Good assistance and service from your dealership
Excellent to see it all sorted.
Grease buildup was messing up a lot of Royal Enfields too...not on the plug wire, different wires/connectors...cant remember which now. Glad to see it got sorted
Cheers Robbie!
Thank you
Glad you seem to have sorted the issue out Paul.. 🙂👍
Cheers Greg!
Glad to see you are back up and running. Fortunately, most problems are simple. The hassle is the hand wringing in between!
For sure, cheers Vincent!
Very likely the same issue with my Springfield. I checked the condition of my spark plugs a couple of months back and added a little dielectric grease to the spark plug threads and a tiny bit on the top to help the caps engage. Looks like I need to get in there with a rag. Thanks for the heads up.
Sounds like a reasonable explanation.
Great when you get an optimal outcome. Long may she run! Cheers!
Cheers Guy!
Glad to hear it's all sorted! Interesting find Paul. Thanks for the update! 👍👍
Cheers Phil!
Looking in from the UK and pleased you got it sorted. Cheers
Thank you!
Great to hear that your bike is fixed. I think modern bikes have too much tech. I have a 1988 Harley Davidson Low Rider Sport, hotted up, and with a sidecar, and apart from leaking oil, it is very reliable. I have had it since 1989. Now I brought a HD Pan America Special, 2022 model, the army green version, in March 2023. I ride it every day, this week it started idling odd after riding for 30 minutes of commuting in Melbourne and cutting out. This only happens when it was well warmed up. Possibly it is a cracked O-ring seal on the intake manifold or a crack in the manifold that is messing up the mixture, that only opens up when warm. I have dropped it of to Harley-Heaven Melbourne today and asked them to check it out. Waiting for an outcome.
Cheers Hugh! I like the sound of your H-D sidecar outfit... cool. I know there has been some teething issues with the Pan Am, hopefully they'll get it quickly sorted for you!
Keep us posted please
@AndyPat239 Will do!
Glad to hear it all worked out!
Cheers Ian!
I wouldn't think dielectric grease would effect it. The spark plug cap grips all around plug tip.
Such a relief to ride a bike that has no computer in it.
I hear ya. :)
Good to hear it was nothing serious and easily fixed.
Cheers Anthony. Hope you're doing well!
Thanks to Indian device electronic systems and dealership, it can be shorted out. Ride safe and don't forget to have fun. As always❤
Will do!
I brought my ‘21 R18 TC to Oz from Canada and BMW Germany refused to release the software code to install the amber indicators lights 9 months the dealership had it to no avail. I found a dude who could make a software code work around to get the amber lights to work. However it will crash if an update is performed so it must go back to the dude to make it work again. Not good enough BMW
👍🏻
Dang, those are big bore cans...
945cc each!
Grease Lightning..not 😅
What handlebars are those ?
I'm running the 8" rise Indian Chief Mini Apes
This should be the end of your dramas. The grease has been applied incorrectly at the factory and in a way could have hindered the connection. The grease should be applied to the ceramic insulator to prevent moisture ingress and rouge current shorting through the plug insulator boot. This might have caused a high resistance and therefore incomplete combustion in cylinder 2 which would have been picked up by the oxygen sensor. The engine computer will then cut ignition to that cylinder either momentarily or untill the ignition is cycled all this is to prevent damage to the catalytic converter. If you use a scan tool to look at the computer of any new car you are likely to see multiple cylinder misfire events all cused for a number of reasons. Fuel quality is also a common cause of cylinder misfire.
We have had some not so great fuel her in Victoria recently especially with 98. My Kawasaki Ninja 1000SX was pinging badly on a few tanks of 98 so I put an Octane booster in and it was fine.
Ok, good to know! Thanks for the explanation, Matthew.
dielectric grease, insulates.
Ah ha! There you go. Cheers.
I hope you have found your problem, however, I have to admit that I've got my doubts going by my experience. Good luck, and if you want to know how to reset the engine error light let me know and I can send you the procedure. Otherwise it can take several engine re-starts before the light goes out. All the best, Cheers, Roy.
Cheers Roy I appreciate that, will keep you posted!
