Seen some Vai stuff recently and it didn't seem (to my ears) to really be on par with accuracy on the faster runs and technique compared to a while back....but this is back to the good stuff...thanks for posting! Also, just before I get annihilated, I'm not criticising Vai...he's not my favourite artist (top5 maybe), but he is a hell of a player and composer and I'm unfairly comparing him to himself from some truly great playing he's done. Same can be said for Paul Gilbert and Eric Johnson...go back 8months and they didn't quite seem (again to me) to be as "on it"...but recently they are playing really really well...Father Time not robbing us of some fantastic playing just yet...
Steve Vai wasn't into SRV. Vai isn't into the blues all that much. As a matter of fact, he's a jazz man. With that said, Vai is into Alan Holdsworth. However, you'll hear elements of Hendrix's influence. SRV isn't in the conversation when it comes to Vai.
@aaronsinger I got news for you, Vai is a jazz man. His hero is Allan Holdsworth, and he spent a life time copping a feel from his techniques, Holdsworth is Vai's biggest influence. And Vai admits he's not good at playing the blues. Watch Joe Bonamassa's Nerdville interview with Steve Vai. A lot of what you're saying is inaccurate.
I love it when he gives some space for the song to breathe. Makes it so much more dynamic
OMG ... Steve is tearing it up....
Incredible artistry and skill. Steven Vai and his guitar are basically the same person.
Yep - I used to say the same about Jeff Beck *may he rest in peace). Steve's axe is part of his being for sure!
After watching Slash's playing, I instantly realized that this man is absolutely in another level
As a music lover I think you should watch
Alip ba ta, a gutarist from indonesia.
Imho you will enjoy every second of his job
thanks for sharing !
Never shall I understand why this song has 'tender' in its name
