Skyscrapers 2012 - The World's Tallest Buildings ᴴᴰ

  • Опубліковано 30 вер 2024
  • Fourth installment of my skyscraper video featuring the tallest buildings in the world, completed and currently under construction.
Height criteria from CTBUH's first method.
Three buildings were consciously omitted from the video:
Federation Tower (Russia) for having its "spire" as a seemingly separate structure.
Pentominium (Dubai) for having a low likeliness of being completed in its original 516m design.
India Tower (India) for possibly being either downsized considerably, or cancelled all together.
    Music:
0:01 Ryuichi Sakamoto - Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence
3:17 Chrono Symphonic - Manifest Destiny
5:25 James Horner - Creating 'Governing Dynamics'
6:20 Cdnalsi - The Queen Of Goth'arde Prelude
    8:20 Moby - Novio
    9:34 Air - Run
    11:00 Arcana - Closure
12:30 Arcana - Wings Of Gabriel

I wish we had a building over 2,000 feet here in the United States, all we have is the Freedom Tower and the Sears Tower, both are under 1,800 feet. We should building a building, that's 2,500 feet, and call it the Liberty Tower. And on the top there could be a GIANT American flag. Now that, would be cool

Back then, as a kid i was really obsessed with these types of videos. This video was one of my favorite video back then. I was obsessed by tall buildings. As a kid, obviously i wanted to visit all of them. So, i asked my parents to go abroad while school's holiday period. So here I am now. I visited most buildings that were listed in this video. On the past 7 years, i visited Burj Khalifa, Shanghai Tower, Petronas Towers, ICC, IFC, Shanghai World Finance Centre, Damac Heights (which is only like less than 400 meters it was supposed to be 420m), Jian Mao Tower, Taipei 101, and many more. I couldn't mention them all.

Has it really been ten years? Wow. I still remember watching your previous Skyscraper videos and loving the simple format, elegant music, and calming visuals. I still remember hopping on youtube the day this video was uploaded and watching it first thing I saw. The transitions. The nostalgic music. The editing. It was just the best to young me. A decade later, and I still appreciate the care you put into this video. I loved skyscrapers and architecture when I was young, and these videos were my absolute favorite. I’m going to graduate from high school in a couple months, and while i’ve since moved on to other interests, I can’t help but look back and thank you for this video and the nostalgia it brings to when I was so enthralled with this subject.

Skyscrapers usually pop up in regions of strong economic growth. That's why you won't find as many new ones in the west; strong growth isn't possible there under current economic models. Dubai has run out of steam from what I gather, but we'll see an unprecedented rise of skyscrapers in China in the next two decades. Exciting times!

I remember coming across this video years ago, and it marked the beginning of my love for skyscrapers and architecture as a whole. Only recently have I grown to appreciate the music as much as the wonderful content itself. I know I'm not the first to ask about what version of the first theme is used, and I completely understand if you cannot or do not want to provide it for any reason, Adrian, but nevertheless I will cherish this rare gem hopefully for as long as I live. This isn't meant to be a love letter, rather, a warm compliment to a video that has a style that holds up many years later and is appreciated by many, myself among them. Here's to many more years of quality content. Regardless of whether or not you even see this, I must say... Keep up the great work!

    • @HiAdrian

Thank you very much D Stevens, really appreciate it. I wish I could create a new release in this series, but _several_ hurdles have kept me from doing so, one of them being the issue of music (copyright blockage). As a labor of love, I think I'd go the route of licensing stock music this time, assuming there's an affordable option for non-commercial use. I really like some of the stock music *The B1M* uses, for instance.
      Take care!
      Adrian
p.s. As for the version of the first track - I do not know its exact source, it's definitely a live recording. Let's just say I found it online: www105.zippyshare.com/v/kTrEMfXJ/file.html

    • @dstevens278
      @dstevens278 4 роки тому +3

@@HiAdrian However long it takes, I'm willing to wait. Your videos are of a high quality that I haven't been able to find anywhere else. I've seen some videos of the B1M as well and they use nice stock images / footage and music. I'm no expert, but I believe with your expertise you'll find a way to work things out, using the means that you've outlined. I don't have a fraction of the skill to create a list video like this that is really appealing, as opposed to some others I've seen that clearly have less effort put into them. Just remember that there's no pressure and that there will always be people out there appreciating quality content that gets put out by anyone, including yourself.
On a separate note, it's interesting to see what has become of some of these entries. I made a list on all the buildings presented here years ago, but it was deleted as well as all of my other comments when I set my channel to private in the interests of better privacy. Some of these buildings were never completed, others are still on hold so many years later, and others finished much later than expected for their respective reasons. I'm really excited to see the next iteration of this series, should you be able to overcome these hurdles (again, no pressure!), as the list has *really* been shaken up in not even ten years. Wikipedia and CTBUH have useful lists on the current tallest buildings, as well as lists on the future tallest buildings. I'm really astounded at the pace of skyscraper construction ever since the 2008 financial crisis, although I wonder how the current economic recession will affect matters.
Your labor of love really shows through in these amazing videos. Be well, my friend!

As Ruffster12 said, relax dude. You're right that it isn't under construction, but this was difficult to predict. There had been news releases by the architect that construction would commence in January of 2012, and pile testing had been done on site, so i cautiously decided to include the tower in this year's video. It was a gamble and my prediction turned out wrong.
Also: Google maps is not a live satellite feed, the stuff can be months, sometimes even years old.

Not sure what you mean about the ST silhouette. It might look a bit odd compared to my 2010 video, but it's closer to what the real structure will be like - fatter and a bit more curvy. How the top/crown looks depends on the viewing direction of course.

Anyway, let's not argue, i'll forget it if you're 12. All the buildings you listed are either construction sites or finished, so they meet the requirements for my video. Now, a year later, even more would qualify. Other users' videos might have different conditions.

First off, there are different approaches to height classifications.
Secondly, try "What about XYZ?" instead of "You forgot XYZ" and inform yourself before making such statements. Every 5th or so comment is about some supposedly missing building, and has been addressed before, either by me or another user.
Burj Al Alam is dead in the water (literally :P). Regarding India Tower and Pentominium, have a look at the video description.
Keep in mind that a video can't stay up-to-date indefinitely.

Oh and to comment about Kingdom Tower, there is a lot more piling work and diagrams that've come out in only the past month or two. It may not be really underway yet but it's nice of you to include it. Also very nice touch to put in a couple real UC pics of the 1WTC.

Considering the big names involved, i'd be surprised if it didn't come to fruition eventually. It seems far out, even compared to other supertalls, but unless the news reports have been made up, this isn't just some Sheikh's wet dream.

    Hi Adrian,
The first time I watched your skyscrapers videos was more than a decade ago. It was only recently that I started to search for the music you use, especially for the exact version of the first song you list, Ryuichi Sakamoto - Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence. I've literally looked everywhere to find your exact version, but I can't. Do you still know where you found it? Thanks, and your skyscrapers videos are truly amazing.

      @@HiAdrian Hi Adrian,
Thank you so much, that soundtrack just sounds SO amazing!!! Keep up the good work, maybe a new video once the Jeddah Tower is completed? :D

@@ericyy Yeah, we'll see. I hope I get back to it one day. Alas, I don't think I could use a mix of commercial tracks again. I actually slowed down/sped up several tracks on my videos by a few % to avoid automatic detection, but even that got found out years later by better algorithms. So I'd probably have to find some aspiring composer willing to do it for little to no money, or buy some quality stock music.

I don't think it will get built in the proposed design, hence i took it out. Check my video description for possible omissions. I hope to be proven wrong of course, but i'm not optimistic.

I think we all ( Not just us Americans ) Should pause at 9:54 . Just to remember the lives that were lost, And how strong our country is. We're building it back. A skyscraper that brings hope to America, And one that dominates the skyline. Just like it's lost brothers did 12 years ago. It's a skyscrape built to a very important height, 1,776 feet. 1776, The year America claimed it's freedom from Britian. So let's all just stop, And honor the rebirth of a legend.

Did anyone even attempt to do a conscious count of how many mega skyscrapers here from each country? I would have to take a 2nd look to do that. But straight off my impression is that China seems to have the most skyscrapers either completed or still under construction, followed by Dubai. And none of the countries in Europe has one here. As a continent count, it's obvious that Asia has the most, but the earliest skyscraper that still make a presence here comes from North America, USA.

Great video, Very Much Enjoyed, I live a few blocks from 1 World Trade Center, You should consider updating the photos, The Tower is almost to the top, Also construction began at 432 park avenue, This Tower will be around 1,400 ft to the roof, some feet taller than the Trade Center's 1,368 ft' roof, ( minus the antenna) Once again great vid especially in HD.

All the major architectural firms around the world are setting up shop in China because their government gives generous grants for the creation of world class infrastructure. In contrast to the cash strapped Western world, China is a much more attractive option.

This video shows the complete and under construction skyscrapers over 400 m. Not including on hold, cancelled, vision, and demolished. Their spires (not antennas) are counted as their height. So, Empire State, WTC Twin Towers, The Shard, Chicago Spire, and so on won't shown in this video.
