It's sad that so many people have only really heard Black Hole Sun and Spoonman, those songs weren't even a good representation of their best songs or albums. I loved Chris' voice and his vocal range was amazing, definitely my favorite band and favorite singer of all time.
I've never watched your channel before but I saw the thumbnail with your pretty pastels and said I have to see this reaction to one of the grungiest songs ever! It's one of my favorite songs and I'm a woman, but I understand it's not for everyone. I like to dance to this, clean, work outside in my yard and even paint and draw to it. It makes me feel strong, powerful, healthy and alive. I can do some much more work in so much shorter of a time when I listen to the harder Soundgarden music.
2017 was a rough year. We lost many great rock artists: Chris Cornell, Tom Petty, Malcom Young-ACDC, Walter Becker-Steely Dan, Greg Allman & Butch Trucks-Allman Brothers, Chester Bennington-Linkin Park, J. Geils and John Wetton-Asia/King CrimsonUriah Heep RIP ✌️☮️💯🔥🇺🇸🎼🎸🎵🎶🎤❤️
This song came out in 1988 when Chris was around 24, and you should really check out the 1990 live version from Germany when Chris was 26 to get an accurate account of what his voice was like when he recorded this. Chris is 51 or 52 here, and unfortunately the voice deepens and loses elasticity with age. Much like watching Tom Brady play football in 2003 in his prime, and watching him in 2022 in his decline. We are only young once
He had a totally recondition or redo his voice from when he sang with Audioslave because he didn’t sing like this with them, and then when he went back to Soundgarden, he went back to the way he used to sing, which is the only way that I love Chris Cornell really unless it’s his solo stuff.
First time with you and new subscriber. This song is so dark it emanates pain. Unfortunately my sister saw them live here in Detroit for the last time...That can be taken either way.
Aww you should watch the 1990 version! his younger voice and versatility was something to behold with THIS song.... yet here as basically an "old man".... he is still killing it. This song was sort of unique even compared to a lot of their other stuff. All their songs dont fit into the same mold, and the not being able to "understand all the words ", is a little bit by design, as Chris is really stretching out and blending the syllables... to give the song its vocal effect. Check out more of his songs ! dont judge Chris Cornell by this one song. not at all !
Dude got pipes I mean this is Chris Cornell we speak off!!!! I get this not being your taste in music but Chris is a talented vocalist artist and lyricist he is extremely versatile and one of the greatest voices ever in rock and roll you may enjoy some of his solo work a little more which is much softer than this but still extremely amazing
You'd probably enjoy Superunknown/Down on the Upside the most if this era aint your style. His first solo record, Euphoria Mourning is incredible too, very different.
The 'not able to understand' was a characteristic of grunge music so don't worry. Watch his version of Nothing compares to U, the XFM radio or whatever, you'll enjoy that more
Far beyond the road Between your house and home There is a churning storm Of hailing burning bones Tiny baby cries Little, tiny pawn In the profit gain Tiny baby grows Mother, who's your man Is he doing what he can To make a proper home, home By overturning other stones, stones Father, mighty man Loves his little boys, boys Shows them how to kill To save his precious stones, stones Far beyond the wheel Spin your life around By driving flesh and blood Deep into the ground, ground Far beyond the wheel Steers life around By driving flesh and blood, blood Deep into the ground, ground
You should check out his duet with Eddy Vedder from Pearl Jam , Hunger Strike you would appreciate his voice a little more . Oh yeah and this drummer can't think of his name is the current drummer in Pearl Jam👍✌️💜
I think you don't like harder stuff so if you react to Soundgarden or Chris Cornell you should watch Outshined, loud love , searching with my good eye closed or Chris solo stuff like seasons, sunshower or when I'm down
I love Soundgarden, but i agree with Maddy here. This is a good song but not their best work in my opinion. When I want to lead my Dark Army of the Night into battle, I'll play this. Otherwise, "Searching With My Good Eye Closed" is my favorite. My 85 year old Mom never really cared much for my music, BUT SHE LOVES THIS!
Your reaction makes me a bit sad. You shouldnt really relegate Chris Cornell to the category of 'Dude Rock without giving his body of work at least a look over. The song you reacted to was written when he was much younger, but the performance was when he was much older. The song means more to people who were already old fans of Sound Garden. Cornell as a singer was nominated for 18 Grammy awards and won 3, Wrote and sang sound tracks for a few movies like James Bond, the Avengers I believe, and others. His music varies so much and he has even covered Michael Jackson. You kind of had bad luck by picking this song for your first Sound garden reaction. It's not representative of most of their songs as THEY evolved a bit and so did Chris Cornell over decades of performing. '
Wrong version. There's a better version that just peels the paint off the walls. This is good but the earlier live version is so much better. "Dude rock" This is Metal.
@@helmetpig1986 Listen to the much earlier version and your ears will tell you. Not slagging this version, but it's almost night and day. Cornell is possessed voice wise in the much earlier version and it's heavier, noisier and just make's the paint peel off the walls.
@lawrencefine5020 I know both versions from the inside out. The 2010 version is much better in my opinion, vocals wise and playing wise. No such thing as wrong in music. But I've just noticed the flag in your profile so I can understand why like to point out why other people are wrong. Good day to you rape advocate 😀
Thanks!

This is always going to hurt but I'm never going to stop listening.
Sound gardens music was always mysteriously haunting.

Oooh!! Great insight ✨🩷
1:57 even the security person turns around like "dude wtf was that?"
Chris was a beautiful human! So dang talented...
Great Soundgarden..i love "Black Hole Sun"...beautiful song

Wow you're right! Lots of talent there. Cornell, Petty, Young, Becker, Allman and Wetton are even legend status!
Yeah that was very sad. I have been a fan of most of the those bands for years.
You forgot Warrel Dane...How dare you!!
I’m not a dude and I love this, there’s a lot of songs that the words are hard to understand. You can easily find the lyrics on line.
This is such an obscure track for your intro to Soundgarden XD

You reacted to Audioslave a while back, its the same singer, Chris Cornell. Please go down this rabbit hole, trust me. Check out his solo stuff aswell

Kim Thayil is a beast!!!
My favorite guitar player of all time!!!
@christhayil8354 Mine too.
Dude rock! Lol. That is a fun expression to describe it. But it is cool. I think i can understand the idea of the label. It does have its logic.
You'd probably enjoy Superunknown/Down on the Upside the most if this era aint your style. His first solo record, Euphoria Mourning is incredible too, very different.
Beautiful Maddy.
Soundgarden is interesting.
The 'not able to understand' was a characteristic of grunge music so don't worry. Watch his version of Nothing compares to U, the XFM radio or whatever, you'll enjoy that more
Far beyond the road
Between your house and home
There is a churning storm
Of hailing burning bones
Tiny baby cries
Little, tiny pawn
In the profit gain
Tiny baby grows
Mother, who's your man
Is he doing what he can
To make a proper home, home
By overturning other stones, stones
Father, mighty man
Loves his little boys, boys
Shows them how to kill
To save his precious stones, stones
Far beyond the wheel
Spin your life around
By driving flesh and blood
Deep into the ground, ground
Far beyond the wheel
Steers life around
By driving flesh and blood, blood
Deep into the ground, ground
Jack White on SNL 2020... Great performance!
Church? What church are u going too?😂🤣😂🤣
Pews? Would have 2b catholic.
Christians will only sit in a well padded stylishly patterned chair.😂
church of rock:D
heavy ressurection

Shit girl that man right there is the best to ever do it 🖤
Do a reaction to lateralus by TOOL. Please. Literally the best last 2 minutes of a song ever.

His favorite singer was Jeff Buckley.
I can see how this could sound great with production etc. I just never caught the groovey groove.😊

This is Metal.
I always felt early Soundgarden from Ultramega Ok, Louder Than Love and Badmotorfinger were the best examples of the Grunge Sound.
Wrong version? Why?

@@yang-it-yin7002 I'm not much for labels. but I'd sooner call this Metal, not Grunge. It's just too heavy.

Wrong version. 1990. Also, just not a great song. And I’m a huge SG fan!
