Great video, Sarah. That caliper paint job looks awesome. The wheel spacers worked out really well too. I appreciate your hard work and dedication to your channel and subscribers.
Sarah, you really look like you enjoy working on the TT. No matter how late and tired you get, you still have a genuine smile of satisfaction in almost every teeter tot video. Great job!
Sarah, I am so impressed with your work ethic and focus. When you’re finally ready, some young man is going to be extremely fortunate to be chosen by you.
You know, I never realized Sarah had real clean fingers and cool looking nails! It just goes to show you, you can work on a vehicle and keep clean! Mechanics get a bad rap for being dirty. Been wrenching for 30 years and my hands and nails are just as clean as the day I was born. Keep up the good work!! Cheers.
Ugh. I hate twist in caliper pistons. Discovered them for the first time working on a Volvo I gave my nephew. I actually ended up fabricating a tool by folding steel into a handle and leaving a round face that I welded two pegs onto. That way I could twist and use a C-clamp at the same time. It was actually my first car vid and is still one of my most popular! Great work again, Sarah. The caliper match looks good!
Sarah you’re making great progress and your dedication is unwavering. Plus you’re only as alone as you want, there is a whole community here on UA-cam, someone would be willing to hangout in your garage 😋
The snow was unexpected. Girl, you have more snow there than I do at the moment in Central NY (just west of Syracuse). All I see is the green grass here. Nice job mixing the paint for the rear calipers. You do have a good eye for color. You are amazing !
Wow that ocular is pretty close! I made pressure bleeder out of a weed sprayer... And made my own caps for the brake systems I use it on.. Was cheap and pretty easy to make. I have always used my hand vacuum tool to clean out the master and filed it with new fluid and then bleed the system... Saves getting the air in. Seems tow work well... Good that you have people that willed you tools!
Love your videos Sarah! I've met women that "pretend" to be into cars but we can tell you know your stuff. I told my wife I have a huge crush on you and she's so jealous! Maybe that will motivate her to help me out with my S2000. Keep up the good work! 😀
I never really comment but I've been watching for a while now......love the videos Sarah! Your passion for cars comes through in each vid and that's so cool to see. Also your quirky sense of humor is awesome. You're very genuine and that's rare to see these days on UA-cam or in real life world lol. The calipers look sick. Love how the TT is coming along. Keep up the good work!
The calipers look GREAT! Looks like a powerade bottle to catch the old fluid. Might be something else, but that's the same bottle I used due to it's size and sturdiness. I saw 10 year old red fluid when I flushed out my truck for the first time, earlier this year. I never used a pressure bleeder before but if I ever do, your wisdom will come in handy!
The paint job on the rear calipers came out great! Plus, am I the only person that finds the clicking of a torque wrench satisfying? I use mine on nearly every mechanical fastener.
That's a decent amount of snow! I had grass in Canada on New Year's day. Really working hard on this, thanks for putting in so much effort for yourself and us! =D (it means a lot to us fans!)
I love your videos, they are just fun to watch. Your awkwardness is what makes them so great, the intros always crack me up. I’m a Ford guy so I don’t watch for the cars, I think you’re a great personality, I think you might be my favorite UA-cam’er. Keep up the great work and happy 2019!
I've never thought of mixing spray paint like that, genius. teeter tot has come a long ways! I used to have a 300zxtt which was an absolute nightmare to work on so I get the pains you're dealing with with these two projects. And the snow....I'm in indiana, did not realize you got snow, lol.
Congratulations!! I am most impressed with your color matching. That is way more difficult than one would think. I know because I have botched it plenty of times.
That wet snow laid nicely! Thanks for adding that to the video! I totally feel you on dealing with parts that are such a pain to install or remove when it could be done much simpler.... I guess that is why people take their cars to the dealer.
Just want to say I subscribed to you because your videos are awesome, and it's not very often you find a woman like yourself that's as knowledgeable and passionate about cars. You have my utmost respect. Keep on trucking along in 2019 and I wish ya the best Sarah. 😁👍 - Devyn J, from Idaho -
@arah -n- Tuned the press and turn mechanism is there because the caliper auto adjusts the handbrake when the break pads wear out and get thinner. It is like this on every car that has the handbrtake built in the rear brake caliper.
Nice work staying with it . Glad you got the low cost motive products bleeder. It has saved my butt many times. You put your heart into your work and videos. Thanks. Watching your videos is much better than redingote bad news of the world. You make a difference to all of us.
That came out remarkably nice for spray paint. It'll be interesting to see how they stand up to heat. The special tool required to retract those pistons can be had for just a couple of bucks at most auto part stores. It looks like a little cube with little pins sticking out, and 3/8" drive square holes in each side.
Garage-Hood. I like it. It's unique. My aunt & uncle live in Roosevelt AZ and they got an inch of snow on New Years Day. Hasn't snowed there in 10 years.
Great Video. For small items I use the PREVAL sprayer. It’s a bottle with a propellant disposable can on top. Pour the paint and it will spray like a rattle can. You can find them at Home Depot in the spray can section, About $8. Works great. Great Job on the brakes.
That brake cleaning and painting was on point! I have to admit that I was skeptical on the spray paint to brush on while mixing in a tupperware container but damn, that turned out amazing!
wow, really nice work on the color matching of the brake calipers Sarah! Looking at it on video, I couldn't really tell much of a difference at all! Also, yeah, new brakes, especially a big brake kit, makes such a difference, you can def feel the stopping power of the car change so much. Keep up the great work and content!!
I have to admit, I thought you were crazy for trying to use three different colors of spray paint to match the custom painted front calipers but holy crap, you pulled it off! Very nicely done, you should be proud of yourself.
It's like that cause there is a handbrake directly on the calliper and not in a separate drum brake (as you are probably used to seeing). Twist and turn thingie is there so the handbrake self adjusts when you pull it. Great vid as always.
Another great video. Just shows your dedication on this project. The brake callipers look great. Amazing to see the snow. It was 108f here in Melboune OZ today. Then by late afternoon it dropped to 40f in half an hour. Love your tech ta
Looks like a great color match on the calipers I wouldn't worry about it. The only time I've seen snow in Arizona it's when I drove motorcycles up Kitt Peak west of Tucson there was snow up there. I think it was in March in the mid-80s
I've lived in New England all my life and I'd give anything to never have to deal with snow and cold weather ever again. It's strange to see it snowing in Arizona.
You can buy a universal kit of different presses for brakes. The proper tools are easier, they remove the risk of pushing the pucks / pistons back at an angle, and they're not expensive given how much brake work you end up doing in a lifetime. Also, Happy New Year, and thanks for the snow video. I've spent the last few days on the beach here in the NZ summer.
Color match looked great. Those Motive Power bleeders are nice to have, and you can get different attachments to fit different cars' master cylinder reservoirs.
Your a Garage Pin-up Auto Girl, The color was spot on, Great job. You have a lot of room to Do a Fold down bench. Fold it up when not in use. @ 13:31 min there's a Sway bar link - you mite want to up date that to something a little beefier for handling.
Love your channel Sarah . It’s just so good cos you make us all feel like we are all along for the ride fixing up the cars. I’m always looking fwd to the next one 👍🏻
Wow, you never stop working do you? You are a very unique young lady just don’t miss life. The videos are great, sense of humor is perfect lol, Happy New Year!!!!
rattle can paint seems to always dry darker than what it seems when wet. I have a pressure bleeder (circa 1960) that I have been unable to use since the installation of ABS and proportional brake systems . I have used it on grain wagons and implements that still use the simple systems. Essentially what you used there . I have used vacuum pots with success on new brake systems . beats the hell out of the brake pedal pump method
Just as a future reference if you spray the calipers white first for a base coat and then apply your mixed color afterwards you will get a far closer match as just putting your final color over the raw metal itself will make your mixed color look darker than what it should be. Whereas if you put your mixed color over top of a white surface it will pop and be far more accurate of a match. Not critiquing just getting some experience that I've learned from the years. Love the channel and keep doing what you doing
If you ever have to remove a brake system part and open the lines to the atmosphere, pinch the closest flexible part of the brake line with a pair of vise-grips to prevent all of the flui from running out of the open line. The twisting action of the caliper piston is part of how the parking brake works.
finally you get closer to how it is meant to. Hmm,, after watching your videos I feel so lucky that I bought a miata instead of a TT. Hope you get it all working as it should & enjoy driving it with that perfect feeling. I'm sure a few more clip-a-doddles will have no chance against you talent and problems solving. Great job and video. Thanks for sharing. Your hair looks nice tied back.
Great job Sarah! You really do top notch work. Please don't take this negatively but "You need a night out!" Take little Sarah or maybe get in touch with some other car people in the area and let loose a little. It'll recharge your batteries. 😉
I get having to use weird tools to replace disc brake pads. I was always used to collapsing the piston with a c-clamp, but couldn't on my '84 Z28, '85 IROC and my '87 IROC. All 3 had the JL8 4 wheel disc option and to collapse the pistons you needed a special tool to do it. It was about a 1" square junk of steel with a 3/8" drive opening on one side and two little nubs, on opposite corners, across from it. You had to turn and squeeze to get them seated. Luckily it only cost about $4 at Pep Boys. Keep at it kid, it'll all come together.
Sarah, Harbor Freight tools sells a disc brake caliper tool, it’s cheap, and works great on Audi and many other disc brake caliper with internal parking brakes. Makes doing rear brakes quick and easy
The push and twist Rear Caliper is on a few cars Mini Cooper and Mustang I know, and its to run the emergency brake (twist) and the regular brake (push)
Hi Sarah if you had painted the back caliper in white first, let it dry and afterwards with the self-mixed green color you would have hit the color of the front caliper perfectly! Happy New Year by the way!!!
Brilliant! It was worthwhile calculating the spacers so painstakingly! Neat trick with the plastic bag and zip tie! AWESOME JOB Sarah! Tip for next time: I understand that if you had fixed the brake pedal in the depressed position, you could have waited with bleeding until the calipers were re-mounted, ensuring that no air would enter the system (but I don't know Audi so could be wrong). Change of topic: sometime you'll need to take some R&R, to take care of yourself. You're driving yourself very hard. All the best, Rob in Switzerland.
Hey Sarah....love it when a plan comes together!....your attention to detail is inspiring.....I like how you keep everything clean and tidy, sets you up for success...well done and happy New Year!!
Some late model Nissans I believe Hondas have that rear brake caliper where you have to twist it back in the integrated parking brake, I think you can get at Harbor freight I called the cube.
Success well done!!!!!! must be bloody cold at the moment. Lol...... Laughed when you nearly face planted the windscreen. The brakes obviously meet and exceed expectations. You are never alone with all your viewer's.
That color match is pretty good from just spray cans. I also spent nye mostly on my own working on my car and bleeding my brakes for the 3rd time but finally got to drive my miata and even saw some fireworks on my test drive. Happy new year and keep up the good work!
Good paint matching! Tip for next time: Depress the brake pedal until you get light pressure and keep it there with a stick. Then you can open up the brake lines without loosing much of the brake fluid. Its always better to not introduce air into the system even if the plan is to flush everything out.
G'day, Sarah! I love it! ! It's pretty sweet to see snow in Arizona! Delightful job problem solving! That was terrific... I like the your new "Blakes!" 😉 Did you know, my friend is addicted to brake fluid, said he could stop any time. Lol! 🤣 Cheers! 🛠✌🏼❤️
Nice job Sarah! I hope you cleaned out that enginecompartiment verry good! Brakefluid can destroy everything from paint to electric connectors! So watch out!
I bled the brakes on my VW Bora (Jetta in the US) at the weekend and looks like I bled them in the wrong order 😂 Had the same weird green brake fluid come out as well. It's worth getting the proper tool to wind in the rear callipers as in 95k miles I've changed the rear discs/pads twice but haven't touched the fronts. I now have calliper envy looking at yours. Keep the videos coming in 2019...!!!

Jay Fletcher I do enjoy it, even when it gets me down.
I have NEVER seen or heard of somebody mixing spray can paint...LOL! Well done!!!
Chad Parent #art 😂
Sarah, I am so impressed with your work ethic and focus. When you’re finally ready, some young man is going to be extremely fortunate to be chosen by you.
The rear caliper is designed that way to accommodate the emergency/parking brake.
Per rear calipers: Take a large ~22mm+ socket, cut the notches to match the piston, attach to an drill or impact gun and press in. 👍
Cheers.

Great idea with the bag to collect the fluid Sarah! DUH, Why didn't I ever think of that? Awesome job.
watching your video I feel like I was with you in your garage. Technology is changing the world fast. Thanks for sharing. You are a fantastic host.

Hi Sara. You make some very good videos. I love your sense of humor. Greetings from Spain and happy new year.😀
The TT has changed really to the better and the colour is really spot on.Good Job on that.Next some Coilovers and it will perfect.
Came to see the brake upgrade. Got super excited to see happy snow drifts Sarah
Nice work staying with it . Glad you got the low cost motive products bleeder. It has saved my butt many times. You put your heart into your work and videos. Thanks. Watching your videos is much better than redingote bad news of the world. You make a difference to all of us.
Took a couple views to notice how much, but I'm liking the timestamps you're putting on for each day, it's a nice touch.

I made the same mistake with a pressure bleeder cap on my Mk1 MR2, yeah that sucked cleaning up in a hurry!
We got quite a bit of snow here in NM. The scoobs did pretty well considering the tire I'm running.
I have to admit, I thought you were crazy for trying to use three different colors of spray paint to match the custom painted front calipers but holy crap, you pulled it off! Very nicely done, you should be proud of yourself.

Tech talk. You are the perfect woman. You love cars and can work on them as well.

"Clipper-doodles" and "ball thingies" - love your technical descriptions Sarah! ;^) Crazy it's colder in AZ than here in MD. Subscribed!
35 degrees + t-shirt = headlights! But no pan down! You're killing us! Oh wait ... the brake calipers were nice too.
Deffo a womans touch with the paint attention to detail. Good match from what i can see from the screen. Cracking job!
That paint matching was incredible! Well done!
you can use valve stem where the banjo bolt goes to block the brake fluid from dripping

I got a new tool box and welder on the 2nd,sweet ! Get a harbor freight vacuum bleeder cheep and good, uses compressor air to make suction.
Love your channel Sarah . It’s just so good cos you make us all feel like we are all along for the ride fixing up the cars. I’m always looking fwd to the next one 👍🏻

rattle can paint seems to always dry darker than what it seems when wet.

It feels good to get something done and to be able to put the car back on the road to check out your work.
Perfectly matched color :)
Tip : add some silicone grease under the bleeder caps, it keeps the dirt and water from getting inside bleeders.

Good job! Not a big fan of spacers but they did the job. The rear suspension looks different to the '02 225 I had not that long ago.
Very cool! Yeah it was awesome that it snowed here in Tucson. Brought back memories of my childhood in Idaho. 😀😀😉
SAAB 99 has he same idea on the front caliphers due o the self adjusting handbrake where you has to twist the piston to get it in.
Good job Sarah! Nice painting & bleeding. Teeter tot is really coming on well for you. Hope you ate well & slept soundly. ☺️✌🏻
Ford does the same thing on their brake calipers. You can borrow the compression tool kit at some autocrat stores.
The push and twist Rear Caliper is on a few cars Mini Cooper and Mustang I know, and its to run the emergency brake (twist) and the regular brake (push)
Well done! Will be interesting to see more of what those new brakes can do!
Broke my heart when you said you were alone in the garage for New Years! Lol
The color match was really good!
Hi Sarah if you had painted the back caliper in white first, let it dry and afterwards with the self-mixed green color you would have hit the color of the front caliper perfectly! Happy New Year by the way!!!

Intro game is on point LOL This turned out amazing! I'm so glad it worked out!!
You did a great job on the rear caliper paint! Happy New Year!!! Thanks for sharing the snow clip. Never knew it snows in Arizona!!!
Another excellent video, Sarah. And as it's said, it's better to be alone than wish you were.
That color match is pretty good from just spray cans. I also spent nye mostly on my own working on my car and bleeding my brakes for the 3rd time but finally got to drive my miata and even saw some fireworks on my test drive.
Happy new year and keep up the good work!
Happy New Year Sarah! Glad to see things are working out with TT!
Good paint matching!
Tip for next time:
Depress the brake pedal until you get light pressure and keep it there with a stick. Then you can open up the brake lines without loosing much of the brake fluid.
Its always better to not introduce air into the system even if the plan is to flush everything out.
I'm still stuck on the fact it snowed there. Awesome paint match and great job on the bleeding of the breaks keep up the good work
Awesome job!!! Love your dedication to detail!!!
Great job on the color match. Hard to believe that happened from aerosol paint. Great video.
I need one of those little lift Jacks seems very handy when working on cars working in a house garage can be a pain 😡
G'day, Sarah! I love it! ! It's pretty sweet to see snow in Arizona! Delightful job problem solving! That was terrific... I like the your new "Blakes!" 😉 Did you know, my friend is addicted to brake fluid, said he could stop any time. Lol! 🤣 Cheers! 🛠✌🏼❤️
Good paint job on rear brake calipers👍. The spacers we're good fit. Keep up the good work and Happy New Year 🎉.
Looks good! Never thought about painting that way. May have to try this!
Subscribed! Don't know why this came up but I smiled all the way through! Good job done well!
Creative paint mixing. Came out nice too.
Nice job Sarah! I hope you cleaned out that enginecompartiment verry good! Brakefluid can destroy everything from paint to electric connectors! So watch out!
I dumped like 3 gallons of water over the area it spilled, the engine bay and subframe might get a respray when the engine eventually comes out.
