Two kinds of men : Those who love Karen Carpenter's voice and admit it, and those that love it just as much but deny it. It's impossible to hear and not feel it in your heart.
What about a girl like me?I fell in love with her since 10..and i'm 21 now..i feel like a widower when KC passed away..I love KC alot and still she's my lady and my wife...
Back then, guys fell in love with her just by listening to her voice. She didn't need to try to make herself look sexy, all she needed to do was be herself, open her mouth and let the magic fall out.
Yes, her brother is a genius. Pianist, musical arranger, lyric writer, great singer. With her voice and drumming skills, they were talented beyond words.
Every time I hear Karen’s voice I get chills. Richard’s arrangements are pure genius. One of her ex-boyfriends said Karen Carpenter could sing the phone book and it would be a hit. Such a tremendous loss.
JB. Even as an "Old person" who has heard Karen sing, and sing, and sing, I still can't get enough of her.l My reaction to has ALWAYS been - THE EXACT SAME AS YOURS. No B.S. When my brain hears her sounds, I melt also. Always have, always will. You will be the same. Sorry JB, she's stolen your heart just like mine and a gazillion other guys.
I have been watching your reactions to Karen Carpenter. I felt in 1971 what you feel now. I still feel it when I hear her voice. You are not alone in your love of her.
I love your reaction to hearing Karen. I've been listening to them for 45 years and she still brings tears to my eyes. Karen is definitely the best singer of my lifetime.
Really appreciated your video, your comments and reaction. She was so very special, unique, and absolutely beautiful. I'm 53 and her singing still impacts, and affects me...and I can remember when I 1st sat down to listen to her, in my youth-I was enraptured with her voice, and really connected with her singing on a deeper level. To this day, I've never heard anyone, not completely, like Karen Carpenter. Thankyou, and GOD bless you.
Your reactions mirror my own. I adore her voice. After all these years, it still gives me chills. Some days I just listen to them on a loop, can't get enough. 😍
Love your reaction and love that you have become such a fan of The Carpenters. I've been one since the 70s when my hippie aunt gave me their first album when I was about 10 years old. Karen Carpenter has that rare quality of going directly into your soul from the first note she sings. I must have listened to their songs hundreds of times and am still moved by her voice. Every. Single. Time.
Hi jb. Absolutely love how Karen melts you. The only other voice I can compare to Karen, is Nat King Cole. They both share that astonishing resonance in their voices. Check him out, if you haven't. I think you'll get that same feeling. Also, check out Karen singing Solitaire. Richard said her voice was at it's most perfect quality in the mid 70's.
It is the biggest myth in the world that if your a REAL MAN you don't cry. Real Men cry, and this song by the one and only Karen makes me cry. Karen!!! What can you say about her? One of the most phenomenal singers that ever lived. She not only touched your heart so deeply but your soul. Deeply Loved and missed. I can't wait to meet Karen in Heaven
so so beautiful brings tears to my eyes every time i hear this song and has done so for years and years now... her rendition of "i'll be home for chistmas" does this as well.
So much to say about this song. If ever there was a response to White Christmas then this is the song. It is melancholy and full of hope. It is Karen's song and it always affects me emotionally. I love the lyric ... But I can dream and in my dreams I'm Christmasing with you.
Richard Carpenter was such a talent to recognize his sister had such a gift, they made beautiful music for the ages... It's ok to cry when you her her beautiful voice...
I am back again, I play all your carpenters songs. You really have a love for them and their music and her voice. I hope no family members or friends give u a hard time, that would just break my heart.
Fun fact JB: The lyrics were written by the choral director of the college Richard went to. He asked Richard to come up with music so they could play it at the annual Christmas program the college put on. Richard is only 18 (!) when he wrote it. Years later he and Karen put it on their Christmas album as a tribute to their favorite teacher and it's become a standard that's played every year at Christmas. Thank you for reacting to this and loving The Carpenters.
I always listen to this song when I am putting up the tree. Every year, it brings me to tears, especially when I am anticipating the return of my kids from college for the holidays. Emotion overload.
Believe it or not - I STILL have their Christmas Album. I bought the CD several years ago, but I still listen to the whole album several times every single season. ♥
I was around when the Carpenters first started out. Karen played the drums in her brother’s band. Her singing became such an important factor that her brother and others insisted that she come to front. She didn’t really want to but people wanted to see her. After a TV performance, an ignorant fan wrote to her that she looked like she had put on weight. Television back then made you look heavier than you really are. Karen was already insecure about her appearance. I understand that she fell in love & married but then found out that her husband was just after her money. I remember crying when the radio announced that she had died. I am so glad to see younger people rediscovering her.
One of my favorite Christmas songs, and I always wondered if Karen didn’t pass, how much more beautiful songs she’d be singing, this song always brought tears to my eyes. God bless 🙏🏻💜🕊✝️
I love all of your Carpenters reactions. And you are absolutely right to give a shout out to Richard Carpenter. He wrote and arranged many of the lovely songs that his sister made famous. I love that you appreciate the music I grew up with. While you are doing Christmas songs, please include "Happy Christmas--War is Over" by John Lennon and Plastic Ono Band. Keep on rockin!
This has always been my favorite Carpenter's song. I was sixteen when this came out and couldn't get enough of it. I love how her music affect you. She always made me emotional also. It wonderful when music makes you feel that much. Emjoy your reactions very much JB. Thank you.
I heard this song for the first time this past Christmas and loved it. Through the many reaction videos I have discovered Karen Carpenter and the Carpenters songs and am blown away by this angelic voice that cannot be duplicated.
This song is Absolutely my favorite Christmas song. I cry listening to Ms.Karen sing , , you can't help it , , she is so Honest , , Beautiful , , . The Carpenter's music always puts me " On Top of the 🌎 ". My Happy Music , , when I'm down they lift me up and make me Smile. 😊 Thankyou my Brother for posting. God Bless you and Yours . Happy 2020 ! 🎶🎤🎹👆🙏🙌💘💜🇺🇸
This song is very special to me. There was no lonelier feeling, for me, than to be at sea during the Christmas season. But as a Chief Petty Officer once told me; the Navy issued orders, not invitations. It was a long time ago, but this song reminds me to be grateful for family and friends. Merry Christmas.
I remember sitting by the radio, patiently waiting for this song to come on, a kid desperately in love with Karen Carpenter’s magnificent voice. Naturally, I would always miss The beginning of the song for some reason or another but I don’t have to wait any more. I can listen to this song all throughout the year, Karen’s beautiful voice putting me in the mood for the Christmas holidays.
You nailed it darlin...it’s just not Christmas without hearing The Carpenters Karen will never be forgotten as long as sweet people like you keep her voice alive Love this format it’s so important !
It make me get tears to see how beautiful we are as Americans, all our talents black and white Americans make this a beautiful country , Merry Christmas my brother.
When I was a kid in the 80s, I would scan the radio dial all day long trying to find the beginning of this constantly played song but always missed it! Thank God for streaming because now I don’t have to try to find a tape to record her beautiful voice!!
I’ve listened to this song a million times but I’ve never seen the video so thank you 👏👏 Angelic Karen is amazing. And the lyrics take on a special meaning posthumously.
JB, I love your music reactions!. You could never go Wrong with Karen, she has a magical Voice. Have a Merry Christmas! Keep the awesome reactions coming!
Every Carpenter song has a story. Merry Christmas Darling was written and published by Frank Pooler. Frank was a college music professor at Long Beach State where both Karen and Richard attended in choir and the cappella class. Frank wrote this song for a love interest of his as a Christmas gift when he was 18 years old back in the Midwest. That girl broke up with him shortly before Christmas so he never played it for her. Twenty years later Richard Carpenter was talking with Frank in class. Richard told him he and Karen were interested in doing a Christmas album and asked for some suggestions. Frank pulled out his song. Richard updated the song with his amazing arranging skills and presented it to the world. The rest is history. Frank, Richard, and Karen always had a twinkle in their eyes each and every time they performed this classic and timeless song.
Since I was a kid in the 80’s this has always been my favorite Christmas album hands down!! It just makes you so happy and it really gets you in the mood for the season! Enjoy!!!
Chrystal clear voice. She was such a gift. Her brother was the music arranger. It was a team effort. She’s so incredibly talented. Rest In Peace Karen.

One of the joys in life is listening to Karen Carpenter sing. Those who haven't found her are missing a true gift.
Back then, guys fell in love with her just by listening to her voice. She didn't need to try to make herself look sexy, all she needed to do was be herself, open her mouth and let the magic fall out.
Amen to that.
So beautiful. Brings tears to my eyes. She is singing with the angels now. Please watch her sing Ave Maria.
There's a live version of Ave Maria from 1978 down in Long Beach. It's perfect and the applause at the end goes on for as long as the song was.
Love Love Love😍
One of the most beautiful voices ever!
It's a freaking joy watching you swoon over her. Dude you melt😁 Her voice so clear and so very feminine.⚘ Merry Christmas JB🎄
I loved The Carpenters especially Karen and their Christmas was one of the best and thank you for showing this!!
Yes, her brother is a genius. Pianist, musical arranger, lyric writer, great singer. With her voice and drumming skills, they were talented beyond words.

I hope somehow her spirit knows how much you appreciate her voice.

One word is right, MAGICAL!
that's a word that you see used often to describe karen's voice. and it's so true. And as JBLETHAL said, it's also hypnotic and mesmerizing.
I grew up with the Carpenters, because of my mom, she still has all of her vinyl including the carpenters
Jennifer K I have all my Carpenters vinyl too.
Lovely reaction. Karen's singing (along with Richard's numerous contributions) goes right to your soul.
Hands down my all time favorite Christmas song. Miss her beautiful voice.😅
Part of the charm of Karen's voice is that she sings from the heart.
Not all singers have that quality.
New subscriber. You made my heart melt with your reaction to Karen. She is my favorite artist of all time.

Karen Carpenter is the only singer that can make me cry. You can feel every note. She's perfection
Watch people's reaction the next time you are any store, standing in line. Everyone stops what they're doing to hear her voice. Magical.
The legend and voice. She led such a torturous life and hope she has peace.
