I've always loved the sound of the Pedulla bass. Mark Egan got me turned on to them with his music. This solo that you are playing is gorgeous on many levels. Thanks so much for sharing this.
Once again such a nice tehnique without too many frills or showing off. Main focus is the melody being played and that's what makes your playing stand out from the others. Thank you so much for sharing with us.
@@DamianCoccio I agree. I've been playing for nearly forty years, but I've never been that fast a player, finding my bliss in keeping a solid beat and focusing on a better grasp of melody and harmony. Thanks for sharing, you are fast becoming one of my favorite bassists to listen to, and I wouldn't be surprised to find myself being influenced by your work. You are awesome, sir.
@@DamianCoccio No, thank you, sir, for inspiring me to find the personal courage - and invest the basic funds (Boss looper) - to set out on my own, creating my own simple compositions that focus on melody, harmony, and rhythm. Question: is Michael Manring an influence, tonally? You and him are both influencing me especially in that area.
You know this is such a deceptively simple piece. I bet this is one that makes you proud. You make that bass sing like an old horn player from Harlem or New Orleans.
Nicely done it’s about time somebody played the bass with some originality and not a copycat of Jaco Pastorius or Stanley Clarke thank you keep up the good work
Hi to all! I transcribed Alone on a rock. Here is the link for the PDF file (It is possible to use a 4 string bass): www.dropbox.com/s/t804h5ed9nn9ros/Alone%20on%20a%20rock%20%28Damian%20Coccio%29%20-%20Fretless%20bass.pdf?dl=0
Hi, i'm from indonesia. I just found this chanel about 1 month ago. I love all your video. Listening to this song is like listening to a classical guitar solo or classical piano solo. This makes me feel relaxed.
They are great sounding basses with incredible sustain for producing a singing sustain in the melody lines like no other fretless! I wish they worked better for me ergonomically and the company was easier to work with. The neck is too thin for my hands and causes cramping and the overall comfort and balance is seriously lacking. I was forced to sell mine due to those issues. The luthier has no interest in accommodating any form of customization for any price. I have found Fbass and Fodera (great companies) very accommodating in this regard and a very special custom 5 string fretless is being built for me to address those issues.
@@DamianCoccio I had a similar experience with my fretless Pentabuzz, it was really hard letting it go the tone was magical. I'm assuming you had difficult experience letting yours go too... thanx for the song in video it's very comforting, soothing, heavenly.... just purchased it on iTunes
Charles Lambiase the best sounding fretless to me. Its expensive though. Check out Ibanez srh 500 séries it sounds really Nice for its price range. Cheers!
Charles Lambiase what amps you are connected When playing fretless???? U are incredibly amazing Bass player . with passion For perfection and I like it Very much sounds ???? Larger than life.
@@jozefilzyk1625 Sorry I missed your comment, thank you! I record direct with no amp. Please note: I do not recommend or endorse Pedulla basses, I only owned this bass for a few weeks before selling it.
My first wonderfull fretless is up to arrive! Will surely try to get some learnin from Your solos, never played fretless before. Bass playing is wonderfull (17 years with my 4 strings) but fretless It's completely another world!
Excellent, congratulations! Fretless is amazing and IMO a more organic experience to play. Can be very meditative and overall it improved my listening with pitch being critical. Enjoy!
one thing I am about it sound I am forever doing the best I can making sure that my instruments are a complete extension of what I feel and hear very well done
After some browsing of bass solos I found you, man you really make me want to pick up a fretless! Of course this is right after I just got done repairing my own yamaha 5 string trbx505 lol. Keep up the good work man!

Beautiful! Damian, you have very accurate intonation (not so easy to do) and you have created a beautiful composition. Many compliments for your spotless execution of this piece!
Pentabuzz basses have a real nice tone and your composition is great. I had Mike Tobias make me an E-C fretless a few years ago and that would rank as one of the best I've played. Mind you, your Fodera is an awesome bass too. We welcome more fretless tunes Maestro Damian!
Thank you Dave, more fretless tunes on the way! Fretlesses are interesting beasts, and Im learning more every time I try a different one. Pedulla has something special going on for sure but I do not recommend or endorse Pedulla basses, I only owned this bass for a few weeks before selling it. I have a ton of design ideas for a custom fretless and someday I may get that going.
