Hey Damian. Just wanted to ask, for your fretless videos, do you use roundwounds or flatwounds?
@@pat8437 sorry for long wait for a reply, I never received a notification. I use round wound strings always.
@@DamianCoccio all good, I understand technology can be faulty, and I appreciate that you still replied. Thank you. Seeing as you use roundwounds, how do you avoid damaging the fingerboardv
Pat, the fingerboard is high quality ebony which is very hard, so no issue there.
It is absolutely lovely - great album
The world needs more ambient bass!
Hugh Caldwell I agree!
Or guitar... like Ed O'brien (Radiohead)
Does it?🤔....it does!!
@@rgc7263 guitar?😶
@@rgc7263 No thanks, guitarists have to deal with their egos first. More bass please
Да.Как нам,слушателям повезло,что ваше сердце и душа,умеет так петь.
It strikes the right frequencies that resonate in my brains. Beautiful
Thanks for putting your effects used in the description. I've been playing fretless for a year now and I've always wondered what effects are being used and how. Respect
You are welcome, best wishes on your fretless journey.
I don't usually post comments but I really can't resist the urge to tell you how beautiful your music is!!!

Thank you, I appreciate it.
I´ve been playing Bass for over 30 years now......what a shame for myself that i grabbed my very first own Fretless a short while ago...... so much more Space for Expression.
And not to forget: your Pieces are wonderful!
Thank you !
Just starting to get into solo and ambient bass after a lifetime in bands keep inspiring man.
Why does this channel only have 11k subs!?
Upload your songs on spotify!
Fermín Martinez there should be 8 albums uploaded to Spotify so far, please enjoy! Th9s one will eventually make it there.
Beyond beautiful. ...!
Norm G Thank you very much!
Another beautiful piece! That tone is so hauntingly liquid!
adlibmusic thank you very much!
Gorgeous! I love the fretless sound and the way you bring it into ambient music is amazing. I want you to know that you alone, are the reason I just bought a fretless bass. I've played guitar my whole life and never cared about bass until I heard your playing. Thank you for your inspiration! God bless you!
Thank you! So glad the music resonates with you. Best wishes on your musical journey.
I gotta make one of those little pillow riser dealies. I usually play sitting on the edge of the bed or on the floor and one leg always ends up curled under me, twisting my hips and back and throwing my shoulders off.
TerriblePeril they definitely help to get the instrument in a better position.
Damian Coccio any tips on getting/making one?
Damian Coccio - Where did you purchase the pillow to rest said Fodera from?
MangoMan33 found some dense foam that should do the trick once wrapped and stitched.
Thank you as always Damian. Very peaceful indeed. I run out of words to describe how much I enjoy your music.
Eric Brewington thank you my friend.
so powerful
Emilus Fiogbe Thank you. I am so glad it resonated with you.
So serene. An oasis of peace in this turbulent world. Thank you for sharing, Damian!
Joe Gallion you are welcome, thank you!
Thank you for the astral trip! So beautiful!
Thanks, so glad you enjoyed it!
Wow. Just. Wow.
Absolutely floored. I am just starting to play bass and your videos inspire me to want to buy a fretless and take that route. Maybe I could possibly be half as amazing by the time I'm 80. It's not common to hear such emotion from a solo bassist. You're at the top of your class.
Crazy impressed.
matthasaname thank you very much for your comments? I appreciate it.
The sound is outerwordly wow
хеивен книгхт thank you.
It's beautiful where you are taking this instrument ❤
Thank you very much I am glad you enjoyed it.
... This is soooo good and sooo beautiful, again! The interesting thing is...the beginning reminds me of a scene in the movie full metal jacket... I believe it was the scene where Vincent D'onofrio was beaten up at night...it was a very sad moment.
Thank you
Love it! I think I may start getting into ambient music.
Robert Bennett thanks Rob, ambient is super relaxing.
Fantastic 🤗🤗🤗

Because that movie is going to be stunning.
Jon Hallam thank you

This is an amazing place of music. And have gained a new fan.
Thank you very much I really appreciate it.
I’m lost for words, Damian. An amazing and moving experience.
Greetings from Italy!
Alex Villani Thank you very much, so glad you are enjoying the music!
Esto es pura maestría!
Thank you very much!
A bit "darker" than usual but, absolutely excellent as always
Damian !
brian martin thank you much!
GORGEOUS!
I am so mystified by how you were able to achieve the swelling sound of your notes while not hearing the striking of the sting portion.
Are you using magic?
This swell effect is from the Strymon timeline delay pedal. I used custom settings to make sure there was no attack on the note with a long thick swell. So glad you enjoyed it!
Lovely ! No one but you brings so much Heart to a wonderful sounding Bass :>) You got me playing fretless and I Loooooooooove it thank you :>)
humblegeorge thank you, I really appreciate your comments. Glad you enjoying playing fretless!
@@DamianCoccio Yes sir,a year later and Im back to float away once more on your Sea of notes.God Bless you dear person.
Прекрасная музыка .
Алексей Пугач Thank You much
Grande Damiano, chapeau 👏👏👏da dove arriva tutto questo sustain😲, è fantastico, cosa hai utilizzato? 👏👏👏💪🤟
Thank you, that is the sound of the strymon timeline swells.
@@DamianCoccio grazie 👏👏👏👍
Hi, Damian beautiful piece! I’d like to get the pillow? that you’re using and would like to ask where can i get them Thanks a lot and keep up the great work!
Thanks! The playing cushion is made by a company called oasis. I bought it from a distributor called strings by mail.
@@DamianCoccio thanks a ton!
I don’t know how you create the elbow sound before you pick up the elbow. It’s a fabulous sound.
Do you play live solo shows? Sounds beautiful.
Amazing. Could you run me through what effects you’re using and what hardware ?
Thank you,
I am recording into an Apollo x2, and using some reverb and delay effects.
@@DamianCoccio Thanks very much . So the Apollo is the audio interface? And the delay and reverb - are these extra pedals you’ve acquired or is there a more convenient all in one sort of device for effects ? I really want to try out some effects but don’t fancy the idea of buying loads of pedals if there is one pricier piece of kit which sort of does it all ?
Thank you for the response. I’ve just ordered my first fretless and I was fretting badly about wether I made the right choice… but upon hearing your playing - BOOM that’s the exact sounds and style of playing once been hearing in my head! So Thank you very much for sharing your incredible work
Reminds me of Starcraft soundtrack
Hello, I love your music...what is the name of the device you use from minute 3:30?
Thank you, so glad you enjoy the music. That device is called an EBOW.
@@DamianCoccio Thank you!
Always Amazing, Thank You! q: Do you use a standard set of strings w/ the EBow or something custom?
jesse smith thank you! I use light gauge Fodera stainless steel round wound strings always, even with the Ebow.
Damian - are you using Fodera 40100 .040-.100? Thank you I advance :)
Damien,
Excluding the E-bow what killer effects are you using?
✌🏽😎🎸🎶
Stereo delay and reverb with a swell setting in the strymon timeline.
Hi Damian just wanted to ask what bass model etc are you playing on in this video, amazing music, thank you for sharing
Thank you Aida. This is a Monarch Standard Fretless.
@@DamianCoccio thank you so much
that tone is unreal. how do you do that!? do you use any pedals?
Conor Creevy Thank you much. Yes I used two petals on this, the Strymon timeline and the big sky.
@@DamianCoccio oh that explains a lot haha! Big sky is an awesome pedal! Keep the videos coming dude 🤙 appreciate the response 👍
Hi Damian, I've a question for you. I discovered a song the other day, and the bass tone is absolutely lovely. I was wondering if you be able to give me your opinion on what effects would be required to make such a sound... the song is "Radio Africa" by Latin Quarter.
You'll know the part i mean when you hear it. Is it just reverb?
Very keen to hear your thoughts as i immediately thought of you when the question came to me haha.
Muito obrigado pela paz que você me transmitiu :)
Beatutiful solo! Do You use an autoswell or traditional volume pedal for these swells?
Tomasz Grzesik Thank you, that is an Auto swell which is part of a patch in my Strymon timeline.
AS a guitar player, I was researching the ebow out of curiosity when I found your videos. Now I am seriously pondering an ebow and a 6 string bass! Kinda, sorta joking here... Now, fretted or fretless?
Very nice, man!!!... What do you use for reverb / swell?!?... (thousandth person asking, I bet)...
b.a.s.s.p.o.r.n Thank you much, are used the strymon timeline and big sky for this.
@@DamianCoccio Great choice!!!... 👍...
👍👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏👏🎸🎼🎵🎶
Yuri Filippov Thank you
Great job, Damian! Which pedals/effects have you used to get in this crazy wah sound at the beginning with the harmonics?
Silas Machado Souza thank you! I used the Strymon Timeline Delay with a custom setting to get that sound.
@@DamianCoccio got it! Thanks!!
This inspires me to write a similar piece for my mom. Are you using a Strymon Timeline?
Robert Bennett exactly, the timeline has a swell effect. I would love hear what you write for your mom.
@@DamianCoccio thanks Damian. I will be sure to share that piece with you when I write it.
Damian - What is the equipment you are holding with your right hand called?
TheLeftundone that is called the Ebow.
What's that little bass pillow called?
Emma Williams www.stringsbymail.com/oasis-guitar-support-cushion-oh-28-large-15642.html
How good does the ebow works on lower strings?
Not very good, it’s slow to swell and hard to control.
harry potter
Damian, you never dissapoint to deliver
Ethereal thank you, so glad you enjoyed it!
Amazing
Marcello Ghigo Thank you.
