Nothing to be ashamed of, we understand the emotions that you’re feeling, she has a way about her like no other. Her beauty and angelic voice easily touches the feels that are deep within us. So..........I might just have to play the song again for the 6th time in a row!
Appreciate so much your appreciation for Karen and Carpenters music. Grew up with this music and the sound of her voice hits me immediately. 50 years later and I still have to fight back the tears! Your genuine heartfelt reaction was heartwarming. RIP KAREN.
Karen's voice is literally magic. I started listening to her at 12 years old and never let up. I am 60. She has provided spirit to my life! Love you Karen.
That's one of the most insightful things I have heard in a while. Robin Williams, Jimi Hendrix, Michael Jackson and of course Karen... the greatest in whatever they did... All had struggles that were beyond their control.
I’ve found the best way to listen to the Carpenters is alone in a room with your eyes closed. The sadness in Karen’s voice reaches into your soul and holds on. Karen’s death is a tragic loss.
I know. As a teen, when I fought with my mom, had a bad day or just because I was a teen and needed to. I’d go to my room, close the door, put a Carpenters album on the turntable and zone out to Karen’s voice. I could feel her pain, though I didn’t know then what was her pain, and it cleansed out mine. Very cathartic, though I didn’t know this word then, it was just Karen.
The look of love, appreciation, and total awe on your face the second you hear Karen's voice busts me out in tears EVERY TIME, sweet brother! It just touches my heart seeing someone from the younger generation discover the gift straight from God that is Karen Carpenter.
I was introduced to The Carpenters in the 70's during my childhood. They were a huge part of my youth. When she passed it devastated me and to be honest it still effects me to this day. She still moves me. Sadly a lot of the songs reflect her sadness. It's awesome seeing how much you connect with her. Another great song is "A Song For You". Please react if you have a moment. 😁 R.I.P Karen. We miss that beautiful voice and spirit of yours.
At 2:05 on I can sense your heartbreak for a young woman you never knew. Those of us who "grew up with" the Carpenters always knew how wonderful she was. Every word was pure. Dude you are hooked like I always have been. Yes she was a beautiful talent.
The Carpenters were really great. The song We’ve only just begun, was played at a many weddings after it came out...and this one..Look at the two of us... Bless your heart young man.❤️💜🙋🏻♀️
Another very emotional song from them is "I won't last a day without you." And nothing wrong with allowing music to bring out your emotions. As David Gilmour from Pink Floyd said "If music or a song is moving someone in some way, then it's doing its job."
You are so adorable. I just love the way you "feel" the music and especially Karen's voice. All the struggles that these wonderful talented people dealt with was because they were just human like you and me, but they had the added burden of always being in the limelight. It's both a curse and a blessing.
She is like the world's most beautiful flower with wonderful fragrance that only lasts a short time and you wish you could see and smell that flower again.
I'm watching your reaction almost two years later and your video brought me to tears. I hope you are sharing your new discovery of beautiful music with others.
A voice that still touches me deep in my soul. I am 60 so I grew up listening to this magnificent voice. Karen you left us far to soon. I was devastated when you passed
teehee, i had just BARELY Turned ten years old in '77 But THANK GOD i ALREADY KNEW about The Carpenters because of my much Older brothers & sisters who played The Carpenters on our 1970 Sears Record Player. My oldest brother graduated i think (CAN'T remember?) in '77 Or '76 And my oldest sister graduated in '78 (i MISS MY Youth, i REALLY HATE Today's "Music", ha ha). And YES, WE MISS Karen Carpenter SO MUCH. 😢 💔
This is by far one of my favorite Carpenters songs. I'm old enough to actually remember hearing it on the radio back in the early 70s as a young child.
I grew up just 3 miles away from their home in Downey, Ca. I never met her in person but like her I was driven to play drums. Her voice is like a velvet clarinet. Too much talent for this world.
THX 1138 Mm, I love that description. ‘A velvet clarinet’, how beautiful and fitting. It does have that odd naivety that a clarinet has to it, doesn’t it?
So glad you know the magic of the music of Carpenters. Indeed the world lost a great deal when Karen lost to the world. Thankfully, even though it is sad, after a while, though its purely a joy they brought. And whatever her struggle she and Richard are legendary.
It took 2 million years of human evolution to create this voice. Even when she sings sad songs your uplifted in the realization of our human potential.
JB one reason I love you is because you are real. Not like most reactors who are trying to be funny and so full of energy. Keep it simple and real. Please play carpeters top of the world. Thanks
Karen Carpenter is my favorite female singer off all time and her voice was all I heard when I heard a Carpenters song. But as I got older I started realizing that Richard's musical arrangements and background vocal track genius was what made it all come together and make them as great as they were. On this song especially...
After listening to this for 48 years (I was 10 when this was released and my folks LOVED the Carpenters so this was playing in our house soon after release ;^), I don't think anymore: this is my favorite Carpenter's song.
Love your channel, man. I'm with you on the Carpenters. The waterworks come every time I sit down and turn on all their great hits from the '70's. It takes me back to when I was about 10 and just beginning to understand the world in a way other than through a child's eyes. It was a time of such hope, optimism and faith that society's ills would really get better. Sadly, I don't feel that way as much today, and it makes me long for those earlier days.
My parents went to Vegas or Reno when I was a kid to hear Paul Anka because she liked him as her teen idol. By chance, his warm-up band was the Carpenters. My mom came home all excited and basically said OMG they are going to be big. I was a kid but I remember she could not stop talking about them and she was not a music fan by any stretch of the imagination. Karen upstaged Paul who? And they were better live in that small lounge room than on vinyl. What a chance she had back then.
This is my favorite song of theirs and the video of their performance on the BBC in 1971 is wonderful. I found your channel earlier this year, thanks to Karen and Richard's music, and I'm grateful to have found it. You absolutely rock, my friend. I hope that you are on the way to big things that will help you accomplish your dreams.
I feel you. I wish I didn't know what happened to her because now every time i listen to her, my eyes literally start to water. I can't help it. Her voice just gets to me. Every. Single. Time.
You have such a beautiful heart and soul. I grew up with them. I remember the day I picked up a newspaper and saw that she had passed I was just a teenager I must have cried for days and now at 57 she still makes me cry every time I hear her beautiful voice
I was 1 year older than Karen.I was so shocked and hurt when I saw in a sidewalk paper headline that she had passed. Most beautiful voice I ever heard. I still sometimes get a tear when I hear her voice. Such an effect on so many fans who loved her music. She seemed so like family.
Love your reaction to Karen she gets me every time I’m a tough guy but the tears come when i hear that voice I thought she was gorgeous have no idea what she was seeing in the mirror she was as scrumptious as anybody back then
I look forward to you reacting to more Carpenters songs too. The Carpenters are my favorite band of all time, bar none. And there are a lot of artists that I love almost to that level. No one beats Karen and Richard though.
when i first got my license and a first car after high school,i had buddies that all drove and had cars, when we piled into somebody's car to cruize,we were forced to listen to whatever was playing in one's car, some liked phil collins, others top forty hits, rock and roll when they piled in my car i played everything carpenters as loud as it could be heard mind you this was around a busy downtown, not one of my buddies had a bad thing to say about the music and this was around 1983 to1986,one song in particular was calling occupants of inter planetary craft, true story..
I just love watching you and your reactions. As a recording artist and raised in the 70s I was a huge fan of The Carpenters and constantly teased in high school for loving them. My mom raised me to feel passion when I sing and that’s what Karen dies and that’s what’s missing today...thank you for loving her! I’m a huge Patsy Cline fan too
I was so young when Karen passed away from what I remember She had the voice of an Angelica angel she died very young back then I honestly thought Richard couldn't pull through but he somehow made it only by the grace of God it would have been so nice to see Karen win an Oscar for songs that she and Richard had written but their only Oscar was given to the writers who had written the song I know Karen was probably wishing it was her song rip my beautiful friend til we meet again
Your reaction is so pure. Thank you. This was in my era and I miss it terribly. Again thank you for your beautiful reaction. God Bless You. (The Carptners did have a lot of single hits. ) I don't know if they were number ones but regardless Karen had a pure angelic voice and was perfect for each song she had sung.
My father loved the carpenters and I grew up hearing all these beautiful songs. I'm telling you the last thing I need is another subscription, but your true heartfelt reactions have made me cry and see through your eyes how truly special Karen was, Love what you have done for me, so I'm subscribing, keep them coming
Karen's voice was captivating and smooth like butter! She and her brother did their own layered background vocals. Harmonies tight like an instrument. I came up to the Carpenter's music. Great review!
I'm commenting well after the fact here, but I really hope you see this...I love your reactions to The Carpenters; it's so incredibly heartwarming to see someone from your generation fall in love with Karen Carpenter's voice, like we all have before you. Her story is truly, truly sad indeed. Not asking you to react to it, but if you want to listen to a simply beautiful song that her brother wrote in honor of her (and I believe for a TV movie about their story), check out Karen's Theme by Richard Carpenter. I can't listen to it without grieving for her all these years after her death. But it's somehow wonderful to listen to it and to remember her wonderful talent and priceless life. The song is on the album 'Carpenters - Gold: Carpenters (35th Anniversary Edition)
I subscribed to your channel because of this reaction! Karen had the voice of an angel! You have a great appreciation for true talent. God bless you my brother.
Every time I hear her sing, tears come to the eyes. What a voice.
There is nothing wrong with being emotionally moved when listening to utter perfection. Appreciate, and enjoy.
Thank you! My thought exactly.........
There is nothing wrong with being emotionally moved, period.
@@herrfriberger5 That's what music is all about.

Her voice hits you like it's out of nowhere, and you find tears coming down for reasons you cannot understand.
You are right....my allergies are kicking in right now.
in a quiet room, closing your eyes is the best way to hear the most purest, rich, moving beautiful intimate voice that is karen carpenter's.

Great comment 🙏
Yes definitely, you need to feel her voice as well as hear it
Vocal only,
Lots of stripped versions on YT.
Karen’s voice, from the first note, wraps around you like a warm blanket. Bless her🙏
I haven't heard a voice in my life as pure as Karen's
There is no other and never will be

Nothing more beautiful than Karen Carpenter's voice. So honest, so pure.
Karen's voice is literally magic. I started listening to her at 12 years old and never let up. I am 60. She has provided spirit to my life! Love you Karen.

Ya what she said ^^.
A voice that reaches in and touches your soul.
I am 60 also and I agree with you.

I think her deep voice is what gives me chills. So clear.”The greatest struggles come from the greatest people.” That is profound and nice.
I read somewhere referring to her that The Money Is In The Basement
That's one of the most insightful things I have heard in a while. Robin Williams, Jimi Hendrix, Michael Jackson and of course Karen... the greatest in whatever they did... All had struggles that were beyond their control.
@@JohnnyHector17 I read somewhere that same quote...and it said that she is one who said it - in general, about her voice's appeal.

Karen Carpenters voice takes me somewhere beautiful and sometimes painful, so I can relate to what you are saying.
My eyes light up just like yours when I hear Karen's beautiful haunting voice. She was so special.
I’ve found the best way to listen to the Carpenters is alone in a room with your eyes closed. The sadness in Karen’s voice reaches into your soul and holds on. Karen’s death is a tragic loss.
Preferably with good audio equipment
And I usually take my glasses off to focus on the sound because I can't see clearly anymore
Oh hell no. Too intense. For me anyway.
Some songs reach too far in.

Her voice makes me want to cry. Listen to her sing Ave Maria.
There's a live version of her singing Ave Maria from 1978. It's a poor recording but her performance is ASTONISHING.
The Carpenters were really great. The song We’ve only just begun, was played at a many weddings after it came out...and this one..Look at the two of us... Bless your heart young man.❤️💜🙋🏻♀️
