He's a huge fan of comedians and the art of stand up. I say this as a person who's not a real fan of his stand up but respects him as an artist.

People can hate Jerry's stand-up or even his show, but I think they should respect this man for being worth damn-near a billion dollars but he's still in love w/ stand-up and comedy in general. Most comedians and even musicians get lazy once they start making big money.
Agreed on all points. Anyone who hates Jerry doesn’t understand the depth of Jerry’s wisdom and genius. Doing what he does is incredibly challenging. He’s been around long enough to make it look easy.

I've worked in construction for 35 years, never easy, every day a grind... still think standing on a stage, by yourself with a room full of strangers has to be 100 times tougher... and these are still two of the best in their business

I really like both these guys tremendously. And it also goes to show you that it matters WHO is criticizing David's whole "unbuttoned shirt" look. I actually asked Spade that exact Q during a "Q & A" segment at the end of his Mirage performance (with Ray Romano). Let's just say I didn't get the same agreement that Jerry got when HE pointed it out here.
David is great. Just imagine into which comedic stratospheres he would have been shot if he had a chance to continue to work with Farley. That duo was golden and just getting started.

Whenever we've had these comedians die so young and they've had comedian friends that were so close I always wonder if they were doing drugs with them. Hard to imagine being so close friends and not doing that together, Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi.

One thing about listening to comics talk is that I'd like to think that if I were in the conversation, they would like me, and find me funny as well. And that is a special thing. (Tina Fey said this about being on Letterman.) Jerry said (many years ago) that one reason he got into doing stand-up was that: "I wanted to be one of 'those guys' over there doing jokes on stage and talking together afterwards." That seems to be a basic element of his success.
Check out the audiobook. It's the first audiobook I've ever purchased. I started off with the ebook, and enjoyed it enough and thought..."wouldn't it be cool if Jerry Seinfeld narrates the audiobook?" He does! It is!

Love seeing top comedians talking about their craft and seeing how they think and relate to each other. Seinfeld was my favorite in my 20's and 30's and Spade has been my favorite ever since.

The dearest friend that I have ever known constantly laughed and her and I were in stiches many times. Jana & I ALWAYS watched the show at 6:30. I have watched many of your interviews regarding the nuances of comedy including laugh duration and laugh frequency. Yes, I bought your book "Is This Anything". In particular, I ABSOLUTELY LOVED YOUR SPEECH WHEN JULIA LOUIS-DREYFUSS was honored when she received the Mark Twain prize. And, I love that you are "New York". Through and through. That nucleus of 4 (5 when including Newman) was SO GOOD when you co-created Seinfeld. And the casting. OMG! THE CASTING. Thank you to Suzie Mamann Greenberg too. The characters like "Putty" and "Poppy" the restauranteur were awesome. THANK YOU JERRY SEINFELD!

I'm glad we were able to see this side of David Spade because hes one of my favorite comedians. His vulnerability here is so refreshing and attractive. Its also nice to relate to him through daddy issues :) Thank you Netflix!!!!
Great moment. Jerry praised him for being cool, and I think that little bit of praise loaded the cannon for him - cuz that's what a good dad would say.
Seinfeld has enormous respect for other comedians. and I mean all of them. He has a lot of respect for the craft and the involvment it takes. He thinks of them as co-workers. I wish he would write a book about stand-up, the craft, the history, the people.
Especially love when Jerry talks craft. His own rhythm, style - i.e. a joke began, ended-up - i.e. the revisions/performing aspects. I've never heard David talk about his own writing process - but it'd be similarly fascinating.
I remember being at All American and seeing Jerry's mom drive by with a sign on her roof, reminding us to watch her son on Carson. Massapequa was and still is awesome ^__^

The dearest friend that I have ever known constantly laughed and her and I were in stiches many times. Jana & I ALWAYS watched the show at 6:30. I have watched many of your interviews regarding the nuances of comedy including laugh duration and laugh frequency. Yes, I bought your book "Is This Anything". In particular, I ABSOLUTELY LOVED YOUR SPEECH WHEN JULIA LOUIS-DREYFUSS was honored when she received the Mark Twain prize. And, I love that you are "New York". Through and through. That nucleus of 4 (5 when including Newman) was SO GOOD when you co-created Seinfeld.
And the casting. OMG! THE CASTING. Thank you to Suzie Mamann Greenberg too. The characters like "Putty" and "Poppy" the restauranteur were awesome. THANK YOU JERRY SEINFELD!

I'm glad we were able to see this side of David Spade because hes one of my favorite comedians. His vulnerability here is so refreshing and attractive. Its also nice to relate to him through daddy issues :) Thank you Netflix!!!!

Great moment. Jerry praised him for being cool, and I think that little bit of praise loaded the cannon for him - cuz that's what a good dad would say.
Seinfeld has enormous respect for other comedians. and I mean all of them. He has a lot of respect for the craft and the involvment it takes. He thinks of them as co-workers. I wish he would write a book about stand-up, the craft, the history, the people.

Especially love when Jerry talks craft. His own rhythm, style - i.e. a joke
began, ended-up - i.e. the revisions/performing aspects. I've never heard
David talk about his own writing process - but it'd be similarly fascinating.
I remember being at All American and seeing Jerry's mom drive by with a sign on her roof, reminding us to watch her son on Carson. Massapequa was and still is awesome ^__^
Great stuff. I love the humanity and openness of these two. It's why we love their comedy. They're real.
