In today's Vlog I will show you how to install large format tile over your shower floor. For this to happen you will need to learn how to do relief cuts on your tile to allow for it to follow the pitch of our GURU Shower system.
The shower system that you see in the background is a GURU Shower system. When you buy a kit, it comes with a linear drain of your choice! The quality of the system is on par with your top shower system such as Schluter shower system, laticrete shower system, KBRS Shower system.

I have 3x5 pan but the drain is off-center as well as to the far side of the pan. Would I still want to run the x cut off the drain in line with the drain as this would not reach the actual corner of the pan. OR would I flare the x off the drain out to reach the corner of my pan? THANK YOU for all Your knowledge & Tips!!! You are a HUGE Help!!!

Be very careful when using a grinder on something you are holding in your hand. It can grab that tile and yank it out of your hand with ease. Tile, especially cut or broken tile, can be razor sharp, and it can do serious damage to you or someone else around you if it gets thrown out of your hand by the grinder. I've seen broken tile cut through leather like it was nothing.

Do you set the tile directly on top of the edge of the linar drain when thinsetting into place? Great presentation!

Will large format tiles crack easier than small mosaics?

It's easy to use LG format if you're using a end long drain in the front of the shower

Usually when people talk about honed, it's with natural stone, usually when you talk about shower pan material, people matte finish oh, I know what you're saying though

Would that drain work with like a thin penny round for example? Hard to tell how thick that drain is but seems like it would be hard to flush out with a tile that requires much less thinset.

I do think the very little tiles that would be hard. I would use the drain that you can tile over instead.

That's where a real mud Job Would come in. Then you can get it to the exact height you want

@@BonBon770 yeah but with this system it looks like you would be unable to do that because the clamping ring from the drain has to sit on top of the membrane. The drain isn't getting embedded in the mud like a traditional system.

@@ryangunderson5064 precisely, this is one of the downfalls to linear drain and non-traditional in-and-out systems, ie, foam shower pans and or membrane material on a pan ......it's one of the pros to a traditional in-and-out system with a pre slope and a 40 mil vinyl liner and a correct post slope. Different job sometimes call for different applications, nonetheless, interesting. Have a great day

That’s definitely not how you do slops for linear drains mate. You’ve got the side completely wrong.
