Dguy nice. that's pretty good for stock tune. the stock tune has a little room for more boost. my Afr was in the 10s bone stock. was able to run around 18psi on the stock tune with just a stage 2 wga if I remember. Afr was high 11s I think
"It was confirmed at the 2005 SRT Nationals by the SRT Engineers that a 180 thermostat is okay to use. However they don't recommend going any lower than 180."
I actually need to do a video on this lol. I did this once. I ran a toggle and did this so during cold seasons I could turn it off during cold seasons and since sensor was bad the car warmed up quick. But on my Honda not the srt4.
Mines an 2003 srt and with the ac running my temp stays at 200 which is fine for a cast iorn block. With it off on a hot day it risesto 210 which again not bad since the factory head gasket is pretty darn thick. If we had aluminum blocks then yes pop goesthe motor
I've got a 03 with a tune equivalent to a stage 1 upgrade and the fans stay on once the engine reaches near 200F. Even when I'm beatin it up as soon as I lift she runs well below 200.
+James Dguy - Do a Thermostat By-Pass + get a 12V DC Electronic Thermostat $4 Controller, hook that to your " Negative Wire " or Relay if your Fan is Rated over 20Amps... It will TURN ON the FAN - Whatever the Temps you want or wishes. Save a lot of Headaches, Over Heating Issues... FINE TUNE IT ANYWAY YOU WANT !!! Best of all COST $4.00 :D
+James Dguy - Although you are right about the FREE GROUND WIRE. But the Fan is on 24/7... Not literally 24/7 per say... But it will be on once the Key is On :(((. That is not good since it drains too much juice from your Battery / Alternator as you already know. Plus running a Fan like that will make the Fan break and cost more Money :(((. I think $4.00 approach would be cheaper don't' you think?
The motor's designed to run at 195°. You need the oil to get to that temperature to burn off condensation and work properly. I wouldn't be running that thermostat in the winter time. Not sure why you did a 160 and didn't just do a 180.
thats a good idea. My car need cooling all the time more Hp lol. but during winter most people would probably remove this but it got cold the other morning 50degrees (cold for us here right now) and made it to the end of the block after start up and it was already blowing warm air out the vent but with a coolant cooled turbo I expected as much. but I might put a switch on it for this winter.
Skittle Fabz no. You just put a 1 wire ground switch and it does the same thing in the video. It’ll turn on and off with the car. Plus you aren’t getting out of the car with it off and those fans screaming and forgetting. It would also help because above 50mph you don’t have any reason for the fan to be running and wearing itself out faster.
Liking your video, one question? You already have an upgraded radiator that wasn't Mentioned. That has increased cooling with lower stat and now constant Fans, won't be needed.
James Parra I was hitting 225+ when sitting during the summer running a/c without constant fans even with everything done such as lower temp thermostat and aftermarket radiator. Afterwards it was 195-200 constant even less on cooler days
DUDE!... Fuel rail w/AN fittings, catch can, ECT...? ... You have sum $$ under that hood... I bet you have a tuner (DST) right? ... With your tuner you can make your cooling fans turn on at any temp you want? ... Or do you have a pre-programmed pcm like Mopar Stage 1?
When I hooked mine up like this on my cavalier I didn't have to turn my electric on it turned on all on its own I hope it don't kill my battery....what should I do James I messaged you on Facebook too lol
Good video, only issue might be is that oil needs to be 180 or above to make unburned gases in oil to be sucked thru your pvc valve.oil under 180 degrees will not make gases in oil evaporate, making oil in ur car thinner.
He's saying the colder the coolant, the colder the overall engine temp. I believe he's intending to mention how if you never exceed 180*, the engine never reaches the optimal temp for operation.
Fuel pressure gauge. It saved my ass so much work a few times. One time fuel pressure dropped down to 40psi and i was having issues i looked at the gauge knew it was a fuel issue and it ended up being a prior owner problem. They never did a return line fuel filter because factory fuel filters need blocked off on the FPR side. So i blocked the side that needed it off and BAM went back to 60psi i believe (dont quote me on psi)
Does this mod work with a non turbo neon? I've tried this and it just blows a fuse. Maybe I need it in a different spot not sure? Would be great if someone helped!
Unfortunately I did do this and only one fan kicks into high while the other only comes on with ac. Ive replaced water pump. Timing. 180 tstat. New radiator and fans. New cap. And still getting up to red line. Coolant isnt boiling over either. I'm at a loss. These 100° temps on Florida are fucking me right now
ya we are at 108+ here in kansas lately. I would do the 160 thermostat u can order it online at o'reilly's website. U can not order it in store but the 160 is what i have and it works amazing! On super hott days while running a/c it gets about 200 at MOST 220. But it hardly ever runs that hott anymore. But make sure u use fans that have shrouds like the factory setup they draw in A LOT more air flow. Im at a loss too that sounds like everything i would tell you too do. U could get a Oil cooler and run it in front of the intercooler but instead of using it as a oil cooler u could run the turbo coolant thru it to cool it down a bit more. Also if u have a cat it could be getting plugged up a little causing higher engine temps. I have seen it before. Worth a shot. Here in kansas we don't have emission laws so im catless
Gonna switch mine to this now. Do you know how to do the clutch bypass for remote start?? Mine has had it on there for a while now, then for some reason it failed. 🤷🏻♂️ Power accessory key on but no start. Unless I push the clutch in🤦🏻♂️
Violet Lynn Scraton It should be like a civic just run the 2 clutch wires together at the clutch pedal but I am not 100% sure since I never did it to the SRT. Becarful to do this fan thing carefully or it will blow a fuse can’t remember which one but that will make it not start so if it don’t start that’s the issue!
Either bad fans or bad relay?. I have done it to a few SRT-4 and never had a no fan turn on problem. Now if your car don't start afterwards there is a fuse that tends to sometimes blow.. I can't remember which one but don't freak out just check ur inside door panel fuse by fuse. This only blows if it accidentally touches the positive on the relay. Hope that helps
Nice but the 160 t stat did that alone best remedy is 160-180 t stat 20 psi dcr cap and royal purple purple ice or red line Coolant Additive even water wetter is good and never had an issue with temps rising over 200 again
Just bought an 03with 139K basically stock just bolt ons .. everything else is stock .anyways when the car is idling it stays at like 210 then when fans kick on it goes back to 200 even. Bit when I'm driving it stays at 200 or a bit cooler . Stock fans and radiator with new mopar coolant .. could I benefit from this mod ?
Over 200 is normal for coolant fed turbo on them I feel like everyone can benefit from this mod. Be careful not to blow a fuse but if ur car don’t start after this mod check for a fuse on the side of the dash. It’s easy to hit the wrong pin on the relay. Hope this mod helps you! Also during winter I would remove the fan mod because of the cold air might take longer to warm up.
@@JamesDguy awesome man thank you also would water wetter help to ? Heard alot of guys using them granted I live In CT and we're starting to get cold up here . One more question since you seem to know alot about these I'm new.. how are the head gaskets on these Mine being basically stock ? My car doesn't smoke maybe a puff of Black smoke on full boost that's about it needs at tune badly. And transmission is fine no grinds in any gear .

will do! Yea im hoping I can save just a few more engines. if they do the mod and fans dont kick on it means its time for new fans
If you wanna try to get real crafty run a negative to a toggle switch in the cabin so you can choose when to turn the fan on or off.
