Third installment of my skyscraper video featuring the tallest buildings in the world, completed and under construction.
Height criteria from CTBUH's first method.
I eventually decided against adopting the Sears Tower's revised name, "Willis Tower". Personal preference.

@FlashMaster659 No idea yet. I was thinking about how i could one-up myself with this. There isn't anything that comes to mind, aside from really excessive changes like e.g. 3D representations, which would be near impossible without clean blueprints.
What's really fortunate though is that UA-cam now allows 15 minute videos, so i have room to add a few supertalls in the future.

Around the time i made the video, skyscraper enthusiast estimated that with changed height rules, 818m would no longer be correct. In the end, they were 4 meters off, if we can trust Emaar's numbers.
But you're right, 818m and as of Jan. 2010 828m are the two numbers circulating.

I love this video, the slideshow is perfectly in sync with the background music. Wondering if got any update or new upload for 2016 or perhaps 2017 versions.
I used the most common height measurement which is CTBUH's first method. It counts spires as structural height, but not antennas. The ESB's tip falls into the latter category, and so does the Willis Tower's. The other buildings you mentioned are not under construction and have a doubtful future.
@mehrshadvr4 the architects have the design of a tower with the same height of the WTC but with a total height of 541M (1776ft) and in 1776 was the decleration of independence of the united states of america. The freedom tower will be the deepest, symbolic tower of the world and new york forever.

True. There are many skyscraper videos around with different styles (techno, pop, flashy, slow) and since most viewers only come here once, my intention was simply to "update" it, without reinventing it. For someone who's seen the 2009 one a lot, it would seem somewhat repetitive, can't help it.
@nartin86 Bullshit. These are all being built. The only building in the video that is still at ground level is Shanghai Tower because of its enormous foundation. 1WTC is over 300 feet tall already, hardly "basement level"; And of course it will get built.
Most sources still say 516m, it's hard to say with Dubai contractors and their damn secrecy.
According to Emaar, the Burj Dubai is "700m+" so without people counting the levels and a supposed information leak, we would still be in the dark about that.
This video is about habitable buildings, which is a completely different technical challenge. Towers are a category of their own.
The CN Tower was completed in 1976, and i happen to have been on it, so don't presume ignorance.
@Kaorankun This video focuses on habitable structures only. Towers, Chimneys, Masts, and such are not included.
And you're right, the Skytree should be the tallest in Japan by now at over 450m.
@BlazinNSoul You have been misinformed. Aside from the Incheon Tower, for which groundwork has still not commenced, all mentioned buildings have either not been approved or were canceled again.
Hi, i did not include any towers in the video, only classic "house" type of buildings. There are many towers that would have made it into this video by their height.
Thanks, i decided to take it out due to its rather uncertain future. Who knows, maybe if the market recovers it has a better chance, though Chicago seems to be oversaturated.

They're from different people at Flickr, the guys at SSC usually post photos that are too low-res for this purpose.

I think Skyscrapers 2011 is coming:P But maybe you can include the proposed towers...
Skyscraper is cool but is it safe? imagine if there are fire at the bottom? where would the people evacuate? and in time? What if the building fall? the effect around the building? you have seen it in 9/11! There got to be a better solution! like a hanging garden of buildings.
There are also shadow problem. Skyscrapers doesn't have reflectors to compensate for taking away the sunlight for those who are unfortunate to be in their shadow. But the shade could be a good thing in summer.

I love architecture & if got a dream to live some day in manhattan. but america's designs of the future of 5 years aren't the designs you should expected for such a great country. China got the designs of the future . especialy the future of shanghai .
americans don't rebuild the World trade center but replace it with a kinda sucking design called 1 wtc ( Freedom tower ) they dont build the chigago spire ;( .

As it stands right now the new Freedom Tower in NYC will bairly make the top 10. The Chicago spire will will top that which will finish late 2010 being tallest in North America. Although by the end of this year both will likely fall out of the top 10. The current top ten are as follows. 1 Burj Dubai 2. Tower of Russia (2010) 3. Incheon Tower Soul South Korea (2010) 4. Chicago Spire (2010) 5. The Port Tower Karachi Pakistan (2010) 6. Jakarta Tower Indonesia Late 2010-11. Cont.
It's a pipe dream for now, i don't include visions, proposals, or buildings that aren't under construction.
Those Chinese are building skyscrapers like crazy, not shown in this video are dozens of medium to very tall skyscrapers and highrises being built across china. They are really having an economic boom right now, with high speed trains being built, and massive super highways to connect chinese cities. No wonder their economy is exploding.
@Arurnal Yes, if you had been to Europe, you'd realise though they have tall skyscrapers, they really don;t have any mega skyscrapers as seen here. Well I was in Europe in 2009 and didn't see any mega ones. Most mega skyscrapers construction tend to be concentrated in East Asia (Japan, China,HK,S Korea) and Dubai.

Check it out because the regular one has ugly parts in it and Adrian only put the pretty part of the song in this video. I remixed and extended it using only the beautiful parts. bahaha I forgot my SSC password and i kinda fell out of skyscrapers for a while there. HiAdrian, is there any new proposals comming out now that it looks like the world economly is comming back into shape? and have any of the canceled buildings like the Russia Tower (Башня Россия) been reconsidered for construction?
There are less buildings in this video because Burj Al Alam, Chicago Spire, and Russia Tower were removed. By the way, Trump International Tower was finished in 2009 and he forgot to put to this video. My correction, the Abraj Al Bait is the name of the complex. It should be Mecca Royal Clock Tower.
I like the asia & of course the towers in the united states :D . The shangai tower is one of the most beautiful towers . But i Like the freedom tower to ( Because i love new york ) , What i dont like is the burj dubai , Its to ugly 4 words !
I have been on the roof of the Two International Finace Center, the top of the Jin Mao Tower, and Sears Tower!!! Also can't wait until the Freedom tower opens in New York, and hope we have more luck than the WTC buildings had. GOOD VIDEO!!!

Wait a minute. How the heck did you post this in 2009, this is the 2010 tallest buildings... Or at least that is was the title says. And the statistics says this was posted in 2009.
@HiAdrian put the the u.s bank tower from L.A it has 75 floors 1180 and its CA tallest bulding and compleatshon 1989 if you sayits not a tall bulding what about ifc it has 88 floors
the guangzhou tower is a not an actual traditional building so it is not included. lots of towers can get into the rank just by their height but hiadrian doesnt couint them in.
Damn the world is sure urbanizing. It's going to be like star wars with our worlds cities. I wish i could live longer to see mega-cities constructed all around the planet.

The Empire State buildings has my vote, I mean it was built so long ago and it still stands the test of time, and I'm not even American. Give credit where credit is due.

I love skyscrapers. But it stinks that America doesn't have the tallest building in the world now. Half the buildings don't have a good design they look horrible!

skyscraper is a staircase between earth and heaven. the taller you are the closer to heaven. (seems like china has the most skyscraper in the world!)
