Her voice is so beautiful that I actually regret not having been alive when she was. Rest in peace, angelic Karen. I also suffer from an eating disorder so I understand her pain. As kids we heard their music everywhere, shopping malls, car radio, dentist offices etc. Karen had the voice of an angel who had fallen to earth from heaven and blessed us with her voice. I had a selection of songs played at the end of my mom's memorial service many years ago, this was the first one because she liked the Carpenters and loved to sing. We had a bad relationship but this song reminds me of the better parts.

I was in the second grade when this song came out, and I thought it was cool that they used children's voices(I later realized that it was a children's choir). They say that when she sang without a microphone, you could barely hear her, even if you were in the room - that's how soft her voice was.

The Carpenters were on the radio all the time during my childhood. My grandparents had lots of 8 track mixed tapes, some they bought commercially of contemporary hits, some my uncle made for them. I also feel like I remember Karen Carpenter was on Sesame Street singing this song specifically.
This song has a special meaning to me. Back in the 70’s when they were in concert they would pick a local school and have the kids from that school sing the “lalalalala” part of the song. When they came to Jacksonville Fl, my school was chosen and I was in the school choir. We practiced and practiced that song for months. As the date drawed near we all had to sing the part as a solo and not as a group and all the boys with a deeper voice were not allowed to sing during the concert. I always found it ironic that the song was about singing from the heart but I guess only if you had a high voice.

“Comfort food” for the ears. Karen’s voice was like a warm blanket. I love the variety of your channel. Keep it up! In that spirit, I’d like to recommend a band for you. I don’t see any Rush reactions in your list. They are a Canadian prog rock band with a huge catalog. Give them a try man! Tom Sawyer was their biggest hit and is a good place to start. Other suggestions: The Spirit of Radio, Xanadu, New World Man.
Karen's voice is my all time favorite. I was 15 when she died and man I was heartbroken as many people were. Her and Richard created beautiful music and I'm so glad you are into them, James. A couple more songs that I don't believe you've reacted to yet are "Goodbye To Love" "Yesterday Once More" and "Bless the Beasts and the Children". Goodbye to Love may be their best song IMO when you do that one be prepared to get emotional as it's a pretty sad song.
"Yesterday Once More" is one of my favorites from the Carpenters, so I think that one would be worth checking out! Another great track which I feel gets overlooked a lot is "Now". This was the final song Karen recorded, and she did the whole thing perfectly in only one take (something most of today's stars couldn't accomplish no matter how much you pay them!). Another interesting note is that it's a cover of "Heart to Heart" by Mariya Takeuchi, best known for the popular city-pop song "Plastic Love".
I love that you can evaluate singers and do reactions and your one of the few that can truly sit there and here and here in her voice what can rarely if ever be found in other voices.
I used to listen to their singles on my Fisher-Price record player. This song came out when I was one, at age 2 I was singing it at school. I’m in tears right now and having a hard time finishing this comment. I love the Carpenters, thank you for the sweet memory.

There was never a voice like Karen Carpenter's, and there likely never will be again. She had the voice of an absolute angel.
“Comfort food” for the ears. Karen’s voice was like a warm blanket. I love the variety of your channel. Keep it up! In that spirit, I’d like to recommend a band for you. I don’t see any Rush reactions in your list. They are a Canadian prog rock band with a huge catalog. Give them a try man! Tom Sawyer was their biggest hit and is a good place to start. Other suggestions: The Spirit of Radio, Xanadu, New World Man.

Karen's voice is my all time favorite. I was 15 when she died and man I was heartbroken as many people were. Her and Richard created beautiful music and I'm so glad you are into them, James. A couple more songs that I don't believe you've reacted to yet are "Goodbye To Love" "Yesterday Once More" and "Bless the Beasts and the Children". Goodbye to Love may be their best song IMO when you do that one be prepared to get emotional as it's a pretty sad song.

"Yesterday Once More" is one of my favorites from the Carpenters, so I think that one would be worth checking out!
Another great track which I feel gets overlooked a lot is "Now". This was the final song Karen recorded, and she did the whole thing perfectly in only one take (something most of today's stars couldn't accomplish no matter how much you pay them!). Another interesting note is that it's a cover of "Heart to Heart" by Mariya Takeuchi, best known for the popular city-pop song "Plastic Love".
I love that you can evaluate singers and do reactions and your one of the few that can truly sit there and here and here in her voice what can rarely if ever be found in other voices.
I used to listen to their singles on my Fisher-Price record player. This song came out when I was one, at age 2 I was singing it at school.

Another great reaction, JB, to a Carpenters song. This one accompanied by the Jimmy Joyce Children's Choir. Much like you, though decades earlier, the Carpenters' music always lifted my spirits when I was feeling down. I'm sure they did that as well for millions of their fans. I was in my mid-20s when Karen died in the early 80s. It was like a punch in the gut hearing the news. However, I'm heartened to see that young people like you have discovered their music.....and been enriched by it. Keep moving forward and enjoy your continued musical journey!
