Which foods are “best” can be subjective and full of opinion. Your choice of foods may differ from mine, and that’s okay. As long as your fish are happy, healthy and spawning, you’re doing it right. I forgot to mention in the video that my L174 are fond of fresh courgette. So they do receive feedings of this veggie, as do my L397. My pekoltias and other hypancistrus haven’t shown much interest it. Which foods do you like to feed, and why? Post your response below and share with the community. Thanks for watching. 👍
It is weird, My favourite blend is super green and bottom scratcher, but since Covid I can not get it in Sweden anymore. The DIY Paste, is it only available in the U.S?
Wow! just what I needed to hear. I have begun using Dr. Bassleer as well. Love the stuff--for all the same reasons. I am just having a time finding a source here in Canada. The Soft granulates (black packets) I also feed to my fish are just what you are using as well. The fish do love it. The brand name is "Discus Food" and it's on the back but in small print. It's not "Discus" food per se, it's just the brand name, and a popular one in Europe. Low-and-behold, I was given a packet of the Plecoceramics paste just a few weeks ago as a gift from my LFS to try out and I didn't have a good introduction to it so it's been sitting here, but now because of your video, I'm excited to give it a try. I will first watch the videos at Plecoceramics to understand even better the concept. I'm amazed sometimes at how much our fishrooms have in common. I have L134s and now a new group of 471s that hopefully will be reproducing before long. Thanks for the "Go To" video.
I really enjoy watching all your videos. Very informative. You're one of my favorite content creators featuring plecos. I was very disappointed when you stopped creating content this past year or so. I hope all is well and you continue to provide excellent content to all us pleco fanatics for the coming years.
One of my favorite foods that I get from the grocery store is tofu firm,it’s just protein and calcium a lot of other fish love it besides my plecos.Great for shrimp and snails.
My new plecos won't eat anything I offer them. The wood in the tank had about 1/4 inch of biofilm on it. So I started keeping wood in a tank to grow biofilm to add or change out when needed. My 5 juvenile bristle nose plecos have tripped in size in 3 weeks.
Dr Basleer has become a staple for my rainbows and plecos. I haven't found a fish that doesn't like it yet. I like the ingredients of the Plecoceramics DIY paste and Tabs but some of my pleco species don't really like it
my fleet of BN's love worm-pellets. I used to have green phantoms that also loved the worm pellets. i used to use shrimp pellets, but then they changed the formula to crap, and the fish let me know big time. be well.
Hi Tom, It seems like Your Fish Stuff Veggie Pellets Green Supreme is no longer to be found (May be that product has been discontinued). Do you know any place to buy them? Thanks
Thank you Tom, very great information! I’m getting close to graduating to fancy L number plecos. Still in the middle of ancistrus bn plecos at the moment. I feed fresh zucchini ,cucumber, canned green beans, repashy soilent green- it’s made out of people! Movie reference🤣 and pleco waffers by hikari and tetra. They seem very happy and very healthy , breeding machines like every 3 weeks a new batch. But I want to move up to the more elite plecos, watching your channel is quite inspiring🙂👍🏻
Good video Tom! I'm totally offended on which brine shrimp hatchery I'm using! LMBO. Just kidding. I need to try out the Pleco Ceramics food soon. Thanks for the tips! Merry Christmas!
Nice vídeo! Nice content 👌 Some of these foods I also use in my fishroom, some of which are easier to get here in Europe (Portugal), such as EBO. I love Dr. Bassleer fishfood 👍
I'm new to the L plecos. I have five L397's. I was told to feed bloodworms to them along with veggies and wafers. I would like to know if bloodworms are the right food for this group? They don't seem excited over veggies as they take their time eating. I've noticed an increased amount of waste in my tank. I use an HOB and a sponge filter. How often should I do water changes? I'm trying to learn with this group, so I am sorry for all the questions??
Hi Have you had any luck breeding L183 starlight bristlenose? Iv recently bought 4 adults (2 male, 2 female) and would be really greatful for any help i can get. I have a few small bags of peat pellets in my external filter to try and lower th Ph a little bit for a start
Sir my plecos are always hiding in a corner. Do i 1) spot feed them or can i just leave food at a corner where i would love them to feed at and 2) how do i train them to eat in the morning as i understand that they are nocturnal. Thank you kind sir 😊
i loved bug bites until they changed their formula, now my plecos wont eat it, and yes , I did contact the company to show them the difference in color, size, and ingredients, told them to change the formula back. anyone with recent info??
I always forget to put my pleco wafers away and my cat tears the bags apart. My cat has eaten way more algae wafers than my blue eyed ancistrus have...lol.
Sadly, Pleco Ceramics has been affected by the war in Ukraine. The owner had to flee, leaving this business behind. I hope he's been able to return - safely - to his home and his business.
Ebo will stop his food production. He is looking for other company’s to take over the brand and recipes. Even in Europe you can’t get it anymore. Shame!!! Good food. Nice to see you feed almost all Europeaan foods to you’re fish. Harder to find in the USA, but not for me. Dr Basleer is a personal friend of mine. He know’s his stuff. Never have i caught him give medicine to his fish. Only his food.
the picture shows a hypancistrus L333. Please do not feed this food to them its not the right food. For normal Pleco's its fine. But L333.. They need meety foods (mine go really well with mixed beef heart with shrimp (naturel) and a little bit of brocolli or pea's - add garlic to enhance the fish their appetite) as soon as i trow in this frozen mixture they go absolutely grazy. I read that they do not like competitive fish cause they are not but with this stuff almost no other fish in my tank gets a chance eating it. Never feed them vegetables as a main food source its bad for them. tummy will swell up at some point and they die. Also dried foods are not a "Go To" imo, feed them frozen stuff and on the days you dont want to take it out and you are a bit hasty or lazy just give them the bugbites (regular or tropical for more color) - shrimpsticks (made from shrimps) but that's it.. They grow fast, look amazing and no deaths this way. Also always keep your water clean, thats another big thing.

Good stuff, Tom! Quite a variety on your shelf there.

Hey Tom, not sure if this has been mentioned or not. But pleco hotels on band can get ebo food on the US. They have everything you were using
Thanks for sharing Tom!
No need for brine shrimp. Try frozen cyclops for fry instead. The new paste looks good, I need to try. Good to see you making videos again.
Hey Tom I get my Ebo directly now from Germany. I also incorporate veggies w/my regular food 3-4 times a week. It takes a bit to get in from Germany💕

How’s that Pleco Ceramics paste working out? It’s intriguing…I know I’m a year late to the party but a little green to the breeding hobby!
Been waiting for this vid. Thanks for the knowledge

One of the best Food for Plecos. ( Krill & Artemia ) Softgranulat👍
Great video. Your caves @16:00 in your video reminds me of squid games. :).
Do you also give them bitter gourd? Do you boil it first?
Tom how did the new Plecoceramics paste turn out?
