    I bought a Rogue and added the piggy back shocks and it improves the ride measurably. I'd only recommend this set up. Handling and power is great, very comfortable for cruising. Love the simplicity of the Scout. You are correct, with options on the Scout, they are closer in price than one might think.

    Hell yea, We are about the same size. I thought the tractor seat would do fantastic with the shocks in the back on the rogue. But with Scout bobbers lower bars. Not only would the look be different, but it would be much more comfortable with our longer legs and arms. Glad Im not the only one that seems interested in this.

      Yeah the tractor seat sits you up a little taller giving more room for your legs. Very useful and comfortable for riders our size.

    I currently own both a 23' rogue and 22' chief dark horse. Great review. I only disagree with the handling comment. The Rogues' handling is so much easier and forgiving versus the Chief with the mini apes in my opinion. The Chief is quite clunky when shifting gears comparatively but the 116 is certainly a torque beast. If you are 6'0 or below, go with the Rogue. If you don't care about the touchscreen, go with the Rogue. The touch screen is cool, but after awhile, you just don't use it as much as you would think. If you want the fuel gauge, go with the Chief. I am currently selling my 2022 Chief Dark Horse with 2500 miles. I added the 6 inch risers and Memphis Shades to "Sport" it out. Fantastic Bike, but, I decided the Scout Rogue was more fun to ride and ergonomically better for my back with the mini apes. Of course, you can opt for the Chief Bobber and get it all!!!! Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any questions.

    Thanks for the intelligent “every man”review of the 2 bikes. I tried out a chief 111 and it is comfortable, I’m 6’3 but based on price ($16k) here in California and what type of riding I enjoy, I tried a scout bobber, and actually enjoyed the rogue. I hopped on a rogue 60 and found the power, seating position and controls to be right, for me at least. Additionally I enjoy countryside cruising and it has more than enough power, surprisingly for really fun riding. I have upgraded some parts, exhaust and intake and am still less expensive than the regular rogue scout at $14k. I got mine for $12,300 and added $1000 in parts and estimated horsepower is at 90 now, torque is up to reg scout as well. Concerning the 5speed versus 6 speed, well the final gear ratio is identical- think of the 60 as not having a 5th gear but a 1,2,3,4,6- in the end it’s about the individual and what you want it for, cash flow of course- I think Indian makes great bikes to lightly customize, heavily is need, or not at all for a few extra bucks from the factory-
    Good luck and I hope you get your Chief soon-

    • @BikesILike
      @BikesILike  Рік тому +1

      Thanks Jason! Motorbikes really are a personal and individually specific thing as you've again highlighted. What doesn't work for may very well work for you and vice versa. I might have to make a video on that. We don't get the 60 range in Australia only the 1133cc models but I have seen the 6th gear and 5th gears are equal in both models. The 5 speed wouldn't worry me at all if the top gear final drive ratios are the same. Good move to save yourself a few dollars and sounds like you've got the HP up to a more than satisfactory range too, well done!
      I've been taking a good look at the Scout range and I've tended to skip over the Scout Bobber believing the Rogue and Twenty would be a better fit for someone my height 6'1" but I spent a fair bit of time sitting on the Scout Bobber in the dealership last week and I really really like it. No demo available unfortunately but I like it as much as the Chief Dark Horse, actually maybe even a little more. If the Chief order drags on I could easily see myself switching to the Scout Bobber. Another bike I've tended to dismiss is the base Scout. But after looking at it's dimensions it should be the most comfortable for taller riders of all the Scout range. They do have a demo Scout here, might try and test ride it this week.

      @@BikesILike Scout bobber is a fantastic bike. You can add the flat saddle and get the controls forward with an adapter from Indian. I recommend an exhaust and tune for a little more grunt. I wanted a Stryker red, but none were in stock and metallic black wasn’t my 1st choice until I put it in the sun, it’s gorgeous. People stop and look at these bikes because they are just beautiful, the premium is their appearance and frankly Harley is the only company that can match the artistic flow of the metal with bits of modern - I think, especially with bobber, it’s classic and modern at the same time.

    In the U.K. we have had the wetter March and April for 40 years. Our roads are completely destroyed due to water and cold weather lifting up asphalt. Still waiting for the weather to improve . Sunshine is just a dream at the moment. All this being said, the bobber looks super nice. The rogue , as you said, needs quite a few adjustments to be ride ready. I’ve never ridden this style of bike. But the bobber looks absolutely stunning to me.

      The Sportster S and Pan America hit a sweet spot in the market for performance/price comparisons with other manufacturers with similar features. Euro bikes are almost dollar for dollar for features and performance. Japanese bikes are about 10% cheaper. Indian hit the mark with the scout in 2015 but never upgraded the heart of it, leaving it falling behind. They did great with the Challenger in 2019. The entire lineup modernised in 2020 except for the Scout, weird choice.

    I actually passed on the Scout and the Chief for the Sportster S two days after the announcement and 6 months before the first one landed in Australia (COVID happened). I thought the Scout was too long due for an update (like you said, LED's and something more than ABS with its 2015 design- even HD pulled the Nightster standard and replaced it with the "S" after 9 months). The Chief for me came down to the engine and the models available in 2021. At the time, I thought the Rebel 1100 beat Indian on most of the tech for 6k less than the Chief (and still shits on the HD Nightster S). Then they announced the Sportster S from HD. I had been looking for 18 months for the right bike. I think the Chief is a great choice. I love the look of the Scout but it is way off the market value.

      That's a question I can't answer personally. I haven't noticed engine heat from either the Chief or the Scout on my test rides but I haven't ridden them on really hot days. Being taller my legs are also further away from the engine when I'm at a feet down position so that's also something to consider. The Chief Dark Horse bikes do have the Ride Command feature which is cool but beyond that they don't really do anything better than a Low Rider S.
    For the smaller, lighter bike segment it's the other way around.
    The Scout is roughly equivalent to the Nightster. The preformance on the two bikes (which I've ridden both) is very close, almost identical. But the unique styling and more comfortable riding position on the Scout Rogue made me choose that bike.
    I wanted to test ride the Sporster S but was unable to. However the Indian FTR is similar to Harley's Sporster S but it actually edges out the Sportster S on preformance with more horsepower and a better lean angle.

      Where the Scout Bobber has alloy wheels with higher profile tyres, the Scout Bobber Twenty has spoked wheels with higher profile tyres. The Scout Bobber also has mini apes instead of the Scout Bobber's lower handlebars and the Scout Bobber Twenty also originally came with the 1920 seat but has now switched to the same seat of the Scout Bobber. The Rogue has the same mini apes of the Twenty but has a different seat to both the Scout Bobber and Scout Bobber Twenty. The Rogue also has a larger front wheel at 19" with a lower profile tyre and a front fairing and screen. The base model Scout differs from the other models with it's own unique mudguards/fenders, seat, swept back handlebars and wheels. Other than those changes everything else is the same.
