Garry and Jerry were neighbors and filmed their shows side by side on the Sony Lot for years. The Larry Sanders show and Seinfeld show. The shows came to an end concurrently in the year 1998. This footage is actually from the period when Jerry was filming "Comedian," his documentary released in 2002. It seems evident that Jerry has provided Larry with this footage exclusively for his personal utilization. Now that's a good friend.
I rarely tire of hearing them speak of their processes, mainly because THEY can deliver!! Miss too many to mention now, a rough few years 5+ for losses of some goodies.
Garry and Jerry, two of the greatest in their field. What a privilege to be able to watch this 'behind the curtain' talk. I could listen to these discussions about the minutiae of the craft for hours on end. It occurs to me as I'm writing this that it could be construed as deeply sarcastic. Let me assure you, it isn't. As i was typing, suddenly my internal dialogue became facetious as it read the words back. And now I've completely lost the thread of why i was commenting in the first place. Anyway, i love comedy etc.. (Shit, there i go again.) I'm going to bed.
How cool would it have been if Seinfeld turned this into a regular series..documentary style chats with comedians about the art of comedy. Comedians getting coffee is a great show but I really enjoy the serious, nitty gritty conversations about the art form of comedy.
I never liked Seinfelt for his sitcom or his stand up really, but now it seems he's aging into something I appreciate. Never thought he'd obtain any status with me back then. That awards show speech of his was priceless, wasn't it?
Jerry’s DNA bit is actually a thing. Richard Dawkins wrote a very influential book in 1976 called “The Selfish Gene” that describes evolution from the perspective of genes and not individuals or groups.
Love to learn the craft from these greats. I had no idea being funny was so difficult? I guess everyone should try standup or team sports? No awkward shower time in standup.
Nealon is the voice of truth in the room, everyone else is coddling Garry's insecurity. Garry is a perfect example of how repulsive neediness can be...especially in a comedian. Given all his problems, he achieved a lot. I don't want to hate on the guy, but his vibe is just so "meh."

I can’t believe Judd Apatow went through Gary’s stuff after he died and took all his written notes. then Apatow tried to bump people at the Comedy Store to try out the material. A real comedy ghoul that Judd Apatow.
Jerry lives in a mansion, has 16 Porsche's, hangs out with stars, and and has a hot wife. And you drive a broken pinto. He gives a fuck what you think pal. Trust me.
I love it's Garry Shandling Show. it's the most underrated sitcom ever
Larry Sanders Show?
@@marknoble5495 it's Garry Shandling Show from 1986-90.
Larry Sanders is awesome too
With these two it's more than comedy, it's philosophy.
Shandling was never properly recognized. I really loved his stand-up from the start.
The irony of how comedians take comedy so seriously.
It makes me so happy when I stumble upon clips of cool folks I miss. It’s even cooler when there clips I’ve never seen.
Absolutely love this! Big comedy nerd here, discovering this chapter.
Absolutely useless stuff, shame it interrupted me doing nothing.
Chris Rock has the most punchable mouth. Thank you Will Smith!

That’s what happens when you make a ton of money on a silly show. You begin to think you invented comedy.
A truly fascinating glimpse behind the scenes of comedy and an equally fascinating look into the minds of comedians. THANKS!
It's nice to see Shandling genuinly having a good time.

Garry was a fuckin GENIUS 😂✌️
If Garry just went to the hospital that night instead of waiting to the morning he'd still be here.
What? Really? Oh man!
He wanted to but his driver was busy and couldn't drive him til the following day.
Verne, Barry and Marty
God Seinfeld is really smart... A comedy technician
LOVE and miss Gary. GG Rebimik
Brilliant on every level. ❤️
Very interesting to see these two together
Haha, “haha auhw jeez...” - “my wife says,” “How come you never mention me in your act”

This was back when you got a rare glimpse into the comic process and weren’t bombarded with it on a thousand podcasts a week.
This is great, where did you find this footage?

but standup is integral to showering though

Shandling was so great
If only they new how big Joe Rogan would become from having conversations with your comedian friends 🎉
Jerry asking garry why are you doing it....really quieted the room and garry
I know, he kept asking that,,, made me think of the reasoning
Garry is missed 😢
Can someone please identify the other folks in the room. I saw Norm McDonald earlier. And recognize other faces, but can’t place the names.
Norm when?
@@EdwardD-q5p Maybe they meant Kevin Nealon? It's easy to get the SNL guys mixed up. Like I'm always confusing Mike Myers with Eddie Murphy...

Garry Seinfeld and Jerry Shandling. I just made that up.

That’s not exactly an astute observation. He was screaming that his entire life!
Messed up how? In a dad way of amusingly, endearingly a bit strange?
