      Been quite the while good to see you again, I say this because I usually miss your streams 😀, anyhow I always liked the first dead to rights, dead to rights reckoning had funny ragdoll physics on the psp, many a night was spent messing around in that game and Retribution was my brothers favorite damn shame they stopped making more.

      I'd play a well-made remake or reboot of the first Dead to Rights especially if they do what Retribution did and give us sections where we play as Shadow as Jack's Alaskan Malamute/Timber Wolf Hybrid K9 partner is a series icon as much as Jack.

      This one right here gets it. F.E.A.R. is a masterpiece (Best shooter ever made alongside DOOM Eternal imo) and it's expansions Extraction Point and Persues Mandate are also awesome. 2 is horrendous and I hate that game, it's at best an okay competentish shooter but it's an awful sequel and isn't worthy of the F.E.A.R. name. I haven't really played F.E.A.R. 3 outside of the first level but what I played of it wasn't very impressive to say the least.

  • @samz8691
    @samz8691 Місяць тому +34

    if I recall, the original Dead to Rights 2 by the original devs was cancelled and the assets given to different developers to make 2 and Reckoning which is why they share alot of assets, Jack even has his scar he gets mid-way through the first game due to that as it was intended as a sequel with Jack becoming a punisher-like figure fighting crime.
    I only played the PS2 version of 1 but I do think if you're making a game easier with a port then the old difficulty should usually be an option.
    Doom 3 BFG suffers from making the game WAY easier to the point of completely removing any need to look for secrets

      Actually, this is somewhat false. The team at Namco Hometek was actually working on an "Escape from New York" game, but it wasn't built on this game. The game was separate from this. It was supposed to have the same gameplay engine and the graphics engine, but "Dead to Rights" was likely supposed to be what it was all along. Look up Unseen64's post about "Snake Plissken's Escape." You will get more detail on that cancelled game.

  • @SJthehero27
    @SJthehero27 Місяць тому +2

    I grew up with my older brother and he even got me into video games to begin with. I still remember him playing the first Dead to Rights and watching him as he did most of the early game.
    I eventually played the whole game myself a few years back VIA Xbox Backwards compatibility, and I was pleasantly surprised (and incredibly frustrated) at times while playing. It really is an awesome and often overlooked gem of a game! From what I’ve seen over the years and here in the sequels, it seemed I wasn’t missing out on much over time. I always knew they existed growing up too, but stores in my area never had these and other games I was interested in.
    I actually rented Retribution from a Red Box (R.I.P) (may have bought it cheap at a pay n trade though, I forgot) back in high school and was genuinely surprised with it. I thought it was pretty fun and enjoyed my time with it, but I can easily see what you meant with it being a rental one-and-done kind of game.
    It’s a shame that studio went under after it, they also made the Reservoir Dogs game, which I actually thought was a fun and unique game with having the option to be non lethal as a professional or just going crazy taking everyone down.
    It was great to hear another person’s thoughts on this series! It is obvious how Namco really had no idea what to do with it; at the least we still have a fun and memorable action game from the magical gaming years of the early to mid 2000’s.

    I absolutely loved the first Dead to Rights! That intro cutscene in the library, when Jack took on all the terrorist solo, then got into a 1v1 with the boss, and managed to disarm the bombs with 3/100ths of a second left! That shit got me so hype as a kid. I highly recommend watching it if you've never seen it before. All the action in the cutscene shows what you can do in the game.
    And I loved the disarm system. I thought they looked cool AF and made you feel like a complete badass. If I remember correctly, each weapon had 4 variations of disarm, one for each directional input. I couldn't wait until I came across a new weapon just to see all the disarm animations. I enjoyed every second of the first game.

    First of all, good to see another upload from you man!
    Second, over 10 years ago now I got a copy of Dead to Rights at a Toys R Us. They were clearing out some of their GBA inventory and I scooped a few games for very cheap, I played through the whole game and thought it was quite decent (I was a child). It took me over 2 years to consider that maybe I should look up if it had any other sequels, and that's when I discovered the console versions of the original game. When I saw how flashy and stylish the gameplay was compared to the watered down GBA port, I felt so cheated lmao.
    Cheers man, great video, hope you keep it up.

I honestly don't remember and I don't really have much memories of this game other than the fact that I played it. In your Splinter Cell review when you shown footage and called it by name my reactions was "I know this game and I don't remember this scene.". I thought this video was very interesting since I've never even heard of this franchise until this video and I have to agree with you on this it really was just a hidden gem on the seventh generation of consoles that forcibly got turned into a whole franchise against its will hopefully this series will see a new entry someday that harkens back to its roots while still feeling like a much more modern game than its contemporaries to stand up with the video game industries much more higher standards in other words if Max Payne can go years without a new entry and come up with a fantastic finale so can dead to rights.

    Picked up the first game at a convention recently, and from what I’ve played so far it’s pretty fun in it’s stupidity

    I was watching a video where you made a comment about Johnny Depp being a weatherman, and I realized that you had 150k subs, so I clicked on the channel, and if I was only 3 hours earlier, I would’ve thought you had completely stopped posting a year ago

    For the longest time, I've been looking for a game where you're limited on ammo and have to constantly pick up weapons, this seems close enough.
    Having plenty of ammo is fine, but it kinda makes games too easy sometimes?
    It's kinda hard to explain but I like having to quickly adapt to whatever weapon I can find, whereas in most games you can just pick something up off the ground and you have enough ammo to wipe out the population of a small country so you never have to use anything else.
    Kinda sucks that the only one that looks like it's worth playing is the first one, hopefully I can find another game like it...

      It was a promotion, you could get them at Burger King, I think you could just flat out ask to buy one and you could. They don't seem very good, I saw Sneak King played on one of the Giant Bomb's Unprofessional Fridays streams from back before all their members got replaced by cardboard. Jeff Gerstmann owns like 5 copies last I checked.

    I first heard of Dead to Rights through a thrift store I visit semi-frequently, which had a copy of the second game on Xbox. When I got home, I decided to do research, and I bought what I *thought* was the game that I had saw at that thrift store on Amazon for the PS2, only to find out I had bought the first game, instead.
    The first game is great. Though I tried replaying it on Super Cop and I just am not feeling the prison level at all. It's a chore even in it's cut down form on PS2 and Gamecube.
    I'd like to give the rest of the games a try. Probably except Retribution. That one looks insanely boring to me.

    You produce quality content, frequency be damned. Human beings have creative peaks and troughs and the world hasn't been a kind or gentle place lately, so the interruptions are to be expected. Thank you as always.

    I loved the first game and I even enjoyed Retribution but I never got to give 2 an honest try because for some bizarre reason it wouldn't save to my memory card but I think its for the best after watching this

    The original Dead to Rights always fell in the same camp as Kill Switch (anyone else remember that game?) Games put out by Namco that had their own aesthetic going on. Not great games by any means, but interesting enough for the time. I always preferred Kill Switch, admittedly.
