The 2014 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 has 505-horsepowers and did a lap time of lap time of 7:37.47, impressive for an american car since this is faster than the 991 Porsche 911 Carrera S.
Lord Goarmagon: Does sound amazing! However, I think I enjoy the C6 ZR1 with the X-pipe even more. I have been in love with the X-pipe sound since 1999.
do it on a hot summer day watch those tires actually working better. rain lap and rwd dont mix well for fast times....i know this car has more potential in it. so the question is why not retest it at the nurb?
Imagine how much faster this time would be if it was in warmer temperatures, the thermostat in the radio tells us it’s 55 degress Fahrenheit outside which is still somewhat chilly
@@camonly849 yeah...I had a c6 Z for a while and I agree. A lot has to do with emissions and stuff and I guess GM didn't bother to built an LT version of the LS7. Honestly the new 5.5 outdoes it. To get 650hp NA from a LS7 is not that difficult but to have it pass 2022 emissions would be
@@Lanse1984 ya im not to familiar with emissions. But I think if they raised the compression a little, did some more head work and out a good intake manifold on etc...they could easily be 600+
Makes me wonder if there wasn't rain just before and during that last long straight, would the lap time been closer to that of the 2013 Z06???? He was losing a bit of traction so I know the time would have been less than it was and the Z06 posted a time of 7:22. This awesome new Z28 did it in 7:36
The driver was in the wrong gear on at least two sweeping curves plus the time he lost because of the slippery track , (rain) , so that lap time could be at lleast 7 to 10 seconds faster than what it was. Price, beautiful car, level of performance, the exhaust note, good job CHEVY !!
Slicks + Rain = almost spinning. Good thing there is a professional driver in that car and the section it was raining was very short.. Would like to see how the car performs strait off the show room floor with the base tires and no suspension tuning ;)
@@a_person_with_hands5886 Comes stock with that big front splitter and 305 size tires all around. Oh, and those big $10,000 ceramic brakes! Shocks are the DSSV technology the Formula One cars have. The $$$ was spent underneath these cars. Until you drive one, you just don't understand...
No rain probably a 7:28 to 7:31 time. This car will destroy just about anything out today..... 4-5 years later with a real transmission no corny driver aids, rev match, auto pilot mid engine horse shit. It just needs one mod to go fast..... the driver :)
@@davidbalentine2110 I did. Played with it for about a year and got an offer I couldn't refuse and promptly sold it. I then got a used 2010 Corvette Z06 and had it for about a year and then sold it. Now I have a new 2020 Camaro SS 1LE and I love it! I plan on keeping it for a good long while.
Nice. It would have been in 7 if it didn’t rain. Schedule was tight so this was one shot deal. Sunny day with sticky tires, 7 for Z/28 IMO. The best and last Z/28 ever.
M's and S's have lost their hold on dominance, on track. This is impressive and only a fifth gen Camaro--with a 1LE package I'm estimating. The 6th gen Camaro (SS) handles better, lighter by 200 lbs, has 25 more ponies and does it faster w/out the 1LE handling package. I'm sold, will be buying a 6th gen SS, bring on the new M3--V6. I love the E46 M3 and the E-92 M3. But V8's rule!
If you take in account that the C6 ZR1 did it in almost 20s less and this is the same time as a Carrera S has more than 200hp less than the Z28, you see that this car SUCKS, it's intended to be a street-legal race car, they tried to take it to the extreme (CC Breaks, ZR1 engine, semi-slick tires), and still.. It only performed like a 400Hp porsche..
I'm a Mopar guy so I don't go around defending Chevy and Ford. But that is the dumbest post in a long time. You're comparing a light 2 seat Carrera or Vette to a big 4 passenger Pony car? Really? I don't know shit about you but you sound like a complete poser who's only races are in a Xbox. Get a clue.
Got drivers car of the year. So guess it must be a blast to drive. And for 70k its a top contender against ultra rich cars. I'd have to say Chevy is doing it right.
What Carrera S are you talking about?? Last time I checked and I could be wrong, it makes right at 400hp, I think 385 claimed, and weighs like 3300lbs versus, almost 3900 lbs for a Camaro, so 200hp is a little exaggeration, much like your entire post. It's an awful day when a BMW guy has to defend American muscle against a Porsche poser. I'm an American as well partner, and I think in all seriousness that the Z/28 is probably the fastest pony car ever made to this point, aside from the GT350R. Which is another fantastic domestic ride. Thanks for watching, and have a great day.
Hitting 160mph in the wet! This is a madman!
That Ls7 is sounding amazing
That driver has balls....rain is scary on those trofeo tires.
We don't need turbo's, blowers or nitrous....just good old chevy horsepower
Yup.. just look out for that (30 lbs ,) of boost
Excellent soundtrack.
Lord Goarmagon agreed. Glorious even
Lord Goarmagon: Does sound amazing! However, I think I enjoy the C6 ZR1 with the X-pipe even more. I have been in love with the X-pipe sound since 1999.
The sound of the LS7 downshifting, and 7000 RPM, God almighty just listen to that climb to redline at 0:53 🤤❤️
Yes! Like music. Not gonna get that from an electric car.
when he slide that thing going 90 mph I gasped.
That car is badass very rare I’ve only seen one ever . It was amazing. One of the best production cars ever .
Amazing run ... I own this street legal race car and I hope one day to drive it like this guy
Definitely the most badass, raw, modern Camaro
I have one too. I agree, this guy can drive really well. I’m lucky enough to live near mountains. The car loves the twisting roads of the foothills.
Those tires are working their ass off. I love it.
Still my favourite camaro to date.
no doubt 👍
Incredible, especially since the track was wet in the last part, clearly some seconds lost there.

Unbelievable, what that car & driver pulled off with the wipers on. Very impressive, wow...
March 2020...…...It is my dream to someday own this car. I don't care about newer/quicker Camaros. I want this one!!!! LOL
What a BEAST...THE HEARTBEAT IS STILL ALIVE!!!!
I love this car. For what it is and what it isn't. That 427 with trofeo tires. Not the fastest ever, but a hell of a lot of fun.
7:37 in 2014 was pretty dang good.
@@camonly849 lost probably 10 seconds because of wet conditions. Still the greatest camaro ever made imo

I would guess with no rain and a other go, if he cleaned up a couple of them corners, he might be at 7:34ish or 35. Definitely no where near the z06.
Dream car!
If it didn’t start raining and the Z got sideways a few times, the time would’ve been quite better. What a beast.

I think a couple seconds could be shaved due to the weather, I demand a new run!!!

Sub 7:30 with full dry track
Now if that aint the coolest video it took me 10 years to find

7:37 and it was raining

Put a supercharger on my z/28 and it would too.
Zack S probably not. The aero that is added on the 1le makes the car handle way better and provides a greater amount of downforce
