Thank you so much to each of you for generously sharing this information. The world needs to hear this and it was really helpful to see medical practitioners pioneering the integration between trauma, the body and the mind and helping their patients heal and integrate from sexual trauma.
I am a veteran with PTSD resulting from military sexual trauma in 2003 to 2004. I have been hospitalized several times and have had one serious suicide attempt. Through lots of inner work I'm to a place where I'm no longer taking medication as I feel like it only made the problem worse. I'm trying to move on with my life. I will be graduating with a bachelor of science in psychology in December and plan to help other veterans like myself. However I'm not all the way healed and I am interested in alternative forms of healing. More specifically ayahuasca and or other psychedelic treatments all of which I have done extensive research on for the past 2 years. Can your organization please help me to be allowed to have this treatment? To my knowledge my local VA here in Alexandria Louisiana not only does not participate, but would frown upon it even if I were to mention it, as I believe they would see it as drug seeking due to a lack of understanding and education on their part concerning the efficacy of these treatments. Any help that you could provide me even if it's information, would be greatly appreciated.
There’s a very helpful podcast on yt, psychedelics today. Talking from first hand experience and having diverse insights form other forms of altering consciousnesses, psychedelics like any tool can be easily abused. Further there’s an inherent allegory of the cave when depending on anything. I think the best method beyond these medicines is showing and teaching people how to harness their inner heart and courage with full sensory skill sets like: dry fasting, intentional mindful nose breathing of buteyko or dr joe dispenza technique, exploring creativity in any direction, simplifying diet while utilizing ayuverdic and other food/plant therapy, vasoconstriction/vasodilation therapy + full exercise and stretch, and lastly pets to help unlock stuck energy. Improving the flow of blood, brain, oxygen, and companionship are tools that saved my life and countless others .
