You picked a great machine. Congrats. I believe that you are gonna be satisfied. I am now waiting for more riding videos. Take care. Cheers.
Thanks Gregor!
Must feel good Paul, a long awaited moment, I imagine.
I wish you all the joy in the world, pretty sure you made a very good choice! 👍🏼
Thanks very much Value!
Beautiful ride there, Paul! I look forward to your content on this new motorcycle and pray for good health in your endeavors. This South Dakotan in the States salutes you!
Thanks very much Vincent! I love the thought of getting a salute from a South Dakotan! :)
Congratulations Paul, the Chief is a great looking bike and look forward to your review

Very nice indeed Paul! You were very careful in your decision making process and that should pay off for you.
Thanks Jerry, I hope so! Long term ownership will be the true test. ;)
Just found your channel. Been back watching your stuff. You are quite the thinking man - which is great , doing all the homework for us. Congrats on loosing 18 kgs that's huge. Enjoy that beautiful bike, stay safe.
Thanks very much Grantley and welcome aboard!
Slipper-clutch is smoother on 'take-up' and forgiving if you change-down a little-sooner than you should-have , eliminates rear-wheel-grab, safer in the-wet, win-win really . Very Nice Bike , will be heaps of fun . Dave NZ
Thanks Dave!
Congrats Paul. Bike is amazing. Enjoy the new bike. The colour is awesome the exhaust is much better in black
Thanks very much Nick!
Congratulations on the new Indian welcome to the Indian family
Thank you TMD!
Wow. Brand new and out of its crate. You must feel like a little kid again!!!! Congratulations !!!
100% Lab. Very exciting! :)
Congratulations Paul on your new bike, it looks a beauty, and yes it looks like a very well made motorcycle

Thanks Alan!
Boom! I love the way this video started not wasting time, to the point, show off the bike, fantastic. Then right into why you choose this bike, spot on. I hope you enjoy every mile, like most on here I love all motorcycles it’s the one universal machine that the whole world rides in terms of left side or right side drive etc.. Great choice great video from Los Angeles 🍻mate Congratulations I’m going to enjoy the upcoming videos great on you!
Thanks very much for the awesome feedback BroDugg!
Glad you followed your heart!! It is your bike for life now (my guess). Especially based on how excited you were with the “unboxing “! So glad and excited for you. Lots of miles of pleasurable riding ahead for you. And lots of great videos for us to enjoy. 😊
Thanks Paul!
So the Chief DH it is! Didn't expected that after your Sport Chief clip, but what a beauty 🤩 have fun with it!
Thanks Kur! Believe me I went back and forth for a while there but the DH won out in the end.
Yeah man, that colour looks much nicer on your vid, than on the website & photos. Really cool 🖤
My friend, congratulations!
Now is just riding it👌🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks Fernando!
Congratulations Paul - It's a great bike!! I wish you health and happy riding.
Thanks AK!
My local Indian dealership has all three colors in stock for the Chief Dark Horse. This Quartz Grey is growing on me after watching your videos.
Congrats on the new machine Paul. Your comments about the colour reminded me of one of the Victory Cross Country colours. In the showroom lights it was a baby shit green. Looked awful. Under daylight it was a stunning bronze. Looking forward to the review.
Thanks Michael! Very interesting how these modern colours change with different lighting conditions.
Congratulations man. You look happy and I’m very excited for you.
Thanks Richey!
Well Chuft for you Bill, looks absolutely gorgeous, luv it, such a good looker, have a wicked time 😊😊😊😊🇬🇧👍🏻
Thanks very much Gaz, will do!
Colour looks great! I was also quite surprised the first time I saw it in person how much darker it really is compared to pictures!
If your interested in number plate solutions, I got a tail tidy done when I bought mine, makes it looks 10x better! It’s currently at Indian Ballarat after some cluster issues, nothing Jeremy couldn’t figure out after a few visits luckily, so if you’re curious go in and suss it out
Congratulations Paul, best of luck with the new bike
Thanks Niall!
It's definitely a lovely bike!!
Thanks Steven I think so too! :)
Congratulations, you finally have this beauty. Iam a little jealous. It looks absolutely wonderful and this is really a great ride. What smiles you made. Nice to see you are happy and feeling better. It will be exciting to hear more about this ride when the weather permits and how the break-in goes and how it goes after the first service .
Thanks very much Magnus! I just wanted to keep it clean for the first video but believe me, it will be getting dirty now. :)

New bike day... is the best day. One of those rare moments as an adult that makes you feel like a kid on Christmas. Congrats. I am looking at an Indian for my next ride.
100%! Cool, have you narrowed down your choices?
@@BikesILike Not at all, just starting to think of giving the cruiser world a try. I am a big dude, and have not found a bike that I am truly comfortable on for over 2 hour rides. I have a few bikes in the garage, and would have to downsize the fleet to afford an Indian... we will see what happens.
@@CCitis Ok got it! Cheers. I find the Indian frames to be more accommodating to larger riders than Harley frames for instance. I'm talking bikes like the Chieftain/Springfield range. If you're looking for a good size cruiser on a budget, take a look at the Kawasaki Vulcan 900 if you're based in the US. www.kawasaki.com/en-us/motorcycle/vulcan/classic-cruiser/vulcan-900?cm_re=GLOBALNAV-_-PRODUCTGROUPLIST-_-VEHICLE
@@BikesILike Cheers! I really like the Super Chief limited, but am worried it will be tight. Vulcan is a cool bike, but I don't think it would have the power I like. Currently have R1200RS, Triumph Sprint 900, etc... thanks for the content.
@@CCitis No worries! Best bet is to head down to a dealer and just have a sit on a few bikes. Good way to get a feel for size.
Good googley moogkey that is the baddest ass looking bike out there! Perfect size, that color and engine is stunning to me. So happy for you brother!!
Thanks Roger, I agree! But I am biased. :)
Congratulations she's beautiful I love the colour and Ballarat Indian have a great shop.
Thanks Ross! I think so too.
Everything will soften up with use, you just have to break in the bike...
I always had big bikes my self, but now I'm 62, I want something that weighs less, great gas mileage, to be able to travel enough horses to cruise. And most importantly!!! Each time you
service the darn thing, that it would not be too expensive!!
Because when when you calculate the actual cost of the bike out the door, and all the services that need to be done, it gets a little steep at the end, right!?
Yes, a beautiful bike indeed!!
Enjoy it, and safe riding ✌️
Thanks Lefty, will do! Yes these are not inexpensive to own and maintain motorcycles. I will be taking it back to the dealer for servicing but once the warranty expires I will do all my own maintenance work. That should help keep costs down.
Congratulations on the bike! She’s a beauty! I thought you were going for the sport chief , surprised me there.
Thanks FB!
the wind screen is VERY effective at reducing (not eliminating) the wind buffet. i just changed my bars from those stock, to the 5" mid rise. also. the reccomendations for break in aren't required. iv'e been riding mine like i would be every day. and the break in has been just as effective. newer model bikes "learn" how to adjust themselves way better than the older models.
Cool, thanks for the heads up Tex!
Congratulations.Enjoy.
Thanks John!
Now this is a beautiful motorcycle and catches my eye, nice one BIL. When you dismount and walk away from it you will turn your head and check it out, thats when you know you love it😁

Good to see you back on a cruiser! I've upgraded to a Harley since seeing briefly at the vulcan meet up in Ballarat a year or two ago... Test road the Indian chief bobber and there was a lot to love! Think I only went with Harley because for me it was more comfortable and it was a special edition heritage classic that looks like a proper old bike
Your Harley sounds like a sweet ride VTwinDad!
Congratulations on the new bike! I love the color. I have the same windscreen. I experience a huge amount of wind buffering on my helmet. I am 5'8. You might experience the buffering differently since you're taller than me.
Indian offers a flare out version of that windscreen. I am thinking about purchasing that or going in another direction. I saw someone with a Memphis shade road warrior fairing. I love the look of it.
I'm interested to hear what is your next upgrade? Will it be the air intake, exhaust muffler, seat, handlebars, saddlebags, floorboards, and etc.?
Another good video, I look forward to the next one.
Thanks Whitebelt! Very interesting, I did my screen test ride yesterday (video hopefully coming today) and found it wasn't too bad when it came to buffeting. I'm 6'1" which is probably sitting my helmet a little higher into the air stream.
I will check out the Memphis Shade Road Warrior fairing... haven't heard of that one.
Upgrades wise I'm pretty happy. I will look at some slip ons down the track and I wouldn't mind experimenting with the Chief comfort seat or maybe even a Saddlemen step up seat at some point. Handlebars I'm happy with as well as the controls. Might experiment with forwards at some point but I don't the angle of the Chief floorboards.
Congratulations mate, what a great looking bike. Can't wait to see what you think of it and what you do to it. An exhaust would have to be the first mod? Glad you are happy with it 👍
Thanks Tim! Yeah I think it needs a little more noise, exploring options. ;)
Great looking bike! I’m sure you’re happy the day finally came 😎. As for exhaust suggestions, feel free to take a look at the couple videos I have up on mine. Again Congratulations young man 🙌

Thanks Romes, will do!
@@BikesILike I honestly thought I wasn't going to buy the Sport myself. Then I realized it was already in my garage in the form of my Dyna 😊. That side plate is Inconsisted here in the states as well. Not all 50 states allow for the tag to be mounted on the side.
@@romesyoutubechannel5356 Very interesting! Thanks Rome.
The Chief Grey Horse has more 'cool factor' than the Sport model, so I reckon you picked a great motorcycle. Sometimes 'less is best'. I'd definitely relocate that licence plate ... in the standard position you would have to be careful when you swing your leg over the bike or you could end up slicing your boot/moccasin, or worse. The screen looks good, just the right size and shape. I have a preference of floorboards on this style of bike, but I woulldn't call that a dealbreaker, as it's a lovely looking machine. I wonder if Indian offer a floorboard kit, such as what's on the Springfield Dark Horse? Don't forget to put a set of Metzeler Cruisetecs on your shopping list when you replace the original tyres.
Thanks for the tips Jonathon! I can fit the floorboards of the Super Chief Limited. I did try them out on that bike but I still prefer the pegs.
That is a beaut! Nice colour too but your videos make it look like the cream you observed, in some shots. Change the exhaust is all I would do! Oh and remove that front mudguard strip (looks like a protective shipping edging)!! Congratulations nice video and excellently executed. Keep em coming.
Thanks Ricardo! I know! It must be the way the camera sensor picks up the paint in different light, it changes so much!
Yeah I need to get rid of that strip on the front, it cheapens the look. I'm looking at slip ons and I'm liking the Rineharts at the moment. But Freedom is also another option. rinehartracing.com/products/indian-chief-slip-on-mufflers?_pos=4&_fid=360925abc&_ss=c
Good night, I came to this video from the one you made NC 750 vs NT 1100 and I am very surprised because you asked for air protection for ride in winter and your new bike do not have any !! And you said this bike has all you need... have you moved to Florida??
Enjoy your beauty new bike, I subscribe and follow you from Bilbao (Spain)

Congratulations Paul on the new bike. You’ll definitely get better fuel economy in the future I’m getting i’ve managed to get 5/100 which gives me anywhere between 320k to 340 Give or take just depends on how you ride and which riding mode you use.
Awesome! Thanks Tom that's great to hear!
Very nice mate didn't realise you got the 23 I wanted a 22 in alumina jade smoke but couldn't find one until after I bought my bike I got a 22 harley street bob with 3000 off due to a deal harley was doing and then had the bike just under 2 months was out on the Anzac day poker run and it blew up had to wait a month for the shop to look at it they put a camera in it and discovered the rear piston gone so harley are sending out a new motor it's been a month since then so still waiting it only had 600kms on it so wish I had of bought an indian
Damn, sorry to hear that Rob that's rotten luck! I'm a fan of the Street Bob too, I'm sure it's a nice ride. I hope they can get it sorted soon and that the bike's still under warranty!
Love the bike
Thanks Nigel!
Fantastic looking bike my question is how are you finding the mid controls? You sorted looked a wee bit cramped I’m just not sure if I should have forward controls and if I do , would I need to look at changing the handlebars to suit
I'm liking the mids so far. If anything, I'd like the pegs to be even more closer to me, that would drop my knees down more. I did sit on the Chief Bobber with the mini apes and forward controls and also the Super Chief Limited with it's pullback bars and floorboards but in the end still preferred the Chief's riding position.
@@BikesILike thanks I will take that on board. I’m still sitting on the fence post, while we don’t have the Chiefs in the deep south in New Zealand it makes it difficult to make a good decision.
@@user-et2up4ys3f It is frustrating when you can't get to at least sit on the bike. New Zealand is a beautiful part of the world, did a driving holiday starting at Auckland and finishing in Queenstown a few years ago. Absolutely incredible scenery all the way. Another thing to keep in mind is body proportions. Even though two guys can be the same height their body proportions will vary greatly. Some will be longer in the leg, some shorter. Even the proportions between the upper and lower leg can vary greatly. If you can find some way to get a sit on one I'd highly recommend before buying.
Don't forget at 1901 kms take a pic of your speedo and notify Indian to join the 1901club, I forgot to as I was havin to much fun.
Yes! Thanks for the reminder I had already forgotten about that one!
Congratulations Paul, a stunning bike and the colour is just great! Chuffed for you......enjoy!
p.s....... just a wee bit envious😉 popeye
Thanks Popeye!
Funny, I'd prefer your license plate mount. I hate that side mounted crap. I bang into them with my leg every time I'm around them. I would like your setup even better if the license plate hung below the bracket rather than above it.
Based on the positioning of your leg at 12:20, if you can pull out 300 km you are tolerant of a lot more pain than me. My hips would commit mutiny if I rode with my knees that high above them that far...at least without frequent stops. I'd either sit on a phonebook or find a forward mounted peg setup, though highway pegs may be enough just to reposition them now and then.
Look forward to your ride vids. Enjoy!
It's going to be interesting and I know what you're saying about the hip flexors. That will be the real test.
Awesome choice, congrats, I’m jealous about your bike but not your number plate rules 👍
Thanks Peter!
Maybe lay the plate back on a bit of an angle, just a thought, nice bike and color
I'll have a look at that!
@@BikesILike Google lay down license plate bracket for sportster ,you will see what I'm talking about, but another option might be to put a axle mounted plate on, it might look really clean being you have a bobbed fender, ,
@@lcurtsinger4313 Thanks I'll check them out. 👍
I always classified the Chief Sport as a sport cruiser with extra ground clearance and the fairing/screen. Each to their own. It’s a very nice bike either way. The Tourer with the batwing fairing has an adjustable on the move screen. Cruise control? Footboards?
Thanks Andrew. The Chief comes with cruise control and I prefer the pegs at the moment. I did try the footboards on the Super Chief Limited but I don't like how they're angled upward.
@@BikesILike I thought the upward angle was good for extra ground clearance. As I age I definitely need more luxuries. Have you got or going to add heated grips and a seat? Did the Ballarat dealer have a blue?
Finally, have you seen promos of the new Triumph singles from India? I like the Scrambler. Cheers.
Hi, Congratulations, but i have a question: why you didn´t get the chief dark horse Bobber instead this? I think its a whole better pack for just a "few buc
ks more"...Really a prettier one with the same torque and engine.
I actually test rode the Chief Bobber this week. The demo Bobber at Indian Ballarat has Freedom pipes fitted and I wanted to hear what they were like in actual riding conditions (too loud for me). I didn't find the Bobber DH as comfortable as my Chief DH. It's my back, the more upright I am the less comfortable I am. I also didn't like the handling as much with the taller bars, I feel I have more control and can change direction quicker on my Chief. I also like that my Chief is the lightest of all the Chiefs plus it runs tubeless alloy wheels rather than spoked tubed wheels. As for looks, that's subjective to each person individually. I actually prefer the appearance of the Chief DH. Having said that I did feel cool riding the Bobber and I did like the forward controls of the Bobber, but I do find the mids on my Chief to be comfortable as well.
Nice 👍
Thanks Philip!
Finally yours 😅
Nice color. I do not agree with you confort wise. It is my 7th bike and is by far the less confortable. Otherwise the best motor and best looking bike of the seven.
🎉🍺🤘
Hi Paul, hope you have a better experience with your chief dark horse than I did with my one, unfortunately just like yourself I was thrilled with the chief initially, it had a few things I wanted to change ie the cheap plastic trim on the front mudguard and set the suspension, but as I found out after a few miles of riding, the engine is far too big for an air cooled machine it thumbs and jerks at low speed in towns and slow twisty roads, it's fine for highway riding on long straight roads, also after washing the bike the indicators would spin round on the forks and warning lights would intermittently appear on the screen which is a bit concerning on a brand new bike, and the tft screen is almost impossible to see in direct sunlight, so after only 350 miles I traded it in for a scout bobber 20 and although it's slightly smaller it's by far the better bike, smooth, light and really enjoyable to ride, anyway hope I've not put you off your chief and maybe I was unlucky,
Cheers for the good video 🤟
Hey Sandy, first up I'm really sorry to hear you had a bad run with your Chief and I appreciate your honesty. For my sake I'm hoping your case was an isolated one but long term ownership will be the true test. You know, after riding the Scouts I have been wondering if they may be a better choice for me too, I do like them a lot. And I agree, they have the fuelling better sorted on those bikes. I wonder if that's because the Chief's are fly by wire and the Scout's have a more direct throttle connection? I really want to test ride the Scout Bobber, it's riding positon I found to be very comfortable but still sporty. Having said that I also enjoyed my time on the Bobber Twenty. Thanks for sharing your experience and fingers crossed my Chief is a good one!
@@BikesILike cheers Paul, sorry to be a downer mate, I'm sure your chief will be everything you expected it to be, I should have went for the scout first as the roads in Scotland are more suited to it, I'm an old school biker so modern technology and ride modes aren't my thang 😀
Keep on with the blogs mate 👍
@@sandybroon1962 Thanks Sandy, will do!
