    Thank you so much! Encaustic paint prices have held me back from trying this medium. Your video has encouraged me to make some paints with what i already have!

    This was a really helpful video - thank you 😊 Am just starting out in this medium & like the idea of mixing my own colours rather than buying a whole heap of different ones or trying to colour mix on a piece while layering.

      You are so welcome! I always recommend starting with what you have, and then growing from there. As you enjoyed this video, I will add that it's taken from my beginners course: The Art & Magic of Encaustic, which contains many more videos such as this one if you're looking for more guidance. wax.artyheaven.com/encaustic-magic Anyhow, I hope you get some great results.. Enjoy! :)

    I just watched a video by the R&F artist and she said the oil in the pigment sticks would weaken the wax and should not be used with encaustic wax. Have you had problems using the paint sticks?

      There's a ratio you should stick to, you don't want too much oil, or too much wax... R&F have a great information sheet on their website which explains the ratios, and grey area middle ground, really well. :)

    This was fun! But how do you clean the brushes?

    Can I ask what your heating surface is? Im in Canada and basically we either have R&F's or pancake griddles. I'm trying to look for alternatives

    can this be used with an iron?

    • @JulieAnnWaxArtist
      @JulieAnnWaxArtist  4 місяці тому

      Yes, you could use the same technique with an iron... although be aware there are different types of waxes, and ensure you don't overheat the wax. Check out my online courses for more info... (details in the description)... or e-mail me: julie@artyheaven.com if you want more clarification... :)

    Well very disappointing where is part 2 and using Oil Paints not the sticks? You should not promise a video then not complete it.

      Hi - This video is taken from my paid online course The Art and Magic of Encaustic, where part two can be found... I shared it publicly after a request of ways to colour your wax, and it's had great feedback, it wasn't created with the intention to share in isolation on UA-cam, however I can perhaps see your frustration if you'd been looking for part two without realising, I will make that clearer in the description comments. If you wish to see part two, and the remainder of the online course, you can find it here: wax.artyheaven.com/encaustic-magic. Wishing you all the best, Julie.
