- Man v. Food producers are actually more interested in a host that has a good camera presence and can talk about food.
- Over the course of the show, Man v Food has had some truly monumental challenges.
- While these food contests have been going on for years, there is no escaping the fact that Man v Food made them a lot more popular.
- Casey Webb has some pretty good food credentials, as he has been working in the food industry since he was 15 years old and has worked in pretty much all aspects of the industry.
- Once Man v Food started to go into production and the premise of the show was mapped out in all it's eating glory, doctors were actually consulted to make sure the hosts would be safe.

I’d never go to that restaurant in Sarasota. If they have no problem overly spicing those wings the way they did, I can only imagine there’s nothing they’d serve regular customers that would give them pause.

Eating food that is so hot that it can physically burn the tissues of your mouth makes no sense: you cannot taste the flavors of the food, might have just cooked cardboard and overly peppered it up.

It's the pain, numbness and europhoric feeling you get when eating peppers that people enjoy

I always wanted to meet Adam Richman and do a food challenge with him. That would have been epic. Casey Webb isn't all that bad. He's done a fair job but like they said he had some pretty big shoes to fill after Adam left.

I heard he left cause its a tv show so they film all the episodes in a row. They film one episode a day or something like that.
I watched that show almost everyday when Adam Richman was in is and sometimes with my husband. I always thought it was his show I never knew they held auditions for it. I haven't watched it with the new guy yet and I am not sure if I will. I thought Adam quit because maybe he was too unhealthy. After the show he did drop a ton of weight too.
It sure is easy to be a critic. We loved the show for the food. Bourdain was talking (thinking) through his hat. I always wanted Man to win and always wondered if any challenge presenters tried to sabotage him. We got used to Adam's style and I didn't like Webb at first either only because it was like somebody other than Bob Keeshan was trying to be Captain Kangaroo! But with that crazy look in his eyes and that haircut!! It didn't take long to get on his side. The food is always what was so amazing. By the way, "Diamond" Jim Brady could've blown all these professional eaters away. He was known as the "26 best customers" at the place he frequented most. An autopsy revealed that his stomach (not belly) was 6 times the size of the average person!

How bout numbering the reasons
Is it really that hard to understand why Man v. Food is entertaining? I'm a little surprised by Anthony Bourdain's criticism even knowing he was expecting something more culinarily interesting in his shows.

Hell how I get this job
Gotta love it when other people decide to assign you your motivation for something. So Anthony Bourdain didn't understand why people liked the show. Fine. But for to suggest that people only watched it hoping for the host to die is fucking stupid. Competitive eating for at least 100 years. The Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest has been going on every July 4 since 1916. Did he think that all the people involved in that and other eating competitions were just hoping to see someone die?
What was his opinion of American football? That he couldn't think of any reason anyone would watch it other than in hopes of seeing someone receive a concussion? It doesn't teach you anything about sports. Do people only watch Nascar hoping someone crashes? It doesn't teach you how to drive or fix a car, so that must be the reason, right?
Or could it perhaps be that watching someone overcome a challenge, pretty much any sort of challenge, can be interesting. People like competition, even if that competition is between a man and a meal, rather than between two or more people.
Bourdain's view boils down to "I don't like this, so there can't be any good reason anyone else would. They must just be bloodthirsty maniacs." Bourdain was a chef, I don't give a fuck about his opinions on anything other than cooking recipes. What he thought about a TV show is competely irrelevant.

The problem with the new version of MVF is Casey rarely wins a competition and sometimes acts like he doesn't even really try. Which will fuel those who claim that so much of the food is wasted/thrown away.

Haven’t watched since they got canceled and Adam stopped being the host. I recently tried to watch it again with that guy Casey but he loses most of the challenges and just sucks as a host
