    My only complaint about this video is that it is not an hour long. Wonderful visuals, stunning work. No idea why some people hit dislike on this one.

    How comes random videos of people eating junk food get millions of views, but videos such as this that take a long time to do and is about history, barely gets noticed. I don't understand

    4:30 - Good explanation for the origin of the Karst topography, although I'd also add that there seems to be a distinct connection between the cenotes as they exist now and the impact ring formed by the Chixulub impact event that is believed to have killed the non-avian dinosaurs some 66 million years ago.

    Dom I totally agree that this is the safest type of dive you can do. Without having the cave roof the risk of objects falling from the sky is too high. Migration downwards, like the hair, is the only way to go. Legend

    I’m in love with center diving, especially free diving. I am very interested in what may be found as they are sink holes that were once dry. Looking for things like Black Jacks pirate ship the supposedly carried the Nights of Templar and the Holy Grail. It’s so amazing that there is a entire world beneath us and 13,000 year old bones down there! There was a civilization before us! Not aliens just able to hold their breath for long times when the ocean took her land back!

    Seems quite probable that if cenotes were empty of water in the last big ice age, that a lack of fresh water would have been a problem in the mini ice age starting in 900AD.

    Just to be clear caverns have lots of ambient light and many places where you can, in fact, look out of the surface directly. It’s kind of cool to look up through the holes and see the trees in the jungle. On the other hand caves have no ambient, light and divers must be trained to a much greater level to be able to “safely” dive a cave. It’s pretty serious stuff and many of the best in the world never made it out alive. I’ve been lucky enough to dive Cote’s and they are a fantastic experience.

      I went years ago when I was a kid I jumped off the famous jump and went 10ft underwater so fast it’s fresh water so you sink much much faster, have to be a strong swimmer but most people can swim in it no problem, even my parents swam in it they were fine lol you just gotta kick harder and swim faster . Never dove before though

    If they were sacrificing people like they make it sound. There would be thousands of bones. Scientists have discredited that. The Spanish church is the one fueling those old beliefs.

    • @Marinaaduran
      @Marinaaduran 8 місяців тому +1

      Yea they definitely sacrificed people, virgin girls in the cenotes, mainly, animals as well. And yes they have found bones. Of course the tourist cenotes have been cleaned out of their bones. Some cenotes are so deep you can't see the bottom, so no need to pull bones no one can see. The Mayans will tell you. You dont need to ask anyone else. Death was not feared, it was welcomed. It was transcendence. It was a rite of passage.

      Those were discovered before this video was made. Of course it has already been cleared out. There is a lot of evidence for their history including their traditions. You can't defend them just by mere opinions.

    are you cave certified? just a warning to people that cave diving is really dangerous and you should probably get proper certification before you attempt going deep into a cave. looks beautiful though and you got some wonderful footage

    Foreign should not be allowed to own land at Mexico, especially when comes to places like this. Instead you should just help locals and respect the culture, it’s not yours, you all are just visitors

    • @aintnohighenough
      @aintnohighenough 4 місяці тому

      Stop being dramatic. There's a difference between exploration and just mere destruction. It's not like they did not support the locals. By opening this to the public they actually helped the locals. There are also regulations and I bet there have been rules to follow in every place such as these. If a foreign person becomes destructive in a way I'm sure there are laws which apply. You don't need to be dramatic.

    Those massive stone structures were not built by the Mayans; rather, they were the beneficiaries of the Megalithic builders. The Mayans added, willy-nilly, stone structures on top of the Megaliths.
